Request: Can you do an imagine where reader is Loki’s daughter and in love with Steve? When Loki finds out him and Thor reunite to bring Steve in the most ridiculous situations.
A/N: This day I’m super productive and ready to finish all my requests😉 I hope you enjoy and feedback is appreciated ❤
You were madly in love with Steve Rogers. That was supposed to be a good and heart warming feeling for most people. Well, you couldn’t say that it wasn’t for you, it really was. But your father was Loki Laufeyson.
Steve and you had to be really, really careful. Your dad was the god of mischief, he sure did something to trick you and learn if he did something to hurt you or the couple of you did something he didn’t like. But you were always there to tell him for once again with Steve that he’ll never hurt you.
Actually he didn’t know that you were dating. He was really suspicious of the Captain. At first he thought that you both were best friends. Anyway friends, partners or anything if anyone hurt Loki’s daughter, then disaster is going to happen.
Until one day.
The Avengers Tower was full of life that night. That’s because of Tony’s new party. Tony one of your best friends used to plan parties after each victory of the Avengers’ missions.
You took off your suit and let it fall off your shoulders slowluly as you did your makeup at the same time. This took you approximately ten minutes. Lets add five more minutes for finding a dress for the occasion. You were really tired from your mission but you had to go to the party.
You opened the door only to reveal a really good looking Steve. You grinned and his hands wrapped around your waist.
“You look beautiful baby girl.” He cooed against your ear, breath tickling your skin.
“You don’t look that bad yourself, Captain. You are handsome.” He snorted and kissed your nose. “You are such a dork.”
“Mm only for you" You stuck out your tongue at him and interwined your fingers with his. “Your dad is here too. When are we going to tell him?”
“I don’t know, Stevie.. I know we have to any time soon, but not now. We can try another time. He nodded and you opened the doors for the party. You walked in and nodded over your dad.
“You look gorgeous, daughter.” He said and spun you around. You laughed and sat next to him. “So what are your plans for tonight?” You pouted your lips and looked around. You lied your eyes on Steve for a second or more but then met your dad’s gaze again.
“I don’t know..Maybe meet a guy, dance.. Drink.. You know, usual stuff.“ He quirked an eyebrow. “Just kidding! I’m just gonna drink. Maybe…” You mumbled and winked at Steve. Oh how much you loved messing with the guy..
“Uh okay. I’m going to join Thor. Have fun sweetheart” You smiled and when Steve realized Loki was far enough, he moved closer to you and grabbed your hands.
“So you like it don’t you?” You furrowed your eyebrows.
“Like what?”
“The image of Loki cutting me into a million pieces.” You laughed.
“We are dating for five months. You should know by now that I am a trickster. I got it from dad.” He chuckled and rolled his eyes. A slow song started playing but neither of you wanted to dance. But Steve leaned in and pressed his lips against yours. It was so good that nobody realized the angry figure of your dad turning around and heading towards Thor.
“Brother, I might need your help.” Loki never called Thor brother. He knew something was happening. “Did you know Steve and my beloved daughter were dating?” Thor, who had a mouthful of fries shrugged his shoulders. “I have a great idea and you are helping me.”
✴✴✴
“Captain of America good to see you here.” Thor said at his friend. Loki was right behind Steve and you were somewhere in the crowd chatting with Natasha, Wanda and Peter.
“Good to see you too.Enjoying the party Thor?” Steve asked while taking a sip from his beer. Little did he know that a magic spell was casted into the drink.
“Yeah, it’s pretty good but unfortunately, I forgot to bring a good amount of Asgardian Liquor..” Steve formed an oh. He soon started feeling weird.
You walked towards the two men. “Are you having fun uncle Thor?” Thor nodded at you and messed with your hair, a habit he had since you were little. You immideately fixed them and waited for his response.
“Sure I am.” Steve was getting, smaller?
“Steve are you good?” Your eyes widened when he was becoming skinnier. “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?” Obviously noone could hear you with the extra loud music on. Your boyfriend was just turning into his preserum self.
“What?” Steve asked as he drunk more of his beer. He was getting even smaller. He would soon turn into a little kid.
“STEVE YOU ARE TURNING INTO A KID!” You noticed that Thor was trying his best not to burst out in laughter. Steve was panicking. “Thor what did you do?” You questioned calmly. You knew he wouldnt tell you. You just grinned and moved your fingers creating your blue magic. “Do you know anything about what happened to Steve?”
“Your father found out that you are dating and he know wants to prank.” You groaned and grabbed Steve’s little hand.
“Dad can you fix my boyfriend?!” You shouted angrily at him.
“Woah Steve what happened to you?! What boyfriend?” He tried to play dumb but you weren’t in the mood for that.
“Dad, I know what you did, now fix him.” Loki looked down at the floor and shook his head.
“Fine, but as I do, will you please explain your father why you didn’t tell him about your lover?” Your lips formed in a thin line. You closed your eyes as you tried to find the words.
“I..uh.. I guess I was scared to tell you..” He stopped casting his magic for a second.
“What?”
“I was scared that maybe you would try to make me or Steve break up with each other. I love Steve and I don’t want to lose him.” Steve was now his adult self. He gazed around and pushed his hair away from his face.
“I understand. I loved too but I lost. I don’t want the same thing to happen to you too. Steve here is a good guy. You have my wish.” Your eyes widened and you chuckled hugging your dad. “Easy princess” He laughed and motioned Steve to come to the hug too. Steve hesitated at first but then felt comfortable enough to join. “Oh and something else”
“Don’t do the ‘if you hurt her im gonna kill you’… It’s classic.”
“I was just going to say that if you need to prank him, take a video so I can feel even more proud of you.” You laughed and ordered drinks with the two most important people in your life.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word count: 687 words
Warnings: Absolutely none. This is all fluff and cuteness.
Request: Bucky sees the reader one day and follows the reader but keeps his distance and is to nervous to approach the reader but you notice and introduce yourself. Anonymous _______________________________________________________________________
You can feel his eyes like daggers in your back, but you don’t think he means harm. He’s been watching you clear tables all afternoon and you’ve dropped things several times throughout the day, because his stare makes you nervous. Every time you look his way he quickly looks at something else, but you’re confident that he is indeed looking at you.
“How can I help?” you ask another customer but your mind is somewhere else; what would happen if you introduced yourself? You take down the order while you ponder the question. The worst thing that could happen is that he denies everything and you scare him off.
“Mary, can I leave a bit earlier today?” you ask your boss wanting to talk to the man before he disappears.
“I don’t see why not. You take the finished orders out and you’re free to go,” Mary smiles. You thank her and hurry out with the last dishes before heading out back to change into your regular clothes.
“Here goes nothing,” you mumble to yourself before heading outside. But when you get outside you notice that the man is gone. As if he was never there to begin with.
“What the hell?” you ask yourself looking around. He couldn’t have just disappeared. He was there just a minute ago and the streets are too crowded for him to make a quick exit. You sigh as you begin to walk home. It’s a 30-minute walk and after 15 minutes of walking you feel his glare again. You turn around and notice him behind you. It’s starting to creep you out because he seems to want something from you. Why else would he be following you? Deciding to catch him in the act you turn around a corner and wait for him to follow. It doesn’t take long before you’re suddenly face to face with him.
“Hi,” you breathe a little nervous. It’s starting to down upon you what you’re actually doing. He could be a stalker or something worse.
“Hi,” he says a bit wondrous. It’s only now you notice that there’s something different about his arm. Is it silver?
“I’m Y/N,” you say wanting to tread carefully.
“That’s a pretty name,” he says and you wait a moment, but he doesn’t say more. He doesn’t introduce himself and you can’t help but wonder who he is.
“Thank you,” you say blushing a little, “what’s your name?”
“Bucky. I mean that’s just my nickname. I-My name is James Buchanan Barnes,” the tall man replies. You can’t help but laugh a little.
“I like Bucky.” It’s quiet for a while. “Why have you been following me?”
“I just thought you were really beautiful. You are really beautiful,” he says stammering a little. You can’t help but find it adorable how shy he is. With his enormous arms and his tough exterior you’re surprised to learn that he’s practically a teddy bear at heart.
“Thanks. You don’t look too bad yourself,” you reply feeling your cheeks burning. Both of you stand there in awkward silence waiting for the other to say something.
“Well, are you going to ask me out or not?” you ask feeling a little bold. You’ve clearly taken Bucky by surprise with sudden outburst. But he quickly recovers and smiles.
“Can I buy you a cup of coffee?” he asks.
“I don’t drink coffee,” you say deciding to tease him a little. You need to get him back for staring at you all day. He looks like a lost puppy because coffee is apparently the only idea he has.
“I’m just joking. I’d love a cup of coffee,” you say laughing a little. He starts laughing himself as he realises your comment was meant as a tease.
“Come on,” you say grabbing his hand and intertwining your fingers with his. You’re surprised at how bold you’re acting, but Bucky seems to give you confidence. And it doesn’t take you long to find a coffeehouse. Once inside and seated you can finally have a proper conversation with the gorgeous man in front of you.
“Tell me about yourself.”
Steve Rogers x Daughter!Reader
Not Alone
Author: Morgan
Prompt: Could you do one where Steve finds an orphaned little girl somehow and he kinda takes her under his wing please?
Note: Awwwwww. Let’s say reader is about five years old? Maybe a bit younger?
After Sokovia, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Stark Industries set up a program to reunite survivors with their families and find them sustainable housing. Steve Rogers and the rest of the new Avengers helped some days, trying to help families find each other.
It had been months, and yet one little girl hadn’t found her family. And she wouldn’t. They were all gone.
“Sweetie,” Steve knelt down in front of you. You were sitting in a chair under the tent the team was stationed at. It was empty, and the only people left were them and you. “How would you like to come home with us?”
“Okay,” you nodded, sniffles left from all of the crying. You wiped your eyes. Steve smiled, offering you his large hand. You latched onto his finger as he led you to the quinjet. Steve helped you into a car seat and buckled you in. The machine took off.
“Are you Captain America?” you asked. He smiled, gentle blue eyes sparkling.
“I am,” he nodded. “But my friends call me Steve. You can call me Steve too, if you want.”
“Steve, where are we going?”
“To the Avengers Facility,” Steve answered. “Somewhere you’ll be safe, where you won’t have to be alone.”
“Good.” You smiled gently. “I don’t like being alone.”
***
Weeks later, you woke up crying. Nightmares about Sokovia plagued your sleep and you could never seem to sleep without a disturbance.
Steve came to your room soon after, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and clicking on your bedroom light.
“You okay?” he asked. You shook your head, fresh tears forming in your eyes. He jogged over and sat on your bed. “Hey, hey, I’m here. It’s okay, I promise,”
“It was Sokovia all over again,” you sobbed, your tiny body shaking. “I was all alone…”
“You’re not alone. You’ll never be alone.” Steve grabbed a tissue from your nightstand and wiped your tears away.
“S-Steve, please don’t leave,” you begged.
“I won’t,” Steve smiled softly. He bent forward and kissed your forehead. “I’ll sleep on your couch. Right over here.”
“Okay,” you nodded. “Goodnight Steve,”
“Goodnight,”

Part Twenty-Three
“Are you planning to coddle me all night, babe?” Haleigh mused after watching Steve step in front of her as someone tried to walk past them.
“Don’t think of it as me coddling you. I’m coddling the baby.” Steve grinned as he turned to face her.
“Steve, I’m not even showing. Two months. Can you at least wait to act like that until I’m showing?”
He wrapped his arms around her waist, chuckling. “Well I can’t promise that. Let’s compromise and say it’s based on situation?”
“Fine, but people walking past me when they’re already three feet away is a little excessive.” She teased, tapping his nose.
“Alright, alright. I’ll give ya that.” He grinned, kissing her forehead.
“So what’d Pepper say to ya earlier?” She asked curiously.
“Oh, she was letting me know that everything is set up for us upstairs.”
Haleigh cocked a brow. “What do you mean?”
He just gave a cocky smirk. “You’ll see. Let’s give Tony a few more hours to celebrate drunkenly about this.” He rested a hand on her stomach. “Then I have a private celebration planned for just you and me.”
“You know I can’t handle anything too fancy or crazy, right?” She scrunched up her nose.
“I know, doll. Don’t worry. I’ve got it under control.”
——————————–
Steve guided Haleigh up the stairs to the observatory, finally managing to get away from the ever clingy Tony. He held her hand tight, laughing a bit. “Not tired yet, are you?”
“More curious about what’s up your sleeve, Captain.” She mused.
“Well.. I wanted to spend some time as just us. So..” He grinned, opening the door to the observatory.
With Pepper’s help, the two had seen to the area littered with candle light. Jarvis had the windows look like a much more brilliant version of the night sky than New York City could offer. Soft jazz music hummed through the observatory.
Haleigh cocked a curious brow. “Color me impressed. We already had our private celebration remember?” She teased, running her fingers over his chest.
He chuckled softly, grasping her hand as he pulled her into a soft sway in the middle of the room. “I know but I still want every opportunity to get you alone.”
She grinned up at him. “I’ll give you that one.. Should I be expecting a love-filled speech followed by you on one knee with a sappy proposal as well?”
He smirked. “I’d say yes but we both know I’m not entirely great at anything sappy. More of the bashful, beat around the bush kind of guy.”
She giggled softly. “Now that is so true.”
“Hey now, that doesn’t mean I don’t have any tricks up my sleeve.” He mused, twirling her. “Although I will admit that in this case I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.”
“Then we leave it up to timing, eh?” She mused. “This place does look quite neat. I’m loving the stars.”
“They’re programmed to show different scenes of the night sky. Speaking of which.” He smiled as the view changed to the Northern Lights. He watched Haleigh’s face light up just a bit.
“Oh wow that’s so cool.”
“I remember you once told me that your obsession with the night sky could only go so far because our eyes are only able to see so much due to darkness. You said you wished you could see the beauties beyond our mind’s eye could ascertain.” He said gently, turning her so her back rested against his chest.
She nodded, resting her head against his chest. “The very next day you bought me a book with pictures that satellites or telescopes have taken.”
“I did.”
“Oh, and you named a star after me for our anniversary. You said it was your way of giving me a piece of the cosmos I loved so much.”
He chuckled. “You’re right, I did. Tony helped me with that.”
“Tony helps you with a lot.”
“He does but he’s yet to send me astray when it involves you. You and I have been through a lot and we’re clearly bound to go through more. I’ll take whatever advice I can get.” He kissed the top of her head.
Her lips quirked into a slight smile. “Ever the soldier first, eh?”
He nodded a bit, swaying to the music with her. “Yes, I’d say so. Makes me a little awkward in the romance department.”
“Not in my opinion.”
“Oh yeah? Name one time I was romantic without Tony’s help.”
“Remember the night we went camping?”
“Your idea.” He reminded.
“Yes… But we were sitting by the fire under a blanket and roasting marshmallows. What’d you say to me?”
“I said ‘My God, I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful as you. I’m so blessed to have you by my side each and every day.’”
She nodded. “And I told you it was just the light of the fire playing tricks on you..”
“And I stated 'Only a fool would dismiss your beauty and I’m no fool. You’re far too good for me and I thank God everyday for allowing me into your life. You’re absolutely perfect in every way.’”
“Sounds pretty romantic to me.”
“Until it started to rain.”
“That only added to it. Steamy kiss, passionate love making…as far as I know, Tony wasn’t there.”
“Point proven. He was not. That one was all me.” He mused.
Haleigh watched in the small silence as the sky changed once more. “Where’s this from?” She asked curiously.
“According to Thor, this is close to the view they can see from Asgard. You’ve said you wish you could see the sky from their view.”
“It’s gorgeous. No wonder Thor loves it so much up there.” She breathed.
Steve adjusted slightly and kissed her cheek. He was thrilled she was enjoying what he had planned. “Remember when you asked Thor if he’d take you to Asgard, even if it was just long enough to get a peek at this view and the culture?”
“Yeah, he told me it wasn’t permissible and you interjected and said that one day you’d find a way to show me.” She grinned. “Which you have.”
“You told me it was silly to promise you that I would show you every site in the sky you wanted to see.”
“So that’s what you’re up to.”
He chuckled, nodding. “Perhaps.” He stated as the scene changed once more to her favorite planet, Pluto.
She gasped softly, lurching forward to brush her fingers over the window turned screen. “How is this footage even possible? Where’d it come from?”
“A favor Thor pulled for me from the guardian of their portal system.”
“Wait so this is real time right now?” She glanced up at him.
Steve nodded. “Yes. Are you pleased, doll?”
“I.. Yes, of course.” She smiled, voice soft as she traced the visible edges of Pluto’s surface.
He watched her etch every crest and crater into her memory for what seemed like minutes on end. He glanced at the clock and pulled a small box from his pocket while she was so intent on the view in front of her.
“What’s next?”
“Your star.” He smiled as he lowered himself on one knee.
Haleigh watched as the scene changed once more. Upon it was a twinkling star. “This one is mine? It’s so pretty.”
“Keep watching.” He said softly.
Slowly, words etched across the screen like in a Disney movie. She smiled brightly, reading the font.
Haleigh, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?
“Haleigh.” He smiled, watching her spin to face him.
She bit her lip, grinning. “Steve.” She responded.
He popped open the small box to reveal the ring he’d been holding. “I’ve been holding onto this for months waiting for the right time. So much has happened since then.”
“You’re not doing this just because I’m pregnant, are you?”
“If you’re asking if I’m doing this just to "do the right thing,” then no. I’m doing this because I love you with all my heart. Because you’re my entire world and you deserve more than I can ever give you. And I’m doing this because I want to have a family, a future with you. Will you marry me, Haleigh?“
She nodded, barely able to squeak out "yes.”
Steve slipped the ring onto her finger, fitting perfectly. He pulled himself to his feet while simultaneously pulling her into his arms.
She laughed as he spun her around. “Not too much, you’ll make me sick.” She teased as he gently set her on her feet.
He peppered her with kisses, laughing excitedly. “I love you so much, Haleigh. And baby, of course.”
“And we love you just as much, Steve. Here’s to our 'ever after.’”

He doesn’t know what he expected, but when Bucky woke up you weren’t in the fort beside him. And sure, he definitely hoped you would be (so he could squeeze a few extra minutes of you in his arms before he had to go on pretending like every sideways glance didn’t send his chest throbbing) but maybe it was better this way.
It was definitely better this way.
Bucky found you sitting on the kitchen counter, sifting through the folder he recognized from the day before.
“What’s that?” He nodded to the papers in your hands.
“Morning to you too.” You grumbled jokingly, to which Bucky rolled his eyes and walked over to the fridge to find some breakfast.
“It’s - well it’s gonna sound really weird if I tell you.” You closed the file and put it on the counter beside you, swinging your legs around to face Bucky.
“You’re not reading up on my 30’s days to try and see what type of girls I like, are you? ‘Cause I can promise you fit that profile just fine.” Again with the flirting; Bucky wanted to shudder.
“Definitely not.” You laughed, which, in hindsight, was worth his awful attempt at a pickup line.
“So then what? It can’t be that bad.” You shrugged, waiting for him to come out from behind the open fridge door. He pulled out a jar of marmalade and yanked a loaf of bread out from a cupboard smoothly, almost like a dance. It was nice seeing Bucky move like he was sure of himself, the only other time it happened was when he fought.
“Okay, fine.” You huffed, turning your eyes to the hem of your shirt and playing with it. “So you obviously know about my powers, the whole electromagnetic wave thing?” Bucky made a noise to say he did.
“Well I found out about it because of a fight with my family. One second I was furious and the next no one in the room remembered who I was.” You rubbed your arm awkwardly, a little too worried to glance up at Bucky.
“That’s when Fury found me, and I thought it would just be easier to let them live without me. But I don’t want to live without them, so I have Maria keep track of them from time to time. This is just the newest report.” You tapped on the thick beige paper and chanced a look at your roommate.
Bucky was frowning, not in an ‘I feel bad that you’re so weird’ way but in an 'I know exactly how that feels’ way. He knew what it was like to wake up one day and not have anyone to go to. He also knew what it was like having your memories erased, and he wished he could do something to help your family recover them.
“I’m sorry,” He placed his flesh hand on your thigh and rubbed comfortingly, thoughtlessly. “how are they doing?”
You gave him a small smile and flicked open the cover, sharing pictures and cliff notes on their lives with him. Bucky should’ve been looking at the file, he kept telling himself to just take your eyes off her, you can’t pull her into a hug. And he really wanted to hold you close and make sure you really were okay, because he’s seen sad eyes like those before and he hated when you were sad. If he could do anything to make you feel better - hug you, braid your hair, cook for you, force your family to remember you, hell he’d go back in time and stop it from happening if you’d asked him to - he’d do it all without hesitation.
“My sister’s pregnant!” You smiled wide but Bucky could see the tears building up. He thought that’s what he would be doing too, if he had news of his sisters back with Hydra. He squeezed your knee and smiled back; he couldn’t do much, but sometimes you said happiness was contagious, so maybe he could make you feel better with this.
“Congratulations.” He stopped his hand from reaching up to cup your cheek, swallowing the action down like Asgardian ale.
—-
“Tony you moron, I told you to go right!” You could hear Tony snicker into the comm, if he weren’t 400 feet above ground you’d be ready to punch him.
“You know, you’re really good at this directions thing Y/N, wanna voice my GPS too?” You nearly growled as you watched the monitor in front of you, seeing the little blip that was Tony turning around and making a right.
“A little help might be nice, if you two’re done bickering.” Nat called in, probably busy kicking more ass than Tony had all week.
“He’s on his way. Buck you’ve got incoming, the door to your 6.” You announced, following the small bundle of dots as they moved in on Bucky.
You worked the comms more often than not, only because your power wasn’t a pick and choose type thing. If you used your powers around your team mates they’d be out just as fast as the bad guys, so you either worked by yourself or took charge of behind the scene orders like you were now.
“Got 'em. Where to next?” He asked with a grunt.
“Northeast. There’s a room connected to the one you’re in now.” You watched him walk towards the sectioned off area on your blueprint.
“There’s no door, you sure this is it?”
“Yep, get in there soldier.” Someone on the line was snickering again. Tony.
There was a huge smash - Bucky’s fist through the wall - and he was in.
“What’s in there?” You asked, watching Bucky’s dot on the screen ping in the same place for a solid minute.
“Bucky?” No one made a sound. You couldn’t even hear him breathe, it was like someone hit pause.
Because he couldn’t move, couldn’t make a sound. His heart was hammering and pictures of everything were flashing like cameras on the red carpet.
“желание” It started, heavy boots echoing in his memories.
“ржаветь” He could taste the blood in his mouth, seeping from his tongue just after being wiped again.
“семнадцать” He flexed his fingers, made a tight fist, flexed again. The cryo made it hard to move, the cold breeze in the room wasn’t helping.
“рассвет” His breath was shaky, a product of his reluctance to lose control.
And then it was your voice, saying his name. Bucky, not Soldat, not Winter Soldier, and suddenly it was easier to shake off the flashbacks.
One blink and his superior was gone. Two and the straps hugging his wrists disappeared. On the third he was back in the Hydra Base with Nat, Tony, and most importantly, you.
“Ready to comply.” He growled lowly, tearing the red journal that started his trip down memory lane off of its pedestal and stuffing it into his pocket.
“Barnes what’s your status?” You were clearly on edge, worried that something happened to him and whatever it was hadn’t registered on your screen.
“We’re good to go.” His voice was strained, gruff, but he was trying to make it sound casual. Trying to pretend like he wasn’t a loaded gun ready to go off at the sound of a couple words. Trying not to think that whoever got a hold of the scarlett book in his pocket would also have a hold on him.
“What happened back there?” Nat met him in an empty hall on their way out of the building, having been sent by you to figure out what went wrong.
“Nothing, I took down the wall and grabbed the book.” Bucky shrugged, walking a little faster to try and avoid the conversation.
“It took you five minutes to break down some drywall?” She asked, not falling for the lie for a second.
“No, but my comm shorted and I didn’t wanna do anything stupid like wander around without eyes on the place.”
Natasha sighed, sure that he wasn’t telling her everything but knowing he wouldn’t speak to her unless he really wanted to. Bucky was more stubborn than a mule, surprisingly, he was more stubborn than she was.
Bucky kept his mouth shut for the remainder of the trip.
—-
It was late. Dark enough outside to need a flashlight if you wanted to stray from the streets. Bucky was almost 100 percent sure you were asleep, and he was more than 100 percent sure that he should be too, but he couldn’t.
Every time he closed his eyes all he saw was red; the leather of the notebook, the sticky liquid that used to drown his hands, the colour that clouded his vision when they handed him a rifle and told him the name of another target, another victim.
He guessed it really wasn’t much of a surprise that you were awake, because his pacing in the living room did seem a little louder than he would’ve cared to be under other circumstances. He didn’t even notice your head peaking out of the bedroom door until his name left your lips - soft and sweet and totally undeserving of that caring tone.
He stopped in his tracks, flicking his eyes to yours for a second before averting them right back to the couch. His jaw was clenched, but he forced out a smile.
“You’re up real early.” He joked, strained. You frowned and tiptoed out of the room, eyes watching him so softly he would’ve thought you were admiring a sleeping puppy. Your hand ran over his arm, rubbing some of his anxiety out with your touch.
“What’s going on Buck?” He swallowed, taking a second to appreciate how his thoughts were dissipating with your presence.
“What do you mean?” He was hardwired to avoid answering questions, he really couldn’t help it.
“You know what I mean.” You sighed, but looked up at him patiently all the same. “What happened today?”
Bucky clenched his jaw again, he didn’t want to think about the words or the book or the assholes who made him do all those things. He didn’t want to remember.
“All it takes is ten words for me to lose control. Ten little words and someone’s life is over. Ten words and I have another memory that I don’t want to live with.” You were tangling your fingers with his now, lightly pulling him to the kitchen behind you. You sat him down on the counter, your favourite seat, and pushed some of his hair behind his ear softly.
“We have the book now Buck, no one’s gonna use those words on you again.” You reassured, fingers lingering against his skin for added comfort.
“We don’t know that. SHIELD was compromised before, they might even do it themselves if there’s an enemy you can’t beat. I can’t trust anyone with those words Y/N, I don’t want anyone else to get hurt because of me.” He looked so broken, so worried and you couldn’t take it. Your hand cupped his cheek and pulled his forehead down so it leaned against yours. The intimacy seemed to help prove the dedication in your next sentence.
“I won’t let that happen. I promise Bucky, no one’ll ever use those words against you ever again.”
It was quiet for a while. Bucky couldn’t tell how long you stayed like that, eyes glinting with your stern promise and your nose just about touching his. All he knew was that when you pulled away he believed you.
“Now, how about some hot chocolate?” You twisted and pulled out a pot from under the stove. Bucky watched you with the hint of a smile, think about how much he lucked out with you. And God he loved you, more than he thought he’d ever love anything.
“Thank you.” It felt like he was thanking you for more than the hot mug you’d just placed in his hands. You smiled as warmly as the steaming milk in his cup and ruffled his hair.
“Anytime.”
You could hear his crying as you passed his room. Another nightmare. Both Steve and Tony had told you to keep your distance, that it was best to leave him whenever he had his nightmares.
You hated it.
Bucky raised his voice again, causing you to tense and almost tremble. Inside you were having a constant battle, deciding whether to ignore your friends and disregard your safety or to ignore the screams of pain, yet again.
“…No! Stop… Please…” You closed your eyes briefly, ignoring the warnings that had been sent your way so many times. Using your pyrokinesis, you quickly melted the lock, opening the door a crack. Bucky was huddled on the bed, as he shook back and forth. He was audibly crying out, still locked in the dream. His shirtless body was covered in sweat and his breathing was heavy and ragged.
A few seconds passed as you stood frozen in the doorway, undecided about whether to enter the room or not. Slowly you approached him, halting a few feet from his bed. “…Bucky?”
His eyes shot open, the tortured cries lapsing into an unverving silence. The man didn’t move as you sat beside him, trying not to look too sympathetic. “Another one?”
Bucky lifted his head and looked over to you, the answer residing in his eyes. Yes. He leant into you suddenly, shuddering brokenly which was something that made your heart stop. Murmuring assurances, you combed your fingers through his hair pulling him against you.
His arms snaked round your waist as he buried his face in your shirt, trying to hide himself from whatever terrors haunted him. You wondered what dream he had this time, and as you went to examine him you saw him looking back at you. Seeming more broken that ever.
“Why are you here?” His voice hoarse as he broke the silence that had fallen around the room.
“Because you need someone,” You shrugged, leaning back so you could see him better in the dark room. His metal arm was reflecting in the light, and reminded you all too much of the first meeting you had with the Winter Soldier.
He looked away from you. “…You’re not scared of me?”
“Why would I be scared of you?” You glanced linking your fingers with his in a gentle grip.
“Everyone else is,”
“Well everyone else are idiots,” You commented, “You’re not someone to be scared of. I trust you,” He stared, with wide eyes, at you as if he never expected those words to be aimed at him after all that he’d done.
Bucky stared at your interlocked hands, refusing to meet your eyes, “Why do you trust me, of all people?”
“I know the real you,” You smiled gently.
After a few moments you shifted your body, resting your head on his chest, the beat of his heart echoing in the silence. At first you felt him tense, but slowly he unclenched, resting his head back on the bed.
Relaxing into his body, you glanced up at his now peaceful features. His eyes fluttered closed, a hand falling onto your waist and tugging you into him.
The two of you fell asleep quickly, the only noise being your gentle breathing. You wished you could say that the morning was as peaceful, but you were awoken to Tony shouting about how you had melted yet another door in Stark Tower.
