Kai is wandering around the place, probably lost again, and finds an office with a door slightly open. He stops for a moment, considering just going about his day, but (being the slightly nosy person he is) decides some friendly conversation couldn't hurt.

He pushes the door open, "Anyone in here?"

“This doofus wants me to use this.”

She holds up the mistletoe, examining it

“I’m not familiar with the tradition though. Is there really a binding spell that makes two people kiss? How does the holder trick the victim into stepping under their trap?”

Pheonix sighs

“Well, you know her. Romance is not her forte.”

I Expect You To Party

A party set to celebrate both Christmas and the New Year across dimensions / universes.

(Feel free to add what each of your Phoenixes / EOD Agents will do.)

A Christmas and New Year party set in a different dimension or universe is definitely a novel experience for Agent Phoenix, or in this case Agent 13-12. With the influx of multiple Agent Phoenixes, they decided to use a different code to distinguish themself from... well, every other Agent Phoenix.

They held out their hand, telekinesis activating as they plopped down the mango float, a dessert made of graham, whipped cream, and mangos.

"Too bad you're caught up on some things, Handler Sir~" They chuckled, touching their earpiece as their handler decided to protest, something about them giving him paperwork to do.

It only served to make them laugh.

In the background, a younger agent with blue hair was yelling at a different agent to get down from the Christmas tree.

"Wraith, I swear! Get down from there!" Agent Typhoon huffed. His handler, Elira (more affectionately called Ellie), just watches in the distance. She is beside another handler named Blue, discussing their kids agents' missions.

Blue's agent, Shadow, is sneaking off to form her own plan, a grin plastered on her face as she approaches Typhoon.

Another Phoenix, affectionately called Wyvern, approaches 13-12 as the latter was busy placing the food down.

Neither of them acknowledge the implicit food theft due to another Phoenix, Bluenix or Nix for short, taking control of the music and drawing their attention.

"You're doing that to spite them, aren't you?" A different agent, codename Smitten, with blonde hair and green eyes sat close to a different Phoenix who goes by "Sage" eating in the corner. He sighed upon seeing the spoon and fork floating at the distance.

Just arriving at the place was Agent 043, another Phoenix who immediately saw their baby siblings and went to them immediately.

Some other Agent Phoenixes have been invited and the party is about to start.

It’s Handler week, baby!

If you didn’t know, Handler week was a code name for some sort of even on the official I expect you to die website. I thought it was some sort of holiday before, but why not make it a holiday? And so that’s what this is! A week to honor our favorite voice in our ear💛

Pt 2 of Pheoness and Reggie fluff!

Paperwork and files was scattered all over his desk and even some on the floor. Reginald’s body was on his couch, seemingly unconscious. “Reginald..?” She whispered, taking a small step inside. No response. She repeated herself a little louder but still nothing from him. She quietly makes her way to the couch. He was just asleep, his eyes were shut tightly and she could here a light snore from him every now and then. The poor thing was probably exhausted from all his work. The thing Pheoness was most worried about was the visible tear stains that ran down his cheeks. Without warning, his body tensed up and his breathing quickened. It was as if he was in pain. Pheoness, slightly startled, shook him gently to wake him up. His eyes fluttered open at her touch and his eyes landed on Pheoness “Oh..Agent…what are you doing here..? You should’ve gone home by now.” He muttered. His voice seemed a little strained. “I just came in to check on you..” she sat in front of the couch “What’s wrong…? You look like you were having a panic attack in your sleep?” He rubbed his eyes warily “Just…some silly nightmares…really nothing of your concern.” She raised an eyebrow “If it’s so silly then…what’s…this..?” She says, gently wiping a tear of his cheek. He sighs, knowing he can’t lie to her “Just….promise you won’t tell anyone? Not even Agent Pheonix?” She nods calmly, waiting for him to tell her what was on his mind “Ever since you two survived the Death Engine…it’s hard not to think about….if you didn’t.” Did she hear her right? He was worried about her and Pheonix? So much that he’s having nightmares about it?! Pheoness put on a stoic expression, even though she wanted to cry there and then. How was she supposed to deal with this? She wasn’t good at comfort and she certainly wasn’t used to someone caring. She hesitantly placed a hand on his head, giving his head a slight pat before combing her fingers through his hair. “Am I doing this right..?” She asked awkwardly. This was the last thing he thought she would do, but it wasn’t unwelcome. “It’s….oddly comforting..” he says with a content sigh. Physical touch wasn’t her thing, but she felt herself slowly getting used to it. And if it made her friend happy, she was comfortable with continuing. He would probably know how much his concern meant to her. They stayed in silence for a few minutes, Reginald’s eyes slowly drooping shut. Pheoness stopped when she noticed he finally feel back into a peaceful slumber, she gently took his glasses off his face and set it on his desk. It was late enough and she should go to sleep to be up to work tomorrow. “Goodnight, Reggie…” she whispered. She couldn’t stop thinking about how precious he was before shutting the door behind her.

The smell of hand sanitizer lingered in the air as Pheoness regained her senses. One of her hands gripped at the fabric of the mattress and the sound of slow beeping was muffled in her ears. As her vision became clearer, it was evident where she was. Bad memories flooded her brain, causing her breathing to become unsteady. She wanted to run and hide, but her broken body wouldn’t let her. She heard the ER’s rhythmic beeps speeding up as she struggled. “Hey, hey, it’s okay…thank goodness you’re alive….” That soothing voice along with a gentle grip on her hand anchored her to reality. She looked at her hand, which was intertwined into a slightly larger one. “I’m right here, agent….” She turns her head toward her Handler, just him being there helped her calm down. Though, he seemed less than alright. His hair was a mess and his eyes were bloodshot with small trails running down his cheek. She didn’t care anymore that they were “breaking protocol” and caressed his hand gently with her thumb, the pad of her finger rubbing against his calloused knuckles. “Reginald…W..what happened…?” He smiled softly when he heard her voice “You don’t remember anything from last night?” He responded. Pheoness clutched her head, groaning. “The last thing I remember were setting off those mines.” “Well, it was a long day for you…If I’m being honest, I thought-“ his voice slightly falter, cracking slightly until his voice is a small whimper “Me and Pheonix didn’t think you’d make it.” This only makes her give his hand a gentle squeeze “Hey, I’m okay…just…tell me what happened after..please…you know I love it when you tell stories…”

Reginald’s lips slightly curve upwards “After you left to meet Phoenix, it wasn’t long after the security found out I was from the agency. I came sprinting to the wine cellar and was finally safe with you guys. But…I accidentally led them to you. I didn’t mean to…I…think that you being here, it’s all my fault….” She shushes him while he was rambling “I bet whatever happened wasn’t your fault..now go on…” she couldn’t help it. The smooth sound of his voice, the feel of his skin under hers, maybe affection WAS something she was missing out on all her life. “Well…” Reginald continued “He found you guys and after they found out the door was locked and barred-“ Reginald’s voice slowly fades as she starts to remember, how could she ever forget.

“Just shoot the agent! A-ARE YOU WEARING MY MASK?!” Juniper shouted through the door. Pheoness realized she kept The Fabricator’s mask on “Oh, THIS?!” She mocked him, dangling the mask and making SURE he could see it “Thanks for this and the briefcase, but you’re not getting either of them back.” John Juniper let out a furious grumbled and muttered out “You know what to do…” Without a moments notice, she saw a laser aimed at Pheonix “Pheonix watch out!” She called, but certain he could dodge. He’s smart enough to see the obvious laser pointed at him “What do you mean?” Pheonix asked with a raised eyebrow. She stands corrected. Then she remembered: his eye. He couldn’t see out of his left eye due to their tussle with Gibson. Acting on instinct, she shoved Pheonix out of the way, but as she just made contact with him, she heard the loud BANG of the gunshot followed by the agonizing sound of teared flesh. A breathless gasp escaped her as she looked down. Her beautiful dress was now torn at her stomach with blood gushing down the skirt as her body violently met the cold ground. Reginald’s horrified scream was a deaf ring to her ears, for all she could sense was the pain in her core. She knew if she even moved a little bit, her body would shut down. The only thing other than pain was the feel of Reginald’s warm tears on the sleeve of her arm “Close the hatch!” She faintly heard Pheonix shout before a loud explosion vibrated the floor she was now motionless on. Her heart was slowly pumping, doing anything to keep on beating. Her vision blurred and for a while, her vision was completely stripped from her, so she had to rely on her hearing to sense what was happening, which was extremely hard because all she heard was shrill cries and shouts and the faint pattering of feet. When her vision finally became somewhat clearer, she could faintly make out Reginald’s face, the look of despair shimmering in his tear filled eyes, “A…agent…please…everyone needs you…y-you can’t leave now…” she could faintly hear him beg in a broken voice and it forced burning tears into her eyes. Pheonix was also crying, trying to stifle the blood flow from her with no avail. She could hear their sniffles and soft whimpers and then…

She could hear nothing at all

She saw her dead, bloody body. The lifeless stare in her eyes as her found family clutched her unmoving corpse. “No…No…guys..I’m not dead…I’m right here…I’m coming..” she says, about to touch her body when a firm grip squeezed at her arm “And what do you think you’re doing?” A familiar voice called out, she looked behind her to see that familiar, faceless silhouette she saw back at the theater “Leave me alone. I want to see my family again. I don’t want them to think I died.” She admitted “And how long are you gonna keep doing this?! What happens till these mortals who aren’t as lucky as you die as well?!” The figure commanded “Listen, I just need a few more tries, the world needs me….I can’t just die…” the figure lets go of her arm “Fine, but you can’t keep doing this…one day I’m bound to obtain you and your mortal friends.” She nodded, hearing one last thing before returning to her mortal body

“Just know you can’t keep running from your problems forever, Alyna.”

“And that’s what happened. Pheonix stayed at your side for a long time but he finally went home.” Reginald’s voice found its way in her mind again as he ended his story. Of course he doesn’t know about that last part, and no one could know about it. Not him, not Pheonix. But she did want to tell him about why she was so scared, so she does. Informing him about her past and why she was so distant to him and Pheonix at first. He listened intently to her, hanging onto every word she said.

“I see…you’re a tough one, yknow that? Stubborn at times, but tough.” He said when she finished, resting his head against their intertwined hands. “I’m just…glad you’re okay…”

“And I’m glad you’re here, mi grùa.”

Reginald melted at the nickname, letting out a soft sigh. The pet names were definitely new, but not unwanted

“Mi Precioso Fénix..”
