A slightly angsty Merthur fic idea/ mini fic where a magic reveal goes slightly wrong, and Merlin and Arthur are captured by bandits. Things are still raw between both of them—think of their interactions in Diamond of the Day—but they’re stuck together anyway. They’ll have to depend on each other to escape (they will, but angst first).

The bandits know that Merlin has magic and give him cold iron shackles so he can’t use it. Worse, their leader is bragging how much coin they’ll get if they hand over their new sorcerer (Merlin) to Cenred.

Merlin’s fate seems to be uncertain: even if he escapes with Arthur, Arthur could still have him arrested for magic. Or he could end up being forced to fight for Cenred. (I think it’s headcanon that known sorcerers are forced to serve Cenred in Essetir and that’s partially why Merlin had gone to Camelot in the first place.)

So, as soon as they’re alone (in a cell or tied to trees away from the bandit camp), Merlin asks Arthur to kill him. (He would rather die than serve Cenred, and he knows execution probably awaits him in Camelot anyway.)

Arthur is obviously horrified that Merlin would ask him to do that. He asks why.

Merlin doesn’t bring up that he doesn’t really see a way out of this for himself. But he answers honestly: he doesn’t want his magic to be used as a weapon. (Merlin feels no loyalty to Uther, but he has no wish to harm Camelot or anyone else. *cue Nobody’s Soldier by Hozier*)

His answer is what brings Arthur to look at him fully again—stranger and friend, sorcerer and servant. (Basically Arthur goes from not recognizing the Merlin he thought he knew, to realizing he’s the same fool he’s always known.)

They escape later, and there’s much for Arthur to relearn about his friend, but they work together to bring magic back

Y'all can't convince me that my boy looks absolutely NO different than he did before that portal accident. Whether his "molecules got rearranged", or is walking around both alive and dead at the same time like Schrodinger's cat, or any of all the different headcanons that exist out there, surely there has to be SOMETHING that's not quite right, right?

That's why I really like to draw Danny's human form's eyes like the above concept art. I like the idea of his eyes passively being the only visual hint that not everything is as it seems. The eyes are the window to the soul, after all. Maybe it's too obvious, idk, I might scrap the concept at some point. But no one on the show has ever noticed the consistently blatant use of his powers in plain sight either, so I guess it wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Likewise, just like how Danny's human eyes will glow green when he's angry, I think it would be cool for his ghost form to also have a version of his "scary eyes" that's more dynamic than a simple brighter glow than normal. I feel like the idea of his pupils changing color to a bright yellow makes it much more intimidating than normal (I mainly took inspiration from the old Pet Sematary movie when I first thought of this, which freaked me out as a kid, so maybe it seems more eerie to me than it actually is, idk, I just thought it was a cool concept).

From a quick glance around the tumblr I didn't see anyone else have this sort of headcanon. Of course I didn't look very hard either so I'm sure there's something similar somewhere probably that I missed, but I wanted to throw it out there anyway.

(Also, I've been working on a couple of projects that I hope to be finished with soon, hopefully I'll be able to get done with those and post them within the next week or two. Or three. Or so. Idk, I have a full time job and part time job so it's hard for me to balance things.)

They Should Be More Than They Are

OK! so first official post on this hell sight we all love. I have absolutely no idea on how to structure a post, or wright out my thoughts soooo good luck. So for the last three days this thought has been stuck in my head, like non-stop genuinely will not let me sleep kind of stuck. The thought is this. Is Nocturn the death of the first dream to ever dreamed? because of so he should be so much more than he is in the show. If he was the first Dream to end then what was he of? Personally I think it was of stars. I think people have been staring up at that endless sky, dreaming, Wondering of the worlds beyond ours since people possessed the ability to see. So why wouldn't the first dream be of the stars? Is Undergrowth the Ghost of the first plant to die, or the collective of all plant's that have ever wilted and withered away. If so then he should be so much more than he is, If he is the first green thing to die, the first green thing to wither and decay. if so that should mean something more than it does. Is Vortex the end of the first storm to ever be? a single, incandescent point erupting into existence, a cosmic dawn that unleashed a symphony of light and sound. Raging and untameable. If so he should be so much more than he is. Is Clockwork the death of time or is he the death of the first second to ever be? he is the relentless rhythm of time, I know that he Is/Was/Will Be. the steady tick-tock that fades into silence. The hands that stand still, no longer charting a course through the hours, days, and years. centuries, millennia's and Eternity. Or is he is that first, Vast, burning second. single point of light. Before the dawn of stars, before the flow of time, only the promise of creation, a potential yet to be. If so then he should be so much more then he his.

Danny Phantom is Not alive, Danny Phantom is Dead, He is the ghost of a boy electrocuted to death by his parents invention do his friends peer pressure and his parents recklessness and poor lab safety, And him not refusing to do something he KNEW was dangerous. and because of that. He is Dead. Danny Fenton is Not Dead, He entered that portal and accidentally turned it on from the inside and was spat back out alive, his skin flushes, burses and scares and is not tinged blue with the touch of death, his lungs breath, his blood rushes thru his still beating heart, Danny Fenton is fourteen and reckless and a fool, But is not dead. Danny is both. Danny Is neither. He straddles the lines between, walking and rocking an a loos tightrope that should give way, snapping beneath his feet, He should not exist. It should not be POSSIBLE for him to EXIST. But... He does. And That Should Mean More Than It Does. I just feel like this should mean more than it does. That the potential that is there is somehow lost. And I understand that this is a kids show, I shouldn't be getting worked up over it but there is so many ways you could take this for an adult show that I don't really know ware to start. what are your thoughts on any of this? I haven't read all your tumblr prompts (or stories) yet, but for now the one with danny deciding to tell his parents because of dani keeps haunting my mind.

I'd love to see some sibling relations and shenanigans between danny and dani and jazz.

I think reveal would be interesting with danny knowing its not just his secret. I think it would make him more confident but also protective and between his parents, Jazz and Dani it would be a fun dynamic.

The reveal aftermath could go both ways (if it gets that far). I'm a bit partial to bad reveal bc I'd love to see them on the run/hiding/roadtrip situation with humour and angst mixed so i dont know what hits me next :> But good reveal would be cool too, with dani trying to fit in into the family and society at large.

What should I write next?

I took a writing hiatus after finishing my Invisobang fic but now I'm ready to get back to writing! So I am curious about what stories people are interested in seeing continued. An on-going series, a one-shot, one of my Tumblr prompts? I won't promise to fulfill any specific requests, but I have a lot of ideas and hearing people's favorites would really help me narrow it down.

Sam is characterized as a very strong environmentalist. And as a part of this, they have her follow a ridiculous made up dietary restriction: “ultra-recyclo-vegetarianism”

Which sounds like it’s meant to be all extreme, right? Something ridiculously strict.

Except that it just… isn’t??

For the most part it’s basically just the same as vegetarianism, and in the edge cases, it’s actually less restrictive than being vegetarian.

Because the rule is “don’t eat anything with a face” and for the most part, only animals are gonna have faces. I guess you could make the argument that like something like a venus fly trap has a face, but I don’t think any commonly eaten plants would count as having one unless you really stretch the definition. And unless animal products like milk are grouped in with the animal they’re from, they’re all gonna be permitted too because none of them have faces. So it’s unlikely to meaningfully ban anything that wasn’t already covered by vegetarianism.

But then on the animal side of things, it leaves some allowances that baseline vegetarianism doesn’t. Sure, most animals have faces, but not all, and some of the faceless ones are occasionally eaten (e.g. jellyfish). Heck, depending on how it defines what counts as a face, some decently common food animals like oysters could be permitted.

…though of course this assumes there aren’t other rules beyond that part (e.g. if there’s something about using “scrap” bits to justify including “recycle” in the name)
