I was able to tell the differences between Honda and Hyundai by the way you say them. Honda sound straight and sturdy, so it's the one with straight H. Though Hyundai sounds sway-ish and a little bit drunk, so it's the leaning H.

I have no idea what those other are 😅

Johan Theorin: Sankta Psyko

Johan Theorin: Sankta Psyko

Johan Henrik Theorin (* September 3, 1963, Gothenburg) is a Swedish writer. Throughout his life, Johan Theorin was a frequent and regular visitor to the Baltic island of Öland, where he also located his books. His mother's family lived here for centuries and was engaged in fishing and farming, many of whom were also sailors. Thanks to this, he was heavily influenced by the local environment and local folklore. Currently, he lives in Gothenburg and works as a journalist.

Jan Hauger, a twenty-nine-year-old teacher, is coming to work in a kindergarten in a larger city on the west coast of Sweden. But the Gläntan is not a normal kindergarten - it is adjacent to the St. Patrick's Psychiatric Clinic, which is called Saint Psycho, where psychologically disturbed perpetrators of violent crimes are interned. Among them are the parents of children from Gläntan. The purpose of the children in the kindergarden is to allow their parents to be contacted. One of Jan's responsibilities is to escort children through the underground tunnel that connects the kindergarden and the clinic. Jan is a capable teacher, who, however has a lot of secrets - for example, why he wants so much to work in the Gläntan or what happened a few years ago when he went with a group of children from a kindergarten where he worked before for a walk in the forest and one of them was missing when he returned.

I have read some of Johan Theorin's crime-fiction novels and I like them, mainly because this writer is truly a master of atmosphere. His crimes are tightly plotted, his characters credible, and his sense of place is perfectly executed. In this one, The Asylum, that lovely gothic, creepy atmosphere is there - but to be quite honest, I'd have to say that it's my least favorite work by this author. It starts out with all the right elements: a mental hospital that also houses the criminally insane as well as an experimental kindergarden for children whose family members are patients there, a young man looking to reconnect with a piece of his past, and a sense of dread that fills the reader with instant tension that rarely lets up.

But by the time I finished, I was actually disappointed. It was about 415 pages thick book and when I was at page number 401 something finally started to happen. But after the 14 pages at the end I was like: “WHAT? That’s it? I had to read through 401 pages of almost nothig just to get this?” Please don’t get me wrong, some passages were really well written, but it was mostly about jumping from past to present and to even further past. It looked so good, when I first opened it. And I don’t know about others languages, but to my main language I would say it could be better translated. For example right the title doesn’t make much sense. The original name is Sankta Psyko - Saint Psycho in english right? That’s good. It’s almost the same. But here it’s called Hideout (or something in that manner). And that has nothing to do with the plot of the story. It’s not about hiding or anything like that.

Arrgh! One of my favorite authors tries something new and it just didn't work for me. However, the getting there was the best part - my stomach was tied in knots for much of the reading time from the suspense, especially Jan's attempts to get into the hospital - up until the last few chapters which were a complete letdown - too pat, not realistic and frankly, not befitting the quality of this author's other work.

I love that they made it really look like sushi. Like, the eels won't care, but they go that extra step to make it pretty.

I bet that eels have fun. I bet that eels just love hanging out in their big old sinuous eel-swarms.

The Path of Destiny - The Blue Moon Ch 6.

Hi everyone :-) I hope you enjoyed the last part. Here comes the next one :D

———————————————————————————

After a while Arian returned with an armful of different bottles and packages.

“I did not know what was going to come in handy, so I took it all.” he folded them in front of Eunis, who began studied them. She carefully examined the writings of individual receptacles. Each contained a different amount of different fluids. Her attention was caught by one glass and brightly decorated bottle. Medicine in it was only at the bottom. When she turned, she saw neatly described by name label of the content.

“Look. Extract from Bortensis.” she smiled. “It will come in han....”

“Karmisha.” whispered Arian.

“Oh dear. I totally forgot about her.” she gasped. Arian turned and scuttled toward the house, where they left her. Eunis got up and ran after him.

“I´ll be back soon. Don´t go anywhere.” she called over her shoulder at Sankore. He had tried to sign her with a wave in approval, but then he twisted with painful spasms. Arian was standing in front of house when she caught up with him. They stared in disbelief at the remains of the front wall. Eunis felt chills ran down her spine. Her home. Arian stepped toward the door. He gently pushed them. The door cracked open with a creak and then fell to the ground with a thud. Cloud of dust was lifted from the ground. He slowly passed through into a dusty room. Eunis followed him slowly. Things were scattered on the ground. The furniture was broken and moved. It was hardly recognizable, it was the kitchen before. Eunis can´t believe her eyes. Who would do this? Then they went through the right door to her room. Arian stiffened. He stared at the pile of rocks beside the bed. Eunis go to look there too. She covered her mouth with her hand. One of quilts they gave Karmisha to the basket was peeping out from under a pile of debris. Then she turned to Arian. He clenched his fists tightly and closed his eyes. Upon his face a tear rolled down. He took a deep breath to calm himself. Suddenly the wind picked up. It blew through the empty window shutters and a ruined roof. Gently and quietly. It ruffled Arian´s hair and was fiddling with blue silk of Eunis´s dress. But it strengthened. Eunis put her hand on his shoulder. He looked at her.

“I'm so sorry.” she said, tears in corners of her eyes. Arian nodded sadly, but then he suddenly tensed. The wind abated, and then stopped to blow completely.

“What the ...” she said, but Arian had has gestured to her to be quiet. Then she heard it too. Weak scratching of small claws.

“You hear that?” he asked. She nodded. A quiet whine was added to the scratching. It was coming from under the bed. Arian knelt down and looked under the dusty wooden frame. For a moment he looked around there, then he fumbled with his hands there.

“Can you lift the bed little? I can´t fit there.” he asked her. Eunis raised the bed as high as she could, but even so, the difference amounted to only a few centimeters. It was heavier than it seemed. Arian´s upper half of the body disappeared under the bed.

“Hurry.” she insisted. “I can´t hold it much longer.”

“Don´t let go. It will be in a moment.” he assured her. After a moment he truly came out with a ball of gray in his arms. Once he was at a safe distance, she dropped the bed on the floor. Clouds of dust lifted, and all three choked. When the dust sat down, she saw what Arian was holding. Eunis smiled with a delight. Arian had held Karmisha. She was a gray from dust, but otherwise she fine. He was clutching her tightly to his chest, nearly crushed her. Eunis patted her hip. A pale green stripe of original color appeared in a gray fur. Karmisha shook the dust off. When she finished, she was again beautifully lush green. But Eunis with Arian were now whole dirty. But they didn´t mind at all. Mainly, Karmisha was fine. They came out in front of the house to take a breath of fresh air. Arian laid Karmisha down and started dusting himself. Eunis she looked at her bandaged leg. Carefully she removed the bandage and splint. Karmisha slightly stood on the injured leg. She quietly whimpered and limped to Arian.

“It looks good.” she said. “Only a few days and will be completely healed.” Arian looked thoughtfully at Karmisha that rubbed against his legs.

“I wonder how she managed to get under the bed with that hurt leg.” Eunis shrugged.

“We should go after Sankore.” she said. “I still have to look at his health.”

“That's right.” he agreed. He took Karmisha and went to the smithy. Sankore obediently sat in his place in front of a ruined smithy. He held his left arm and was saying something quietly. It had simple but nice melody. The words rhymed. Eunis with Arian sat beside him and listen to his melodious voice.

During recitation he was looking at the sky, but once he finished, he looked at his audience, smiling. Then his gaze turned to the small ball in Arian's arms.

“So this was the second emergency patient?” he asked, stroking her soft fur.

“Her name is Karmisha.” Arian said. “It´s a cub of Morphix and a good friend of mine. In the morning I found her injured, but Eunis cured her. I dare to say that you are now in very good hands.” Eunis blushed and blacksmith gave her a warm smile.

“Don´t mention it. Now I see how I can help you.”
