"...You think things would have been different, if I'd been here?"
"I don't know." No, that's not true. He knew how it could've ended, maybe he would've ran away with Todd the night when his parents are asleep, or they could've called Mr. Keating to get them away. So many possibilities yet none took place. "Maybe."
They stand there, for another moment, the wind whispering across the ocean the only sound.
There's nothing left to say. There's everything left to say, and Neil's already wasted every chance to say it. It's too late for redemption, too late for forgiveness. Too late.
Todd's the first to move. He turns away, takes a step towards Charlie and the others.
Looks back, just once.
"Goodbye, Neil."
He doesn't respond.
He doesn't look back as Todd's footsteps recede, as the telltale hum of the portal spikes, once, and then falls silent.
They're gone.
He's alone.
"Goodbye," Neil whispers to the wind. --- pss @aedan-mills @impressedcauliflower @zeegy @inahallucination @nik-knacks
Got any tips for writing romantic slowburn fics?
Hello! I’ve done my research and I have plenty.
Firstly, here’s some helpful links to other tumblr posts and websites (where I got most of my information). They go more in depth than I will here. For the tumblr posts, I recommend having a scroll through the notes for extra tips.

The art of writing slowburn romance
Here are the main points I gathered:
Slowburns don’t start with love/attraction at first sight. The attraction builds up throughout the story.
There are many tropes that apply to slowburn; Friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, having to overcome something internal, having to overcome something external, etc.
To borrow a quote from @the960writers , “That’s why most romance stories have an exciting sideplot. It gives the characters a background to act against and it gives the writer time to develop the chemistry between the characters”
Your characters need believable chemistry, otherwise the reader has no reason to route for them.
At the same time, your characters need a reason to not get together right away. Otherwise, there’s no reason for the burning to be so slow. A few reasons for the characters to not get together right away include denial, societal taboo and them already being n a relationship.
When it comes to the characters starting to like each other, show don’t tell. It’s okay to occasionally have the characters go “Oh no! I’m developing feelings for B!” but for the most part, we shouldn’t be directly told that the characters are falling for each other. We should see them be nicer to each other, spending more time together, subtly flirting and showing other signs of attraction. It makes the relationship feel more real.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you want me to add more advice.

This fanfic has been the only thing I've been able to focus on all day. Holy shit. It's so good and I cant wait for the next chapter, it's honestly a master peice.
Summary: When a fire-wielding vigilante starts tearing her way through Orynth, Detective Rowan Whitethorn is tasked with putting her behind bars. He doesn’t know who she is, what she looks like, or what she wants.
But the one thing he does know?
She’s his mate.

BREAKING: Dracula has fallen down the stairs at the met gala
Joe Keery for WWD — August 2023
Dear my beloved,
My shadows have told me that you are struggling with your mental and physical health more than usual. I wish I could be there to help you feel better, but alas, I cannot. Rhysand has sent you on a dangerous mission, and prohibited anyone helping you. I told him it was a mistake, that it wouldn’t benefit you, but he disregarded me. I apologize that I cannot be of much help, especially since it is my fault your last mission failed. Hopefully I can convince Rhysand to let me help you soon.
Cassian and Elain miss you. Not as much as I, of course, but they miss you. Elain says the garden is dying without you, and that the smell of baked goods that fills the townhouse is not as...fragrant as it once was. And I have to agree. Especially the garden. The flowers do seem to be wilting without your beauty and grace to strengthen them. The once delicious chocolate muffins have lost their flavour and warmth. When you return, when not if, it will be like the first spring all over again, believe me. The sun will shine brighter, the flowers bloom once again. The flavour and warmth will return to food; the days will be longer, laughter filling the streets. It will be beautiful when you return home.
Cassian says the rooftop feels emptier when it’s just him up there without you to brighten his world. Because that’s what you do. You brighten up everyone’s world. You make everyone happy, even when you feel like giving up like you do now. Maybe that can be your reason to stay. Not for me or Elain or Cassian, but because you help people.
I hope this helped. I will be contacting you again via letter as often as I can. I don’t expect you to reply.
Just remember, the darkness is here to help you discover the sun inside you.
Your beloved,
Azriel

The way our souls lingered for each other – as if they had been separated and sent through the universe in eternal search for their lost part, in constant connection with each other, so that they can find each other again and again. They met under the covers of countless masks, unmasked each other with such intimacy that the pure act of unveiling was a revelation itself. With each collision fragments of long-buried memories became visible, everything that was hidden came to the surface and became decipherable and finally, our two souls merged into one.
I find it so beautiful that we all read the same poetry and miss different people.
