11. Secret relationship

Fabian pulls away fully and puffs out a breath. He has to close his eyes to keep himself from admiring how Riz’s mouth is swollen from kisses, the way he bites his lower lip like he’s trying to keep the taste of Fabian in. “I know.”

“If your friends find out – “

“I know.” He rests his forehead on Riz’s, grinding his teeth.

Riz kisses him again. Fabian is so easily swayed by Riz’s kisses – sharp and deep and unbearably soft, like Fabian is something precious, something delicate. He loses himself in it, right away, completely loses why he should give any sort of fuck what Dayne or Penelope or Daybreak or anyone thinks, why anything should matter but the way Riz shudders when Fabian’s hand pushes up under his shirt.

“The team,” Riz gasps when they pull away again, wetly. Fabian gives up on trying to kiss him silent, presses his mouth to Riz’s neck instead, sucks along the bob of his throat as Riz scrambles for purchase. “Y-you’ll get, kicked off – “

“Riz, shut up.” Riz clams up at his name, finally shrinking into Fabian’s grip, eyelashes fluttering as Fabian kissing up against the edges of his mouth. “I get it, it was a stupid idea, I’ll drop it, just…”

Riz’s hand comes up to cup Fabian’s face. He’s so tender, like he’s looking straight through Fabian. It hits him again, the idea of leaving Riz his letterman’s jacket, overlarge, draped over him through the whole school day, with ‘SEACASTER’ emblazoned on the back so everyone in the whole goddamn school knows who Riz is dating, knows who Fabian is dating. He thinks about leaning down and kissing his boyfriend in the hallway, with stupid fucking Biz watching and knowing he doesn’t have a chance in hell with Riz. He thinks of what it would be like to kiss Riz after a game, when dismounting his motorcycle, between classes, in front of everyone, and his stomach jumps with it.

Riz kisses him again – blatant distraction technique – and Fabian lets him, lets himself get drawn into the feel of Riz’s teeth and mouth and fingers tight on the hairs at the back of his neck. Tomorrow, when he actually goes to school, he’ll be relieved Riz talked him out of it. But tonight. Tonight, he kisses Riz again, and doesn’t think about when he’ll have to stop.
