Chapter 5 of Double Discovery (by @dp-marvel94) podfic is out now!
Danny briefly considers putting up that one tapestry with a huge genealogical tree and claiming its his to explain his many dead relatives.
He starts to think of alternative, less direct way of getting rid of stuff after a local occult comes to one of the garage sales. He doesn't think much about them at first, and simply treats them like any other customers. His sales usually attract some odd crowd and he isn't one to judge.
Well, a few days later they give him the same gothic lampshade he just sold them.
He can't sell it again. He isn't going to risk his secret identity getting exposed via a garage sale, and all the awkwardness that would come with such encounter.
He decides to gift it to Sam - he thinks it is something she or one of her goth friends might like. They end up talking about it and danny starts to pass some more antigue knickknacks for her to sell. It snowballs from there.
As a current college student I refuse to believe Danny as Ghost King doesn’t answer summons. As soon as people start summoning him he starts demanding home cooked meals and fat wads of unmarked cash.
That they started off summoning him with the blood of virgins was a bit distasteful, but once he told them to knock it off (threatened to take whatever harm they do to innocents out on their skin, tenfold) they seemed to get the message and started giving him offering of home decor and kitchen appliances instead.
All things being equal, they don’t even ask for much in return. For most of them, just the confirmation that he exists and is “”watching out“” for them is enough. Although lately he’s started giving his cultists random junk (a nice rock he found, a handful of marbles, a piece of scrap metal from his parents lab) and telling them they’re sacred artifacts of great power, as a joke.
When Danny has new people over they are always surprised how many nice things he has. But they are also really mismatched. There is a high-tech blender standing next to an antique meat grinder. He also once brought an entire wheel of authentic grana padano cheese to a party.
Also, danny has garage sales once a month. Which is odd for a colledge student living in an apartment.

Danny now has 2 secret identities.
First is Phantom - he cannot just vanish right after his death - that would be too suspicious. He is not sure if he wants to use his 'civilian' ghost to fight. Maybe he should become his own sidekick to fight off ghost attacks on school? It would save him from coming up with new excuses to slip out of class. 'I need to go to the bathroom' is earning him some odd stares and uncomfortable questions about ghost biology.
The other one is his still-alive body. He now has to pretend to be dead (the irony), but he still has human needs like hunger or sleep. Besides, he would like to use his body sometimes, since he still has one! He is considering telling his parents about his human needs - they already consider him a bit of an anomaly because he is sentient/sane, but he was kinda hoping to change their view on all the ghosts, so he doesn't want to make himself even more of an outlier.
The GIW use a device to forcibly transform Danny into Phantom in an attempt to unmask him to the public.
But thanks to some quick thinking and ghostly shapeshifting, Danny manages to make himself not look like Phantom.
Thus, everyone who isn’t already in the know assumes that the GIW just blatantly murdered some random kid because they thought he was a ghost (which doesn’t even make sense??).
So yeah now everyone is very strongly anti-GIW because What The Fuck, Guys. The Fentons are especially furious about this - just because Danny came back as a ghost and is somehow still sentient/sane (they’ll have to revisit that ghost research later…) doesn’t change that those bastards killed their son!!

It's my first DP podphic, so I'm really excited ^^
It's so much fun to read fanfiction right after watching the show. I can still hear dialog in voiceactors voice and I automatically imagine sound effects as I read. Shame that it stops after some time... but I can always do a re-watch!
