If this was “people from Montana” it would be an entirely valid summary of the play I’m in right now.
People from Wyoming
This is the pinnacle of art.
I mean, it spans the full range of emotion. Mystery and curiosity, struggle and anger, generosity and adorableness, it has it all. And what greater art is there than cats?

I love it, it’s like they’re all Harry Potter newspapers! Actually I bet the editors of the Gotham Gazette and the Daily Prophet would get along fairly well. Well, the Gotham Gazette is probably a bit more accurate, but clearly they still love some sensationalism. Anyways, this is some very clever editing.

This will never stop being the perfect mix of adorable, adventurous, and mystical--truly the winner of all Halloween comics :)
Cool blog! Love everything I have looked at. lol
Aaw, thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying it :) Ever since I split off my sideblog (blagueofchaos), and even before that to some extent, I’ve tried to keep this one as the place for pretty much my top favorite things of the moment, so hopefully it stays pretty nice.
Oh, and sorry if I went a bit wild likespamming your blog the other day, by the way. Sometimes Tumblr shows me a blog and I go through and like a bunch of things.
(I forget there isn’t a place for tags on asks for some reason. I actually drafted my reply in a doc beforehand because I know Tumblr does weird things with asks if you don’t answer them all at once, and I wrote a bunch of tags for this; apparently I can put a cut in, so I’ll stick them under the cut.)
#for the record people are always allowed to likespam my things #I just get self-conscious of my likespamming ways sometimes because I’ve seen one or two posts complaining about people who do that #but for better or worse that’s kind of just how I tumblr #but yeah welcome to my blog! Happy to have you and glad you like it :) #your ask made me smile :) #by the way I know I have other asks in my inbox that I haven’t touched yet. Sorry about that if you have been waiting months for an answer #this one was just easier to respond to. #I’ll get to the others eventually! Here and on blagueofchaos too #I am a slow blogger #except when I’m being chaotic. hence the sideblog #asks #I am pretty excited to be someone who gets asks #although I’ve basically sworn off reblogging ask games since I’m so slow to answer things I get #I just have this need to fully say my piece about things I guess #which is another aspect of this blog; it’s the one where I comment everything I’m thinking on the posts I reblog pretty much #it just feels like the one where I need to Say Things #I suppose in part because it was my first non-blogspot blog so I’ve been treating it as a more Formal Blog where I Speak on Things #which is also why my blog description is kinda quirky and non-tumblr-y #anyways I am overexplaining in the tags once again #even in the tags I ramble #yes this is why it takes me so long to answer things #ah communications in the strange lande of tumblr #at least I put more of my rambling in the tags than I used to I suppose #(haha I wrote that not knowing there wouldn’t be actual tags on this post #maybe if I edit it after it’s posted I can fix this IDK #or I may just leave all this under the cut)
Shoutout to my Monkees mutuals for reminding me about the Monkees and their music; now I'm thinking about how She is such a season 2 Damon talking about Katherine song.
Meanwhile, 1864 Damon is of course firmly Vampire Girl by the Misfits (he would die for her, and he did).
I love reading all the stories here; I’ve been up and down the notes and I have several versions saved to my drafts, one of which I’ve begun writing out my own Fae story on. However, this post has actually had an influence on how I interpret the play I’m currently in, so it seems only appropriate to reblog a version of it on the eve of our play opening as well.
The play is called Almost, Maine, and it’s a subtly surrealist series of small town romances. The blurb on the back of the script describes it as “a midwinter night’s dream”. Basically, weird, seemingly mystical things are happening in the lives of people in this town as they fall in and out of love, and at the end of the night, everyone sees the northern lights. You could read it just abstractly as ‘the northern lights make weird (or should I say wyrd) things happen’, or you could even rationalize most of the things away, but I’ve decided that it makes sense that Almost (that’s the name of the town) just has a very heavy Fae presence and the Fae--likely excited by the northern lights--are meddling in everyone’s affairs--much like in Midsummer Night’s Dream.
I even decided that one of the characters I play, Ginette, actually is a Fae who left the Fae realm because she’s in love with a human, Pete. That explains, for me, how she *SPOILERS* walks all the way around the Earth in about 10 minutes for him--it’s done with the Fae magic she has, but in my interpretation, she has literally travelled all that distance for him. Then, when the northern lights appear at the end, it’s even deeper for me, because I’ve decided that for Ginette that’s a sign that the Fae have finally approved of her romance with Pete.
Pete would be incredibly overwhelmed by all this. He freaks out when she says “I love you” for the first time. It’s best he doesn’t know all this.
Anyways, I know this is a digression from the main subject matter of this post, but I just wanted to share how considering the Fae has been useful to me in deepening my acting and my character backstories. Thanks for all the great stories!

I promised to share the sources that inspired my Oswald Cobblepot nail art, so here they are. The step-by-step penguin nails came from here: http://confettiavenue.com/penguin-nail-art/
(The tutorial there says to use a ‘dotting tool’, but I just brushed polish onto the end of a toothpick. To do the stripes and the stem of the umbrella, I brushed up the side of the toothpick.)
The purple umbrella nails were both from pinterest:

So I’ve been thinking I’ll probably do sharpie tatts again for my MCR show next week, and it’s a little soon yet to be drawing the ones I’ll actually have on for the show, but it’s gotten me yearning to draw on myself again, and with all the excitement about Badflower tonight (or last night now I’m posting it, but they open again tonight too), I thought, what if I just... gave myself a Badflower sharpie tattoo. For funsies?
So if you’re unfamiliar with their band logo, it looks like this:
So I started by attempting to draw their signature flower on my wrist. I decided to do it in blue rather than black just because I prefer to have some color in my sharpie tatts, even if they’re monochrome. It didn’t exactly turn out super accurately, but, well... the band’s not called Goodflower now are they? Lol. Then it just worked out that I put their name underneath rather than attempting to go on top of the flower, which would’ve required more planning and less coloring in the center. So then it looked like this:
but I wanted to do a little bit more, and incorporate some lyrics into it too. I started looking through some of the lyrics of my favorite Badflower songs, at which point I remembered, oh yeah, a lot of these are really quite grim, lol; I did come up with a few potential selections, but none of them were Vibing just right. But then I was looking at 30 and I saw “so raise up your glasses to going out of fashion!” and it just clicked into place. I mean, one of the great things about doing sharpie tatts instead of real permanent tattoos is that the things one draws on don’t have to be your only all-time favorite absolute best picks from all possible options; I considered going through more options after that, but I felt good about that line, so I went ahead and added it in.
It felt energizing and defiant, full of weird-and-proud energy; it also seemed a bit appropriate after the night’s twitter dramas. Of course, I have trouble planning spacing and I’m just freehanding this (all the more reason I’m glad this isn’t a ‘real’ tattoo), so the “to going out of fashion” part wound up on two lines, and my script is kind of funky and hard to read in places, but you know, it’s probably not going to last a full week, and I like it. Actually I fell asleep while writing this earlier and I just woke up at like 5:30 and looked at my arm and went “what the-- oh yeah I did do that,” but this is another good thing about sharpie tattoos, that it’s okay when they just sort of appear on your arm in the morning, lol. The text in a circle around the roughly circular logo also reminds me of the Red Hot Chili Peppers logo, come to think of it, but that’s not a bad thing I suppose. Anyways, I am really quite fond of it, so I wanted to go ahead and show off my pics while it’s fresh. “Raise up your glasses to going out of fashion” indeed! I love Badflower, I love their music, it’s 6am now and I want to get back to sleep and this post is probably messy and in need of editing, but I’m going to go ahead and post about my funky little Badflower tattoo now because it’s weird and I like it.
Sparkly kitty! <3 Someone’s had an adventure with glitter...
