If you feel like you’ve seen this alread, that’s normal. This list of recommendation has been previously posted on my first account @praestantias which has been deleted for some reasons. So here I am, reposting it. 

Hating how elitist and eurocentric the dark academia community became, I would truly appreciate that you leave some recommendation of book written by people of color, for I noticed that I am guilty of the eurocentric part, but I am really want to educate myself and read more non-white books.

how to love a dark academic:

• write them letters and seal the envelopes with fancy wax seals

• buy them books

• write them poetry

• quote shakespeare, or really any other author or playwright to them

• read and discuss books with them

• listen to their 3 am rants on how we could've heard oscar wilde's voice if he'd had lived just a tad longer

• help them study

the disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

not a single vampire boy has slid into my asks and i am immeasurably disappointed

i think the sweetest thing someones ever done for me is when my ex wrote me a letter for christmas and its so nice i kept it even after we broke up but theres this bit where they compared us to the sun and moon and idk here it is:

“I’m Sun ‘cause I love positivity and kindness… and you’re the moon. Mysterious, beautiful, enchanting and you light up the dark. You help guide those in darkness like the moon to sailors late at night… Although opposites in quite significant ways (you love english i like maths) they are quite perfect for each other.”

but this is probably the most romantic thing ill get and i love it so u keep it in my purse, yeah ik people say to move on and get rid of things that remind you of your ex but i dont think you always have to especially if you ended on okay terms

I love dark academia because it's such a twist on reality. It's like living like everyone else lives but in a more exciting way. You care about details, you perform mundane tasks with such passion, you read books like there's no tomorrow. It's almost as if there's this imaginary parallel universe that you're transported to once you're into the dark academia aesthetic.
