Hey there!
YUP,
after the embarrassingly LONG time of two months and 19 days after the opening of this silly Tumblr blog and the introduction of Margoās cute character on the Lackafandom scene, I FINALLY finished her character sheet for all of you sweet folk to witness my delusional fantasies of blood-streaked glamour and romance!
Why did this take me so much time? Simple. As usual, I canāt use Ibis Paint X, and draw digitally with my smol fingers on my equally smol and silly phone.
As such an inept as I am, the background of Marjorieās illustration is in fact NOT product of my dubious artistic skills: I downloaded it from a free stock of āaesthetic garden background, wallpapers and illustrationā I found on Trailsandfreedom.com .
No, I swear I am not being paid to advertise them or anything, I merely feel the urge to leave credits with my pesky moral code nagging at my conscience.
Here is the original picture, on which I then dared to add some filters to get the dull coloring I wanted.
Also, here is the original pencil sketch of Margoās, this time proudly produced by myself only:
Sheās supposed to be sporting some fancy Victorian-gothic style dress, hat and parasol to recall of Mordecaiās own elegant fashion sense. I didnāt add any gloves because at the beginning I wanted her to, like, sting herself with the rose to draw blood and symbolise the assassination business and all that jazz.
And, nada, thatās the end of my interminable poem of thought process! I hope this gave some proper insight on Margoās otherwise mysterious character, and it it managed to entice your curiosity about her, feel free to nag me in my asks!

Music is very important to her. She grew up in a musically inclined family, so she was always surrounded by it. However, moving to the city and once separated from her family that kind of faded away. The moment sheās able to swing it, sheāll get herself a record for an old Victrola she bought second hand.

Mobile has made it a little blurry, so hopefully if you click on it itāll become clearer-
The illustration was based off of this Saturday Evening Post by Coles Phillips.
I spent way more time than Iād like to admit simply going through an archive and looking at his art, even after I found the one I would reference.
And I did swap the mirror for a bouquet of flowers that I spent way too long looking into the meanings off and also back the back a record.
Her dress in the illustration is almost a 1:1 of this one from the Met Museum archive, called Robe de Style made by Jeanne Lanvin.
Of course, itās fancier than what Aisling would be able to afford, and I added a few flap layers that you canāt see in the illustration. But Iām a sucker for black clothes and I felt it contrasted nicely against her mostly white fur.
Thereās not much to say about the portrait outfit. You canāt see most of it, but Iāve decided on a simple beige button up, with a green country bow tie, and long pleated navy skirt. You can kind of see it fully in the small photograph at the bottom.
I also, of course, had to add a small UTDM Easter Egg in it as well. Marius and Jack are the two faceless cats within the photograph underneath the illustration. Itās based off of the Save/Load screen where in the report it mentions how your PC is circled.
First actual art post- woo!
Messy traditional art as I try to finalize Aislingās design-

How do you draw so well on paper without getting frustrated with your own art? Bless me with a tip pls
I often draw very messily on paper. I just clean it up afterwards, either by erasing stray marks and guidelines and relining the drawing, or by scanning and doing digital touchups. Or I just leave some of the messiness there because sometimes that has more personality and charm than a pristine, polished drawing does. I am also in a near perpetual state of frustration with my art. I think that's normal for anyone doing any sort of creative work. Having to erase and redraw something, having to reconfigure your approach after trying and failing the first few times, having to relent and seek out some reference material - it's a confluence of frustration and challenge. As maddening as it can be, it's also part of what keeps things interesting. If it was all completely effortless, what satisfaction would there be in doing it?
I guess if there's a tip in here somewhere, it's to embrace frustration. If you're feeling frustrated, it's a good indication you have a critical eye for your own work and that you're venturing beyond your comfort zones. Both of those things are essential to improving. (That's not to say you should torture yourself. If you're so frustrated that your blood pressure is spiking, well, take a break, cool off, return after a refresh.)
Benjamin meets Mordecaiās family once; when Mordecai made an effort to visit home during his motherās passing. He and his Aunt Rosie got along the absolute best! Esther is not really a fan of kids so the relationship is cordial but kind. He only knew his grandmother for two days before her death but she was very happy to meet him, even briefly.
TW DEATH , TW MURDER
Mordecai was no longer in the business by this point. But as a final act of his former self, he went out on the eve of his motherās death and killed his former adversaries that were keeping him from visiting. His worry was, if Benjamin ever sought to visit NY on his own, they might mistake him for Mordecai. Plus, the men seeking revenge on him were now significantly older than when they first encountered each other.
Because of social stigmas at the time, Mordecai essentially lied and said his wife had passed during childbirth.
Hereās an old drawing of Mordecai and Benjamin arriving to New York for the visit!

Maeve Midwinter, the proprietor (and solitary worker) of a cosy little bookstore in downtown St. Louis. The epitome of a pristine and upstanding citizen, she carries herself with utmost pride. Serving her community like the very legal citizen she is.
Well... Aside from her random bursts of uncontrollable rage. But she will assure you it was just the amount of caffeine she had in her coffee that morning, "It's nothing, I assure you!". But besides that, Maeve has devoted her life to her books, the few things in life she finds worth her time. That, and the fact that she chooses to associate with what her mother would call the scum of the earth, supplying speakeasies with a portion of illegally made wine. Though perhaps being a supplier certainly has its... Perks. For example, getting to know the charming Australian bootlegger working for the infamous Marigold gang. Who she seems to have taken quite the liking to.
Among the pleasantness of her small bookshop on the corner, this gentlewoman enjoys listening to the ambience of her many records on her gramaphone. Coupled with the oh so calming turn of a book page when nobody is around. Loving all fashion with ruffles and jewels to them, she collects anything even remotely shiny she can get her little mitts on. As well as being an avid lover of dark humour, and strawberry flavoured macarons.
Very happy to have Maeve's character card done, I find her to be the more ostentatious of the three given her... wealthier upbringing.
As always, have a dazzling rest of your day/night! š
Thank you !! Glad I could do your designs justice-
I was messing with Aislingās hair for way too long, and Iām glad I finally stuck with the split hair š
