Let's make our own fate
Needed practice with Alastor's colors before going at it with the wip piece I have (which ironically enough is another red string of fate piece). But while I do oh so enjoy Alastor being an independent mammal who doesn't need no mate, I 100% still have fun shipping with him myself from time to time. And this ship is probably my favorite with him (and y'know what, you can take this as a QPR thing or romance thing, why not?)! And, might I add, severely underrated when it has elements of radiobelle, radioapple, and radiostatic (in terms of colors at least) wrapped up together- HOW ARE PEOPLE SLEEPING ON THIS SHIP HELLO???
Joking aside, Emily and Alastor are in a weird place for me where I like them in this ship dynamic (QPR or romantic), but I also like them in a dynamic similar to what Alastor and Charlie have if you're going the mentor-protege route or parent-child route. Which is a very strange to like those two very opposing dynamics (primarily the lovey dovey and parent-child aspects because y'know... )
I don't imagine these two will really interact much in canon, but I really would love to see how their interactions would go down and if they'd be at all different from how Charlie and Alastor interact (seeing as Emily and Charlie are a wee bit similar y'know?)
I'm glad you helped
If you are wondering why I am fighting with radfems, I was only responding because the person who reblogged the post was my moot. I was hoping they weren't too far gone down the pipeline, but it looks like I was wrong. That's why it's "was." Anyways support trans women.
This is the only take against the normalization of something I agree with.
Because "why don't you just enjoy what you like?" is like saying cringe culture isn't a thing at all
"can we normalize-" NO!!!!!! we do not need to expand whats considered normal!!! we need to teach people to stop reacting judgmentally when encountering something new and weird!!!! things dont need to be normal to be respected!!!!!!!!!!
I hate the perception that visibly or invisibly disabled people have it easier or harder. BOTH SUCK. Both suck because of shitty ableist assholes. Take it from someone who is both, depending on the day. Both are terrible! Neither has any real advantages! I promise you! The only privileges that any disabled people have over other disabled people is lack of quality medical care vs. having access to it and some other thing that I forgot because of severe brain fog but will update this with when I remember! Your enemy is not other disabled people unless they are ableists! Ableists are the problem! They hate us and question us and don't think we deserve to live! They! Are! The! Problem! Not! Each! Other!
Me who hates cringe culture๐งโโ๏ธ

Made a little something on slur reclamation.
It's somehow always about them.
Kinda fucked up that we all coo and sympathize with "former gifted kids" but never talk about the students who had to stay late after school or over the summer for remedial classes/clubs, who struggled to get above a C, who were given up on or punished. Who tried so hard to understand or just couldn't. Who were grouped with the "stupid kids" (a classmate called us that in remedial math btw)
Autistic kids and adhders who can't relate to their gifted peers and are constantly alienated by them. Kids who struggled in school due to dealing with a chronic or mental illness or physical/learning/developmental disability. Those of us who have had to drop out of highschool or college. Kids who worked so hard and wanted to be seen as smart, but never were. Who watched as their peers seem to fly by them in school, while they were left behind. Who were bullied and put down by those in the gifted and honors classes. Whose confidence was absolutely destroyed by education.
I love you all and I'm so sorry the school system failed you. I'm sorry you weren't properly accommodated and given the education you deserved. I'm sorry people put you down for something that they never had to fight for.
"Alastor is aroace, Viv is just afraid to make it canon because she doesn't want people fighting more about shipping then they already do."
And
"Alastor being aroace doesn't really matter when it comes to shipping because shipping as a whole is already not canon."
Are both truths that can coexist.

"You would if you wanted*
*advice that I already tried and failed many times to achieve*
*dismissing the bad sensation and burnout of doing x thing the older person can do easier just so you look "lively" to them*
*older person is radical and progressive yet subtly ableistic*
the way that when youre a young adult who is disabled/chronically ill older people often say things like
โjust wait until youre my ageโ
โyou young people are so soft nowโ
โwhen i was your age i wouldnโt have complained like thisโ
but when a child is disabled they consider it tragic, what do they think happens to disabled children do they not grow up to be disabled young adults? ๐ญ
"VivziePop highlighted Alastor's duality as a character and described him as being the type of person to own two homes, one a fancy townhouse, the other a rickety hunting lodge in a bayou on stilts." This is from the wiki and I have been thinking about it concerning who Alastor is on the show.
You can see the most obvious show of this duality in his room. The room moves from a rather tasteful room to a bayou where he apparently prefers to eat. There is a combination of civilization and wildness. There is the duality of how Alastor can go from seemingly harmless to a literal monster. He is as close to his human side as he is to his animal side.
The duality of being both predator and prey is something that I feel needs its own post to explore but the best example I can think of for creatures that exist with this duality are cats and how they are predators but also constantly worry that other creatures around them are going to hurt them. The duality of pride and fear can even be seen in this. Cats are known for their pride, but a lot of things scare them.
The duality in how he treats those he owns. We have seen Alastor's relationship with 2 of the souls he owns. Alastor is abusive to Husk while he treats Niffty with care. He drags Husk by his chain for disrespect but lets Niffty put a roach crown on his head and call him the roach king. Someone actually pointed out to me that Alastor is the only person at the hotel who treats Niffty like a person. The difference in his treatment of them is so great that some people started theorising that he doesn't own Niffty. However, it is just more of the duality in his nature. His capacity for kindness exists beside his capacity for cruelty.
Vivzie said that Alastor was a chaotic neutral character but also admitted that she wasn't familiar with the terms. She might have been referring to his dual nature and his existence as both good and evil with no idea which version of him you will get. It could also turn out that he is the type to do good for evil reasons and evil for good reasons.
Alastor is the type of character that is best understood when you understand that he is a character that is meant to hold contradicting traits. When only one side of the character is considered, much of the character's depth is lost.
