Hey, non-disabled people (and/or disabled people who are still able to work).

If you've ever been like "I mean the system is broken, but is it really THAT bad?"

Or if you or a family member are like "These disabled people are just leeching off the system and something something Welfare Queens something something Cadillacs"

Or even if you just hear me shouting about esoteric bullshit like the In-Kind Support and Maintenance Rule and are like "Why do we even have that lever?"

John Oliver's most recent episode covers the harrowing world of disability benefits and I'd invite anyone who hasn't had to go through that process to watch it, because I think people should know what I mean

Anyway, harass your representatives in congress to pass the Supplemental Security Income Restoration Act and the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act.

It'd be life-changing for a LOT of people.

Because I'm only seeing other Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our communities. We're worried, and we need people to know what's happening to us.

Full stop, I hate how disabled people are ripped off when it comes to buying basic items. Why the fuck is an electric wheelchair $4000, ableds can buy a used car cheaper than that. Ableds get everything catered to them yet I’m trying to get a new wheelchair and can’t afford it. That’s my fucking legs. This also applies to things that disabled people want, like I shouldn’t have to pay $1000 for an adapted guitar. You’re ripping one of the poorest population in the world.

There needs to be a cap on how much vendors can charge for equipment rentals and items that are needed or wanted by disabled people but y’all not ready to talk about that.
