Pairings: Bucky x Reader
Summary: Bucky visiting you after you got hurt on a mission.
Words: ~500
A/N: Super duper short and quickie and bad, but it’s a little apology because I haven’t posted anything in millions of years & I’m super sorry for that.
Careful knocking coming from the door of your room dragged you awake from your calm sleep. You opened your eyes, rubbing your temples as the bright light sent hard waves of pain to gnash through your head.
Yet a bright smile took over your face as soon as you saw Bucky, peeking in from the crack of the door.
”Hey,” you smiled, letting out a soft laugh as you saw the big bunch of your favorite flowers in his hand. ”Please tell me you brought chocolate as well.”
His concerned frown losing in a battle with the amused smile, Bucky nod his head slowly. ”I did – Y/N, are you –”
”I’m okay, Bucky,” you smiled at him, nodding your head as a sign for him to come in. “To be honest, I’m way more than okay now that you’re here.”
Walking over to your bed, the brunet pulled you into his safe embrace, rocking you back and forth as his lips pressed gentle kisses to your hair.
”Gosh, Y/N I – for a moment I thought I lost you,” he mumbled, his heart arching in his chest.
”I know,” you whispered. ”But it’s just a little wound –”
”Little wound?” the brunet cried out, pulling slightly further from you. ”Doll, they shot you –”
You tried your hardest to fight back your laugh, yet failed as a bubbly laughter escaped your lips. ”To my leg, Bucky, and as much as I love to see the worried side of you, I truly am okay. The doctors said that I’ll be walking in no time –”
”Are you sure?” the man mumbled with a worried frown, letting out a relieved breath as you nodded your head. ”You know,” he spoke after a moment of silence, smirk taking over his lips, ”I’ll hate you forever for doing this to me.”
”For getting shot?” you snickered, making him space to lay next to you to the bed. ”How caring –”
”Just, stop talking, okay?” he laughed. ”It’s hard to be mad for you if you keep joking –”
”Oh, but I happen to know that you love it when I do that,” you chuckled, pressing your forehead to the crook of his neck. ”And to make a stop to all the hating,” you yawned, “I need you to love me.”
Smiling, Bucky played gently with your hair until your calm breathing told him, that you had fell asleep. Shaking his head with a smile, Bucky pressed a soft kiss to your forehead.
”If you only knew,” he then let out a soft laughter, “that I’m already in love with you, Y/N.”
24 and 35 for Peter please?
24. “If I trip over one more of your shoes, I’m throwing them all away.”35. “I’ll just tell your mom on you.”_____________________________________________________________
“Dan Reynolds, put that down!” you yell across the chaotic apartment, rushing towards the mischievous seven year-old holding the kitchen knife. He grins at you and drops it on the floor with a clatter before rushing away to find another part of the home to wreak havoc on.
Whoever said babysitting is fun is a dirty liar.
Placing the knife safely back into the block, you turn around and look for where the little monster went. Then you hear a knock on the door. Groaning, you head towards the door, already thinking of how you’re going to tell Mrs. Reynolds that you can’t babysit anymore. You cry out when you trip over something just as you reach the door, and you place your hands against it to regain your balance.
Looking down, you see another one of Dan’s shoes. “Daniel, if I trip over one more of your shoes, I’m throwing them all away!”
With that said, you open the door, and are shocked to see a cute boy around your age, smiling softly down at you with his hands in his pockets. “Hey, I-I’m Peter. I live in the apartment next door.”
You smile bashfully up at him, internally wishing he didn’t see you in this state. “I’m (y/n).”
He smiles crookedly, and your heart melts a little. “So, you’re the Reynolds’ babysitter this week?” You nod. “That’s a crazy thing to take on. Do you mind if I come in?”
Shaking away your mindlessness, you open the door wider and allow him to enter. “Watch out for the shoes,” you warn.
Peter looks around the home, and a blush dusts your cheeks at the state of the apartment. “You know,” he says, “this is the best I’ve seen this apartment when sitters come.”
You scoff. “Seriously?”
He nods. “Daniel!”
“Peter!” You hear the little boy squeal before he comes flying around the corner in his pajamas (that you barely managed to get on him) and hugs Peter around the tops of his legs.
Peter laughs, and your mouth drops open in shock. “Hey, kiddo. Having fun?” Dan turns around and gives you his mischievous grin again and nods. You resist the urge to scowl down at him. “Good!” Peter exclaims. “But it’s time for you to go to bed, but first you have to put your shoes away like (y/n) said.”
Dan crosses his arms and fixes Peter with a glare. “But what if I don’t wanna?”
“I’ll just tell your mom on you.”
Dan’s eyes widen with shock and fear and he rushes away, beginning to pick up his shoes and put them on the rack by the door. You look up at Peter in shock. “How–”
“If there’s one thing you need to know about Dan, it’s that he’s terrified of his mother.” Peter laughs. “Kinda weird, actually, because his mom is the sweetest and,” he leans over and whispers, “spoils him rotten, if you can’t already tell.”
You laugh, and watch as Dan trudges toward his bedroom, mumbling a half-hearted “good night.” Peter and you say it back, and you finally get a good look at the apartment. “This is going to take forever to clean up,” you realize.
Peter glances over at you, and now, it’s his turn to blush. Your (h/l), (h/c) hair is thrown up in a messy ponytail with strands falling out, but he couldn’t care less. And your eyes are beautiful. He gulps and looks away before you notice him staring. You just might be one of the most beautiful girls he’s ever met.
“You know,” he starts, scratching the back of his neck. “I could stay and help you clean up.”
You look up at him and shake your head. “Oh, no no no, that won’t be necessary, you’ve helped enough already.”
“I don’t mind!” Peter insists, already moving to the kitchen and putting dishes in the sink. “With two of us, it shouldn’t take as long.”
Smiling, you move to the living area and begin to pick up the various toys and put them in a basket that the Reynolds’ keep for Dan. You and Peter make small talk as you work, and he’s right–it does go much faster than it would if it was just you. Sooner than you would have liked, the two of you are done cleaning, and you stand at the door together.
“It was really nice to meet you, Peter,” you say, smiling up at him. “And thank you so much for all of your help.”
“Anytime.” He grins. “The next time you babysit, I’ll be happy to come over again. The Reynolds’ know me, so I’m sure they don’t mind.”
Your heart drops–you weren’t planning on babysitting for Dan ever again–but flutters when you think about seeing Peter again. “Sounds good to me.” You smile.
Peter scratches the back of his neck. “So, um, could I, maybe, have your number? We could go see a movie sometime, or do something else, or…” He trails off, laughing as a blush comes over his cheeks. You’re blushing too.
“Sure,” you whisper, getting your phone out of your pocket. He smiles, and the two of you exchange numbers, before continuing your awkward stalemate by the door. He’s smiling adorably down at you, and you up at him. Neither of you want to leave quite yet.
Gathering your courage, you stand up on your toes and press a quick kiss to his cheek. “Bye, Peter.”
By now, he’s blushing madly. “Bye,” he whispers. You smile once more at him before shutting the door behind you. Leaning against it, you smile to yourself. There’s something about that boy.
Little do you know, he’s skipping back to his apartment, thinking the same thing.
I haven’t done a Marvel imagine before so bare with me.
I hope you enjoy!
REQUESTS ARE OPEN!
You possessed a special ability that let you look into people’s possible futures and pasts. Before meeting the Avengers, you had no control. You’d just touch someone or look into their eyes and see their future or past. You’d feel their pain of a loss or their end. But over the months, you’ve gotten a better grip of your power. Now, all that was needed to activate your powers was a touch.
Except when nightfall came. Your mind would replay all the terrible things you saw. If someone saw their parents getting murdered and you saw that event unfold through their eyes, you would be haunted by the moment at night. You couldn’t control it once your eyes closed and you were sent into a slumber.
But Tony and Bruce came up with special medicines that would help you sleep aimlessly. It made you feel like a mental patient but if a goodnight’s sleep is the benefit, you were willing to pay the price.
Bucky would often have night terrors about his days being held in Hydra. He wandered around the tower to calm his nerves until one night he found your bedroom door wide open. Bruce walked out and gave him a small smile before disappearing into his own room. Curiously, Bucky entered your room and found you calmly asleep on your side, clinging onto what seemed like a bear.
He noticed the bottle of pills that was at your bedside table. He was about to steal some pills, in hopes of helping himself sleep as well, but he found himself entranced by your calmness. He’s seen you walk around the tower in the day time, you were always uptight and careful not to make contact with anyone. To see you calm at night somehow calmed him.
And so every night Bucky needed to be calmed down, he found himself sitting next to your bed and watching you sleep.
One day, everything seemed to be alright. You were all discussing random matters. The team were getting into playful arguments and you had muttered something sarcastic that only Wanda caught. She laughed and hit your knee playfully. You were instantly sucked into the moment her brother, Pietro, died. Wanda had actually felt the bullets penetrate through her brother and you felt Wanda’s emotions flood through you.
Bucky had been watching you carefully. He saw how your eyes widened slightly as they turned a bit glossy and then he nudged Steve and nodded your direction. Steve went up to you and noticed how stiff you became. “Hey, what’s wrong?” You looked into his blue eyes and all you saw was his doomed future.
He was walking up what seemed like a capital building when a single bullet flies through the air and pierces his heart, leaving him for dead.
“I’m fine.” You lied. “Just tired. I’ll go to my room and rest.” Before you left, you turned and told him,. “Stay away from capital buildings, Cap.”
The rest of that afternoon you attempted to calm yourself. Bruce had told you not to say anything about the future because you could cause a ripple in the timeline, but you couldn’t just let Steve die like that.
That night you were restless, Bruce stayed with you until you fell asleep. It was already 1:56 am and Bucky was already on his way to your room. Bruce was leaving her room. “She’s a little restless and upset.” Bruce informed the soldier. “Might be best if you found a different way to calm yourself for tonight.”
“I’ll be as quiet as a mouse.” Bruce dismissed Buck and allowed him to stay in there for a little bit. He was no position to argue, he was completely tired.
Most nights, you were completely still but tonight you were frantically moving around. Your bear had been pushed off the bed and had face planted into the floor. Bucky picked in up and put it by you again. He’d hum a tune of a Russian lullaby in an attempt to calm you.
As the hours passed, you became more still. Bucky was about to get up and leave, feeling calmed himself until you sat up straight and screamed. You looked at Bucky in surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“I watch you sleep sometimes when I have a nightmare.” He confessed. “What’s wrong?”
“Nightmares.” You deadpanned and reached for another pill until the Winter Soldier stopped you. “What the hell, Buck?” You snapped, quickly moving your hand away from his.
“One pill a night. It says it on the label.” Bucky explained. “Wouldn’t want to overdose now would you, doll?”
“I need to sleep, Buck.” You sighed, putting your head in your hands and then you grabbed your bear.
“Why do you sleep with a bear? Aren’t you too old?” He joked, cracking a smile.
“Funny, coming from you.” You laughed.
“Scoot over.” Bucky said. You shook your head frantically.
“I don’t want to-I’ll see.. Buck, no!” You panicked and then he held out his wrists to you. You gave him a weird look. “What?”
“I used to have nightmares about jumping out of planes.” He explained. “Then I did it. Now I’m not afraid. I’ve noticed how you refuse to touch people. I get it. You’re afraid so you have nightmares about your visions. But sometimes, you have to face your fears.”
You gave him an unsure look before grabbing onto his wrists. You were prepared for the war and the Hydra brainwashing sessions but you were unprepared to see a wedding. It was pure and white and gorgeous. Bucky was watching as his soon-to-be wife walked down the aisle and you smiled slightly when you saw that you were the woman in white.
You let go of his arms and smiled at him which he returned. You scooted over and the two of you talked all night long.
The next morning, Bruce would come and wake you up. When he opened your door and saw you snuggled up next to Bucky, he couldn’t help but smile and get the other avengers.
After that night, you and Bucky would share a bed and just talk then wake up next to each other. Soon, you finally embraced your abilities. You knew that you couldn’t have done it without him. You looked at him while he slept, you were slowly drifting away too.
“It all started with those damn Nightmares.”
Request: The one where the reader is an avenger yet never talks. The reader develops a crush on Bucky. One day some agent makes an insulting remark about Bucky and she tells the agent to screw off.
Warning/s: None.
Author’s note: An alternate universe where Civil War never happened (I don’t like seeing my babies fight and get hurt T^T) and everyone is getting along.
Bucky knew what he did was wrong. He did. Steve had constantly reminded him and everyone that it was HYDRA’s fault and not his, and he believed in him. But some people are not convinced. Especially some agents in the Avengers tower.
He was in the briefing room reading a file about the upcoming mission that Fury had assigned him and Steve. The captain left him in the room because he has to go somewhere important. He hid himself behind one of the shelves there when two male agents had entered the room.
“I don’t know why Captain America had brought the Winter Soldier here."
"Yeah. Does he think that we are all supposed to be fine with having a criminal in the same building as we are?"
"For gosh sake, that man is a walking killing machine. He could kill everyone here in this goddamn tower single-handedly."
Normally, when Bucky hears stuff like this, he would just ignore them and be on his way. But sometimes, it gets all a little bit too much. He felt anger seep through his veins as he clenched and unclenched his fist, trying his hardest to calm himself down as he continued listening to the insulting remarks about him that the two agents are exchanging.
Some time during the conversation, Bucky couldn’t take it anymore. He dropped the file on the ground and made his way towards the two agents.
"Hey!” Someone yelled from the door. Bucky stopped his tracks and watched as a figure enter the room. He squinted his eyes to see who it was. When he recognized the person, all the anger he felt melted away in an instant and was replaced by surprise and confusion.
It was (Y/N). Everyone in the world knows her as an avenger. As for the Avengers, they knew her as their friend. Bucky watched as she placed her hands on her hips and glared at the two agents. “First of all, how dare you insult Bucky Barnes. You two have no right to judge him by the way the media portrays him to be. You don’t even know what he had gone through. If you have nothing nice to say, then keep your damn mouths shut.” she scolded, gritting her teeth.
Bucky was surprised. Everyone knows how quiet she is and how she rarely talks, except when it comes to mission and some other stuff. Tony even gave her the nickname “Quiet Mouse” because it fits her perfectly. She’s quiet and a bit short. This didn’t bother her, though. Both her and Bucky had talked before but it was mostly when he or she needed a favor. During some time in the tower, he developed a strong attraction towards her. Something about her was intriguing. He would look at her from a distance and watch how her expression changes when she reads a book, how her eyes hold that hint of amusement when Thor, Tony, and Steve talk about the things which are worthy of lifting Mjölnir, how she observed everyone in the room like the wallflower she is yet always misses his gaze.
The two agents glanced at each other before the other one stepped forward. “So what if we insult Barnes? Is he your boyfriend?” the guy taunted.
“No.” (Y/N)’s glare hardened. “But he’s my friend. And friends have each other’s backs no matter the cost."
The agents chuckled and shook their heads. "Sweetheart, just go back to your books and stuff.” the other guy said.
“If I hear you two insult Bucky again, you better run.” She threatened.
The agents smirked and one stepped closer, wearing a smug look. “Or else what? What will you do?” he stepped closer and leaned forward in a taunting manner. “You will break my bones with your little arms?"
The other agent chuckled at what his pal had said. (Y/N) only smirked before punching him square in the face, making him stumble backward. "I’ll break your face first. Then your bones.” she told him.
Bucky watched the scene with amusement in his eyes. Who knew the quiet mouse can pack a punch. (Y/N) didn’t notice him since he was hiding behind the shelves.
The guy whom she punched stood up and grunted in pain, clutching his now bleeding and broken nose. He glared at her. “You bitch! You’re gonna pay for that!” he said and charged towards her. (Y/N) prepared herself for the impact. She was about to dodge the attack when someone had rushed in front of her and heard metal clash against flesh.
(Y/N) looked up and saw Bucky standing in front of her. Her eyes grew wide. What’s he doing here? she thought to herself.
The agents stared at him looking terrified, especially the one who had swung at her. Bucky glared at them. “Did anyone ever tell you to never try and hit a lady?” he said, his voice sounding deep and sounding annoyed.
“I - I - I - she….“ Bucky gripped the guy’s fist tighter, making the guy yelp in pain. "Do that again and I’ll make sure that you won’t see another day. Both of you.” he said.
The agents nodded in fear and Bucky released his grip on the fist. The two agents hurriedly left the room, for fear that Bucky would break them to pieces. (Y/N) stared at the door where the two agents exited.
Bucky turned around and faced her. He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Hey, are you okay?” he asked.
(Y/N) jumped at the contact and looked up at him with wide eyes. Immediately she felt her cheeks flush in pink and cleared her throat. “Y-yeah, I’m okay. Where did you come from?” she asked looking around.
Bucky rubbed the nape of his neck. “Well, I was already in here when you entered.” he said.
She nodded her head. When she realized this, her eyes grew wide and looked up at him with shock. “Wait, what? Y-you were already here? So that means….” she trailed off before closing her eyes and hid her face on her hands.
Bucky smiled down at her when he saw her cheeks turning pink. Cute, he thought to himself. He nodded, as if she could see him. “Yes, I, uh, heard everything.” he said.
“Oh god….” (Y/N) muttered, groaning in embarrassment.
Bucky chuckled and placed his hands on her arms. “Hey, don’t be embarrassed.” he said. “It’s nice to know that someone still sees the good in me, aside from Steve."
(Y/N) sighed and slowly looked up at him. She chewed on her lip, cheeks still blushing. Bucky looked down at her and gave her a smile — a genuine one. "Thank you for defending me, (Y/N). I appreciate it.” he told her, softly.
(Y/N) returned the smile that he gave her. “You’re welcome, Bucky.” she said.
Bucky smiled and leaned forward, dropping a kiss on top of her head. (Y/N) froze at this as he smirked at her reaction. He stepped back. “I’ll drop by your room at 7. Wear something nice.” he said and walked towards the door.
(Y/N) raised an eyebrow, looking back at him with confusion. “‘Wear something nice’? Why, what’s the occasion?” she asked.
Bucky stopped by the door and turned back to her. “We have a date.” he smirked, winking at her before leaving her in the room.
Both of them could barely contain the smile that was growing on their faces all day.

Some things is said and they start covering each others ears convinced ___ is too innocent so they end up covering Steves ears.” Authors Note: I love cards against humanity it’s so much fun.
Masterlist.
“I just bought Cards Against Humanity!” Tony announced as he walked into the common room.
“What’s that?” Steve asked. You burst out laughing, knowing full well what the game was.
“It’s like, a card game, where a black card is placed down and you have white cards to complete the blank.” You told him.
“It says adult card game.” Natasha read off from the box. “Maybe (Y/N) shouldn’t play, they’re a bit innocent.”
“Hey, Steve thought fondue meant-”
“We don’t need to talk about that.” Steve covered your mouth, as you tried to escape from his grasp.
“I think we’ve all heard the story before.” Bucky said.
“Who wants to play?” Tony yelled, getting everyone’s attention.
Everyone around joined in. You, Steve, Bucky, Clint, Natasha, Tony, and Vision all sat in a circle. You all started to play the game, and it quickly got the adult aspect, and quick. Sometimes, Vision would not understand and everyone would try to explain, but just ended up laughing in the end.
“My turn to judge!” You said. “Play your worst.”
“Think of their innocent mind.” Steve reminded.
“Alright- this is a good one! Blank is a slippery slope that leads to blank.” You giggled.

It was a very rare occasion to have Clint’s whole family come to the tower. When they did venture out of their farm, the whole team made sure to accommodate them accordingly.
Which was why you and the other Avengers were strung up in a game of hide and seek. Cooper and Lila, his older kids, were more interested in picking up Mjolnir or sledding down the stairs in Steve’s shield, but Nathaniel was only a few years old and because no one wanted him to throw a tantrum, they agreed to do whatever he wanted.
Bucky was lucky enough to escape the game, excusing himself to a shower before Clint so much as stepped into the building. You tried to get away too, desperately craving a good nap before Fury sent you on another mission, but decided too late. The second you were about to slip out the door, the oldest Barton spawn ran straight for your legs and hopped on, clinging to your hips for dear life.
“Auntie Y/N! You’re gonna play with us, right? You gotta!” Cooper pressed his face into your side and you laughed, ruffling his hair and backing away from the door slightly. You may have been an Avenger, but having a 70 pound tumour on your leg would throw anyone off balance if they moved too much.
“How could I say no to that face? What’s the plan Mini Cooper?” You gently pried him off your leg and recovered with just enough time to catch Lila as she threw herself at you. Her hug knocked the wind right out of you and you gave Clint a look that said this one’s an Avenger for sure.
“Nate wants to play Hide and Seek.” Lila grumbled and you put on your game face.
“You two ready to make this fun?” Your grin alone was enough to convince them of your plan. They nodded frantically and you pulled them into a huddle to hatch your play.
“Lila, you’re gonna stick with Pietro. That’s the lost silver puppy over there, see him?” You pointed imperceptibly to Pietro, standing awkward in the corner while his sister spoke to Laura. Lila nodded. “He can’t be caught, so just hop on up for a piggyback and you’re sure to win.”
“Coop, you go with Steve.” Cooper looked over at the soldier and groaned, eliciting a grin from you. “I know he’s gonna be hard to hide with all that beef, but if you do get caught, he’ll sacrifice himself for you to run free.”
“Auntie Y/N, who are you teaming up with?” You spared them a mischievous smirk before standing up and dusting yourself off.
“A little thing you should know about me kids, I play to win.” To which they shrugged and ran over to their assigned partners. Pietro looked a little alarmed at the little girl trying to climb onto his back but Steve picked Cooper up and placed him on his shoulders like a champ.
Clint faced the wall and started counting down from 50. Initially, Tony had decided it was his duty to be the first Seeker, but Vision informed everyone that he would just use F.R.I.D.A.Y. to figure out where they all hid. Clint would be hard to fool, but it was better than flat out cheating.
You had gone on too many missions to think staying still was in your best interest, so whenever you heard Clint’s passing footsteps you made sure to slink away from your current spot to find another. This was the perfect plan, until Nathaniel was caught and decided he would be Assistant Seeker.
You had thought, wrongfully, that none of the Barton gang would betray you, but apparently he was too young to get the memo. Once he had hunted you down, he trailed behind you like a cute, chubby-cheeked hounddog. And once you were cornered in the first unlocked bedroom you could find, Nathaniel ignored your mouthing traitor and started to shout.
“Daddy!” And he continued to blabber on with the sort of rounded drawl only a four year old could have despite your flailing arms and wide eyes.
You really couldn’t have picked a worse room to get caught in, there were next to no hiding spaces aside from under the bed, and there was no way you could fit inside the vent. The only option you had was to run to the attached bathroom and pray the door wasn’t locked. So you did.
And by some miracle it was unlocked. And by another miracle Bucky was in there, wearing nothing but a white towel that wrapped snugly (and lowly, very very lowly) around his hips.
You were still trying to slow your racing heart from just barely closing the door in time to avoid Clint, but now you had a whole new reason for the rapid beat.
Because Bucky, well he looked ripped with all of his combat gear on. Now all he was wearing was steam and the little trickles of water his hair allowed to fall over his skin, and he looked hunkier than ever. It was a good thing you were leaning against the door, too, because there was no way you could stand up all on your own.
“Oh.” You knew you should apologize or toss out your usual witty remark but c'mon, how could anyone be witty when Bucky’s abs were on full display?
“Hi to you too sweetcheeks. Enjoying the view?” He had only sent you a curious gaze before going back to brushing his teeth.
The real question was how could you say yes without making it sound like yes?
“Nope.” Not like that. Bucky spit out his toothpaste and put his toothbrush back before walking over to the door you were guarding.
“Really? ‘Cause your jaw on the floor says something else.” You were sure it did.
“Do you expect me to believe if you’d been the one walking in on me after a shower, you wouldn’t be a little bothered?” There it was, that nervous confidence Bucky brewed in you. He was not helping, however, when he continued to walk towards you. At this point his hand was against the wooden door to your left and he kept getting closer and closer.
Too close for your heartbeat to be kept a secret, surely.
“Are you bothered Y/N?” It was a breath, an airy growl. He was teasing you in the way a cloud teased rain and it wasn’t fair at all.
“Why don’t you tell me.” Your voice was just as low, and you watched Bucky’s ocean hues glide down to your lips for a moment. You were pressed so far into the door you thought you’d leave a dent, and your skin was burning enough to set fire to the wooden support. Bucky’s minty breath was the only oxygen you could get and the few inches between you was getting smaller and smaller.
And then the door opened and you very literally crashed to the floor, bombarded with cold air and Clint’s laugh and Bucky’s quickly recovered serious face. Like you weren’t a millisecond away from kissing, like there wasn’t anything more than careless flirting beneath your careless flirting.
“At least tell me I’m the last one.” You dropped your head onto the wooden floor and covered your face, trying to rub away the blush you were definitely sporting. Nathaniel hopped up on your stomach and giggled enthusiastically at your downfall.
“Can’t reach Pietro and Lila.” Clint’s grin refused to falter as he took in the scandalous picture Bucky’s nearly naked stature painted. “Sorry for interrupting. Let’s go Nate, there’s too much tension in this room for it to be PG.” Nathaniel crawled off your stomach and trampled after his dad.
So much for that fantasy.
—
“Nat I swear to god if you accuse me of dating Bucky one more time I will tie you to a boulder and drop you into the ocean.” Your redheaded friend was looking gorgeous as ever behind the bar she usually tended during these parties, but it didn’t matter how nice she looked, she was still getting on your nerves.
Not that you didn’t enjoy the prospect of dating Bucky, he was a very dateable guy. And the thought of having him all to yourself was enough to fuel your daydreams for months, but there was no point in getting your hopes up for something that would never happen. Sure, you almost kissed, but that was in the heat of the moment. The second Clint had walked away it was like Bucky had never been that close in the first place.
“Prove it then. I don’t believe in anything I can’t see with my own eyes.” You were disgruntled enough to do it, though you had no idea what you were going to do until you stomped through the finely-dressed crowd and stepped right up to Bucky.
He looked great too, straight out of an expensive painting or some sort of F Scott Fitzgerald novel with his hair slicked back and a polite smile settled on his lips. You gave him just enough time to recognize you before taking a fist full of his lapels and dragging him down to meet your lips.
The plan had been to kiss him a little, pull away, and stride your way back to Nat. You weren’t quite sure how that was gonna stop her from calling out your feelings, but no one said you were great at making plans.
Regardless, that’s not how it went down. Your lips met and it was like jumping into a lake on the hottest day of the year. Bucky didn’t even bother to resist, he only twisted his body so he could face you, tangled a hand in your cascading hair, and kissed you like you were sure he’d never kissed anyone before.
“What took you so long?” He panted breathlessly when you separated, his palm pulling your jaw carefully closer and his forehead resting against yours. Everyone was staring but it didn’t feel all that important right then - Bucky’s endless blue eyes made sure of that.
“Me? Excuse you Mr. Old Fashioned, I thought the guy was supposed to make the first move.” Your tone was much steadier than your pulse seemed to merit, especially with the smirk Bucky was awarding you.
“What do you think I was doing in that bathroom before we were interrupted?” His tone was dangerous at this distance, and you loved it.
“I think if you wanted it enough you’d have kissed me regardless of the door’s position.” You could play at that game too, you could smile just as wicked and make his blood boil just as hot.
“My bad. Mind if I make it up to you now?” Bucky’s arm wound around your waist and pulled you closer, ignoring the wolf whistles and the get some’s from his friends. When you shook your head he dipped back down and consumed you again, this time savouring every detail of your lips.
Okay so maybe Nat was right, but that wasn’t gonna stop you from throwing her overboard if she kept teasing you.

“No.”
“(Y/N), you didn’t even give me a chance to ask my question!” the man trailed behind you, flailing his arms behind you exasperatedly. You knew exactly what he wanted to ask and there was no way in hell you’d sit down and agree with him. “Just give me a chance, (Y/N)?”
“No.”
“But-”
“Steve, I swear to God,” you hissed, walking past him to avoid his gaze as you struggled to continue what you were doing before your friend stepped into the room. Pacing from left to right, you could barely even remember what you were doing as your mind was clouded with stress and guilt when Steve threw you the look you tried so hard to avoid receiving. “Steve…” your voice trailed off, squinting your eyes threateningly at him. Your efforts barely did anything as his eyes screamed disappointment at you. A loud, obvious sigh escaped your lips as you threw your arms up in the air. “Fine. Ask me.”
