Senku loved you. 

Even though you’re no longer at his side, you were still cemented in his heart. 

You’d wanted more when you were with him. Things he couldn’t give you at the time, that he hadn’t been ready for. Things your new lover seemed more than happy to offer up. He knows that, logically, he should move on. But the idea of trying again with someone who wasn’t you made him feel sick. 

You were the one who’d made him happiest, who taught him things about himself that even he hadn’t known. You’d been his safe space, the person he could be fully open with and never worry you were going to run away from what you saw. You’d pried apart his armor, and exposed the soft parts of himself. 

He didn’t want to have to do it all over again. He didn’t want to learn to know another person the way he’d known you. He didn’t want to lay in bed with someone, wishing it was you. And, perhaps most selfishly, he didn’t want to see you on the street with a child that had your eyes and wasn’t his.

You had every right to move on, to find someone who could give you what you wanted, and he knew that. Of course he knew that. But that didn’t mean he had to like it. It didn’t mean he couldn’t stay up all night hoping you showed up on his doorstep. 

It was the most pathetic he’d ever felt in his life. He hadn’t even felt this helpless while he was trapped in stone. You had done something to him. Broken something in him that would never heal again.

You’d loved him, and he still loved you.
