What do you do in your journey to become cultured?
Well I missed out on pretty much everything culture in my childhood :( then I got to uni and made friends so basically whatever culture they know I'll know (I watched a lot of films last year for example because two of my friends are film nerds), I want to watch atla and lok and toh, I am playing some games with friends when I can (they have switches, I don't and can't get one but I will play with them occasionally), I am just learning a lot of stuff in general that people know. Goodbye for now as I am about to watch mummy (with the film nerds yes) but ask away more if thou wish
Every day I think about Li Xiangyi and his two swords and go a little more insane. The unbendable, unyielding Shaoshi that carried Li Xiangyi to the top of the world, and was found and lost and found again. The flexible but equally lethal Wenjing that remained with him in his life as a ghost, looking for the brother that gave it to him. Shaoshi, which his master gave him, which he left behind for so long in favour of his master's wine gourd instead. Wenjing, the blade that had always been soaked in blood and betrayal, undoing the meaning of the decade he had spent with it. Wenjing, abandoned after he realised it was a mark of everything broken and bitter in his past. Shaoshi, which he took up and carried again till he could, and shattered the moment he decided to run once again. Shaoshi, whose shards Di Feisheng found and kept. A swordsman shouldn't have weaknesses, Di Feisheng told him long, long ago. What does it mean, then, when a swordsman carries a sword that is broken and nothing more than a memory?
there are no words to express the emotions
A short comic I made about my experiences as a seasonal worker, and the way places change you.
“I am now a weak scholar and can never again beat you in a fight. What are you smiling about?
“You’re the one who has the advantage. Even if you hit me, I wouldn’t dare hit you back."
“You’re the Crown Prince now. If I hit you, that would be a death wish.”
Advanced Bittersweet Evasion, A Masterclass by Mei Changsu. (aka Nirvana in Fire, ep. 52)
I just read an interpretation for “the moon that year was not as bright as tonight” / “the moon that year is just like tonight” on bilibili that blew my mind:
When Di Feisheng says “the moon that year was not as bright as tonight”, he means that he did not appreciate their relationship ten years ago like he does now. And since saying “the moon is bright” is basically a love confession according to Chinese romance novel / drama conventions, Ah Fei is saying that he wasn’t in love (or didn’t realize he was in love) with Lianhua ten years ago, but realizes he loves with him now. (This is very plausible, imo, because ten years ago, he was single-mindedly focused on Lianhua’s power and channeled his obsession with Lianhua into their rivalry)
But when Li Lianhua tells him that “the moon that year is just like tonight”, he is confessing that his love for Ah Fei had never changed: he loved Ah Fei ten years ago and loves him still to this day 🥹
I really like this headcanon / implication that Lianhua was the first to fall in love with Ah Fei ten years ago (and not the other way around). Because imagine Li Xiangyi / Lianhua at the height of his power ten years ago, realizing that he has a crush on his arch-rival who only sees him as a challenge to overcome. Nevertheless, he manages to win Ah Fei’s trust and they sign a truce, only to learn shortly after that Ah Fei “betrayed” him and killed his older brother / shixiong! Imagine his despair and heartbreak as he storms into Ah Fei’s yacht / ship to fight him!
And then, ten years later, after he lost all is power and resigned himself to waste away as a dying man, Ah Fei shows up, tells him he didn’t order his shixiong’s murder, vows he will cure him, and refuses to leave his side. They settle into their old banter. They instinctively rely on each other but cannot fully trust each other.
And this is when Ah Fei, who has only known a life of violence and has never found a moment of peace until now, begins to realize that he can love! He doesn’t have to relive his childhood over and over, killing everyone better than him until he is the last man standing! For the first time in his life, Di Feisheng feels safe with someone, he wants to protect rather than destroy. With Li Lianhua, he can finally enjoy the mundane and simple pleasures of life. Of course the moon looks brighter tonight.
Hey ho I don't play league but I do play WR and LoR and I have read some of the lore so here goes:
The celestials associated with Targon are human hosts of the Aspects which are powerful beings from the celestial realm. The Aspects choose human hosts to give some of their powers to and the hosts (such as Leona, Diana, Zoe, Taric, Pantheon as well but he's different) enforce the Aspects' will on Runeterra. I don't think we know why the Aspects are so interested in Runeterra, but we do know they are against the Void. This page is great for more info.
Other celestial beings include Aurelion Sol, the creator of planets and galaxies but were tricked by the Targonians into wearing a restrictive crown and is now sealing Void rifts under their control/command; Bard, a mystical entity who kind of steps in when they are needed in extreme situations to prevent Runeterra falling into chaos; Soraka, once a celestial being filled with so much compassion she gave up her immortality in order to help the people of Runeterra; and some more.
I do believe that other than the Aspects and other celestial beings, everyone else is either of the Void or native to Runeterra.
For example, the Watchers are powerful entities who have existed since forever, and they look to destroy Runeterra for waking them from their eternal sleep by creating void rifts and learning more about Runeterra so they can either unleash armies of Void monsters to destroy everything or if possible to physically show up and do it themselves. Basically, they are the Void.
The Freljordian demi-gods include Ornn, Volibear and Anivia and more, and they are native to Runeterra. I'm not entirely sure what they are (oop) but they do have immense power far higher than most if not all mortals.
Janna is a wind goddess native to Runeterra whose strength depends on her followers. She was originally in Shurima but after she was no longer needed she went to Zaun, where the people prayed to her much more often in hopes of warding off the dangerous chemical fumes.
Nagakabourous is again native to Runeterra and is the god which Illaoi serves. I don't know much else as the lore surrounding them has changed quite a bit and I'm kinda confused :/
Even Kindred, who is pretty much the personification of death, is native to Runeterra (I think?).
Kayle and Morgana are the daughters of Mihira, Aspect host of Justice. Due to this they were born with powerful magic but they, like the other Aspect hosts, are native to Runeterra (only the Aspects themselves aren't).
Don't know if these really count but the Ascended are humans given celestial magic by the Sun Disc. The Darkin are Ascended who became corrupted by the Void. Thus these are all native to Runeterra.
Hope this helps, please correct me if I'm wrong or ask any more questions :)
Here is a question for all the League of legends lovers out there. Especially the ones who read the lore.
What separates the celestials from all the other gods worshipped on Runeterra?
I know that the celestials are littarly what the name implies, celestial gods representing different aspects, like war, twilight, etc.
But what about the other gods? Are they celestials too, or are they gods/godlike beings who are purely native to Runeterra?
I know that this might sound like a stupid question, but I am genuinely curious.
