In France we have a show called "Les enfoirés" which is a concert with 40-or so artists (very famous french or francophone artists, we had Celine Dion for several years) that perform for free during a week. The show is filmed and visible on TV. Then the CDs and DVDs are sold and the profit goes to a caritative organisation called Les restos du coeur who offer food to people in need especially during winter.

It exist since 1989 and there is a show once a year in January (March on TV). It's very popular in France.

This fad goes through the Fellowship, Gimli bleaching his hair and doing purple streaks, Frodo goes with some tasteful blue tips, Sam matches Legolas with some green streaks (“Us plant lovers have to stick together, Mr. Elf.”), Merry and Pippin squabble over it but eventually Merry gets red highlights and Pippin gets orange streaks. Boromir gets blue to match Aragorn.

The real shock comes a week later when Gandalf shows up with ombré pink ends.

Pippin immediately insists on changing his hair to match.

Eventually, the entire Fellowship has some amount of pink hair. Legolas went all out and dyed all his hair pink.

Thranduil was furious.

Hi ! I search a fanfiction that I've read some months ago. It was a Rosalie x Bella, multi-chapters. Bella was neglicted by both her parents because she was born with a penis even is she's a girl. She was raised by a kind woman in the poor part of Phoenix. At the end she become best buddies with Aro I think. It was well written, fun but not totally a crack-fic.

I think it has been removed from AO3, if someone know what it is or even has it, it would be really appreciated 😁

J'avoue que je suis un peu extremiste athée mais c'est une reponse automatique face à la montée de l'extrémisme religieux. Je respecte la foi des autres (même si je ne semble pas le faire) mais j'ai vraiment du mal à me mettre à la place des croyants car c'est une façon de penser que je ne partage pas. Je ne peux pas me référer à une entité supérieure pour prendre une decision et je ne base pas mes decisions par rapport à des textes ou une foi partagée avec une communauté.

On arrivera pas à se mettre d'accord car on prend le problème de façon opposée, je pense. Même si on pourrait à la longue, trouver un terrain d'entente.

Je suis pas d'accord avec la loi sur le burkini et je pense que les femmes adultes devraient avoir le droit de porter le voile si elles le souhaitent. En revanche, les burqas dissimulant le visage, les yeux et la moindre parcelle de peau me derangent. Et je pense que, quelle que soit la religion, cela ne concerne que le croyant et ses proches, que c'est un choix qui doit être fait en toute conscience une fois adulte et que ça n'a pas sa place à l'école publique. Si quelqu'un souhaite que son enfant vive sa scolarité de façon religieuse, il y a les écoles religieuses (catholique, hebraique ou coranique).

Pour ton information je suis à 100% athée, donc c'est vraiment étrange pour moi de voir des gens exiger une adaptation de la société en fonction de leurs croyances. Ça me semble aussi logique que si certains exigeaient une modification de la société selon la volonté de leur ami imaginaire. Ça peut avoir de l'importance dans le privé, mais ça doit rester dans le privé.

To repeat what I've said earlier, France do not ban hijab in public spaces, it bans burqa ! As long as the face is shown, there is no ban. And for the ban for women under 18 yo, it applies at school, because in France, any obvious religious sign is ban in public school. You can have jewelry with a cross, a david star or even discreet henna tattoo, but not obviously religious outfit, hairstyle or whatever. Religion doesn’t have a place at school, only within your private circle.

As a french person I need to add some context and rectification to this.

- France is a "laïque" country, it means that religion, whatever it is, is not welcome at school. If you come at school with a "jesus is my lord and savior" shirt, a kippa, a hijab or any obvious religious sign, you will need to change. It is one of the main points of our constitution.

- In universities, women can wear hijabs, I'm currently studying in France and I can attest that they can

- Burkini were banned and it caused quite the scandal in France. The justification is that as people from "occident" we see the dissimulation of a woman's body as something that can be an obligation by a man or a patriartcal society or religion. And for the government, there are other solution to cover your body that the burkini, which is officialy a religious coverage.

- Halal markets exists and there is also halal products sold in almost every supermarket, it will not be ban

- Mothers who wear veil can be around or in school without problem, I don't even see how it would be possible to prevent them to be near schools. In some place, or cities, almost every women wear some kind of veil, so...

- Everyone can choose the gender of their doctor for a consultation. The exception are places were there is only one doctor for several cities or emergencies. If you came giving birth at a hospital or bleeding , you will be attend to by whoever is there. Man or woman.

- To resume, religion is not something that should dictate, or even be a part of, you public life in France. It's almost against our constitution. And being veiled is seen as an extreme way of practicing Islam. Many muslim women aren’t. In the same way, catholics who show their religion in their public life or job can be judged too but it isn't shown by clothes so it's harder to pass a law against it.

Women who wear a simple veil or hijab aren’t bothered by the law (even if racism is always a problem), it's concern those who wear burkas, facial veils and burkini (who can be replace by a leggin and a long sleeve shirt and then there is no problem). Honestly is ther a non-muslim country where they can wear complete burkas without any skin or eyes visible ?

I don't say that islamophobia is not a problem in France, it is and it is a big problem. But laicity is a pillar for our country and it concerns every religions.
