Colour Magick Correspondences & Ideas

Pretty easily applied for both beginner, closet and experienced practitioners alike! Can be used in most areas of mundane and magickal life (with some ideas listed below).

White

→ Cleansing, clarity, blessing, healing, innocence, truth, connection to spirits or the spiritual world, divine connection, consecration, dream work, psychic connection, purity, rest, moon magic, angelic work, devotion, harmony, prayer, peace, purification, universal truths. White can also be used as an all-purpose color for your intention when the color you want is not available.

Black

→ Banishing, transformation, uncrossing, endings, domination, protection, reversing, repulsion, freedom from evil, cursing, cloaking, sophistication, security, emotional safety, closure, breaking patterns, grief, mourning, absorbing, removing, trapping, encasing, the unconscious, mystery, shielding from the evil eye, *similarly to white - as black is an absence of colour it can be used for any colour if you don’t have them available* - personal opinion

Red

→ Passionate love, energy, action, attraction, sexuality, magnetism, will, force, anger, fire within, courage, warmth, lust, drive, pleasure, vitality, vigor, excitement, desire.

Orange

→ New opportunities, new ventures, new beginnings, change of plans, encouragement, opening the way, removing blocks, physical comfort, warmth, security, ambition, creativity, courage, optimism.

Yellow

🖤 Spell Jar for Protection 🖤

Ingredients/Equipment

Chilli Flakes (or Chilli Powder, whatever's around) - to ward off unwanted guests

Rosemary - purification, protection

Salt - absorbing negative energy, protection, purification

Black Pepper (both peppercorns and grounded) - banish negativity, protection from evil

3 Bay Leaves - protection from harmful energies

Protection Sigil or a Banish Negativity Sigil

Preferably Black Candle to seal the jar (white may be used as a substitute as I have done)

A Jar

A Funnel (trust me, if you don't use one shit will go everywhere, make and use a homemade paper funnel if you need to)

Spell Method

Cast a protective circle or do your own pre-spell rituals, whatever works for you and light the candle

Cleanse your equipment and ingredients (I use specific ritual incense but again whatever works for you, sage burning, etc)

Put the ingredients in the jar one at a time, repeating a chosen affirmation for protection with each one. The order doesn't nessicarily matter as the intent is what's most important. However, I recommend leaving the bay leaves until last

Use a marker to draw a sigil that represents protection or banishing negativity on at least one of the bay leaves. If you need to break up the leaves to fit them in the jar that's okay; again, the intention is what's most important

Close the jar and seal it with the wax from the candle

Concentration Sachet

➔ For a lot of us, exams and final projects are coming up as our semesters come to an end. Regardless, everyone could use help concentrating every once and awhile!

         [materials]

vanilla incense 

rosemary

coffee beans

a baggy (preferably cloth)

yellow string

(As always, everything is optional! Things can be added or ignored, to suit your own resources and preferences.)

➔ First, light your incense. I like to burn vanilla for spells that involve mental processes, and it seems to work especially well for concentration spells. However, it’s up to your preference! Another kind I like for concentration spells is myrhh. 

➔ Next, take your small bag. Try your best to avoid plastic, as it tends to act as an insulator for magic, much like with electricity.  Fill your bag up with coffee beans (if you don’t have any, simply coffee grounds work too!) and rosemary. It should be half and half of each.  Use your string to either tie off your baggy, or wrap around it. As you do so, chant;

“Absolute determination, sharp and clear concentration, focused, strong, resolute fail me not, falter not, my mind is mine and I control it.” 

➔ Next, pass the sachet through the smoke of your incense, watching carefully as the smoke curls around it and engulfs it, letting your mind be utterly engrossed in the action. This intense concentration should be felt through your whole body, even in the hand that holds the sachet, feeling the energy flowing into it like a closed circuit.

Now, whenever you need to focus on something (like at work, while studying, while in an exam) carry your sachet with you. 

A perpetual spell to cope with intrusive thoughts

Thanks to severe OCD and PTSD, I’m often stuck in my own head with a bunch of intrusive and obsessive nonsense. I came up with a perpetual banishing and transmutation spell to help process and deal with unwanted thoughts.

The Banishing Bin functions somewhat like a computer’s recycle bin:

write unwanted thought/feeling on a sticky note or piece of small paper

draw banishing/transmutation sigil over words

fold up paper and throw in banishing bin 

burn/rip/trash them during the waning crescent or dark moon

This is a great spell if you’re a spoonie or not open about your craft. It’s fairly easy to perform and store without raising eyebrows (it literally just sits on my bookcase unsuspiciously). I found the mini trashcan at a local discount store for a couple dollars. The cheapest one I can find online can be purchased from Amazon here, but you can use any container you like as a bin. If you don’t have a banishing sigil you’re already working with, feel free to use mine.

~*~ “Letting Go” Jar

Something to put your guilts, fears and hiccups into. Draws away their power, cleanses them, and protects you. Very soothing.

- empty jar - epsom salt - turquoise stones (could use black stones too) - lavender oil - problems written on scraps of paper – put the lid on tightly and shake –

Most spells like this say to bury the jar or hide it in your closet - but that’s the opposite of what you want to do with your problems. It’s sealed, put it on your shelf if you want and add to it/shake it whenever. Looking at it should remind you you’re so much bigger than those problems; you’ve let go of them.

🌙 Lazy Witch Tip: As you softly call upon the elements, write your spell on the air with either the tip of your finger or a crystal point. When you’re finished, gently blow your spell into the universe. Feel the breeze against your skin and be at peace.
