This has happenned before. "Only an idiot does the same thing again and again, expecting a different result". They dont see a ceasefire or peace deal as that. They see it as an oppurtunity to regroup, to gather more power, or just keep going. They have done this before. A normal peoples ceasefire is when both sides stop shooting... Well guess what! russia is not "normal people". The second you stop shooting, they take the opportunity to keep shooting or rest a bit and try again. They have done this before. It`s like telling someone who was beat up to go make it up with the psychopath abuser, like:

No! See he promised to stop hitting you or screaming at you. Do you promise? Yes? See, youre fiiiiine. You can keep living in the same house, he won`t do it again :)

And the second you are left alone with that person... they beat you with 10x spite and anger, absolutely pissed that you dared to get help and "make it harder" in the first place. For Ukraine to stop shooting, it is motivated by the conventions, rules, NATO, EU. What is russia motivated by, to stop shooting? The conventions and rules they ALREADY break like its a national sport? You know... the civilian infrastructure they don`t attack because its against the rules... the POWs they don`t torture in camps or execute because its the rules... the children they don`t kidnap, because its the rules... the hospital and the Chornobyl sarcofagus they didn`t attack because that would be against any moral or international rules... Such a good streak of following the rules and being motivated by Geneva n stuff...

Also friendly reminder that there's no such thing as peace negotiation with russia. It doesn't exist and we learned it by experiencing it via bombs and missiles. Signing peace deal with russia right now means giving them time to build and buy more weapons, and draft bigger army for them to attack again in the future. It's not a peace deal, it's a break for russia to do even more damage. You're literally giving terrorists time off for them to gather more resources.

I had a dream where i legit started feeling empathy for butter. I just saw a block of butter on a pan and was immediately overrun with immence feelings of grief and pity, thinking about how butter feels when it`s cut or melted.

People don`t even use the second part about the house. They just say: "Speak of the wolf". Perhaps comes from long gone supestitions of not mentioning dangerous animals as if to not "manifest" them coming to you. Its literally the reason the original word for Bear is lost. People genuinely were afraid to call the dangerous beast by it`s name, replacing it will nicknames.

There is a saying in Ukrainian: "Tell an idiot to pray and he`s gonna smash his head" (Скажи дурню молитися і він голову розіб'є). Sometimes you can just say the firs half since everyone already know the second one. It comes. Context is It comes from the tradition of bowing/kneeling during prayer. And it can have two meanings:

No matter how easy, simple or straightforward the task is, a stupid person will still find a way to screw it up...somehow. Kinda like the phraze "You had ONE job, dude!"

No matter how healthy, constructive, well-intentioned, moral, wize, demure or logical the idea/cause/midset, an idiot will still find a way to either: a) completely misunderstand/distort it/miss the entire point....and screw it up, or b) go copletely overboard with no measure....and screw it up

This isn`t even related to anything specific in my life or on the internet, i just REALLY REALLY wanted to share some cool sayings/idioms from my language. Maybe language and folklore nerds will like it. Maybe writers and worldbuilders will get some cool inspiration for the way characters speak. Maybe i will just spread the good will of funny shit in my language and culture. I will post some more of these

Nah for real. It reminds me of how chidren humanize their favorite toys and how i treated mine as a kid. It really is cute how the whole of humanity has a little quirk of choosing an inanimate object and treating it like a friend, if you think about it.
