This is part of my aversion with just going to the doctor, though in the opposite direction. I've been 'underweight' for a good portion of my adult life and just telling me to gain weight didn't actually help when I didn't feel hunger at all. Being 'thin' isn't as good as most people think.

I think the thing that drives me the most batshit about the medical fatphobia conversation is that the burden of proof feels so exactly backwards. Just from an obvious best practices standpoint???

Things like intentional malnourishment, intentionally incapacitating vital organs through surgery, denial of potentially lifesaving medical care until those things are done, etc.

Those are all pretty extreme. The kinds of things it feels like a “first do no harm” system should have a lot of solid evidence for before recommending or implementing them.

But they’re so bog standard and accepted and everyone from doctors to your own family will look at you like you’re a flat-earther when you suggest maybe we shouldn’t be defaulting to that.

These tags, tho! But I always thought that meds were made small so they were over and done with more easily than the herbal.

But also it means that sometimes we don't even register the body sensation if we're doing something that has all our attention.

For years I would look at posts and questionnaires about neurodivergence that takes about being so focused on something that you forgot to eat and be like, "Couldn't be me. Being hungry is so uncomfortable! Your stomach is growling and cramping? How do you ignore that?"

Then someone informed me that neurotypical people have a whole bunch of "hungry" sensations before they get to that point.....

Skip Google for Research

As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.

www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.

www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.

https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.

www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.

http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.

www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.

www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.

www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

This, yes!¡!

No one reblogs on tumblr anymore.

No one leaves comments on Ao3 anymore.

Seriously people the lack of fandom interaction these days makes me genuinely depressed, it never used to be like this, makes me wonder what's the point of coming online to do anything anymore.

Reblog a post so other people can see it.

Leave a comment so the author doesn't feel like giving up.

Fandom cannot live on Likes or Kudos alone.

!!!¡!!!

Aaaaah, I forgot how weird my dreams can get when I go to sleep normally instead of taking sudaphed before bed every night!

My brain decided to dream about a bleach/dc crossover for absolutely no reason XD

adult!Uryuu in gotham as a visiting professor at the local college. He sees a Hollow, decides he’s bored as hell and goes out to fight it. Batman goes “wtf” and grumps at him bc Archer Standing In Midair. Also You Look Familiar. Are you Seriously Not Even Going To Try To Hide Who You Are.

Uryuu is both confused and a little incredulous about this – “Who would believe you if you told them?”

And of course Batman’s just “………… So what do you know about current events in America” which confuses Uryuu more which makes Batman more grumpy XD

It was kinda hilarious, honestly. I don’t think I’ll actually write a one-shot with that crossover, but it was a fun dream.

This just reminds me of the question 'are alcoholic people more flammable than normal people?' this was just due to the fact that most of my family are pyromaniacs and that we have a significant amount of Irish in us...
