Well that's a kicker to ruin a quiet night. Fire alarm went off. Looks like we rated a 2 alarm. Appears to have been someone fooling around and pulled an alarm at 10:30pm tonight. Most of the building evacuated. A few stayed inside - not particularly smart. Most took their pets out. I tried to get mine but she got in such a panic from the noise, I wasn't able to reach her. Glad it ended up being a false alarm. (at Hamilton, Ontario)

Brian Greene asks and answers: "How to Make Science Great Again? Make it accessible..." Science is already quite accessible - for those who understand the very basics. The problem with many of the conventional solutions proposed is that they make the assumption people understand basic science, at least at a grade 9 or 10 level. Sadly most don't even have this level of knowledge, and more importantly, they lack the understanding and comprehension of what they have been taught. They may have their school grades, but they don't understand how it applies to the real world or how the scientific method works. Most don't even care about their ignorance. Until we fix fundamental science education and the apathy towards science, we'll never get beyond the ignorance of the general population. #BrianGreene #science #scienceeducation #makesciencegreatagain #MSGA #MAGA #dumbingdownofamerica #dumbingdownoftheworld #dumbingdownofcanada #scienceisamazing #scienceisempowering (at Planet Earth)
Taking my temporary roommate out for a walk on a nice Sun afternoon in her stylish harness and leash. She's still not used to the outdoors since she's only been outside about a half dozen times. But she immediately took to tree climbing her first time. She met her first dog (little lap dog) today and it was a peaceful and drama-free encounter. Sadly i only have her for 2 more weeks before she goes home. Despite scratches on me and furniture, I'm going to miss her. #kitten #kittenwalk #treeclimbing (at Hamilton Moutain,)
James St N artcrawl. Local artist Corey Weavers and thick crowds. Could easily justify closing off the street it's so busy, hard to walk around. #hamont #artcrawl #discoverhamilton #jamesstreetnorth #jamesstreetnorthartcrawl (at James St. North District)
Out for a hike in the pre-Spring-like weather and seeing some old friends. Nice to be feeding the black capped chickidees, the downy woodpeckers and nuthatches. Sadly the cardinals, sparrows and red-winged blackbirds were less sociable.
Interesting that there is a pecking order (pun intended) in who feeds first. Both the chickidees and the woodpeckers. In the case of the chickidees, size seems the determining factor. In the case of the woodpeckers, the females control the pace.
Also a nice gathering of Canadian Geese, Trumpeter Swans and Mallard Ducks. I think though they were protesting all the tourists.

A very big crowd in attendance at Becky Katz 10 years in wood exhibit at the Casino Artspace Gallery. It was the first time I had a chance to see some of her work. I knew she was well known and respected in the Hamilton Art community. Besides her creative ideas, I now see she also has a lot of talent. #hamont #discoverhamilton #hamiltonart @booboobubble #centre3 @centre3_ #woodcarving #woodetching (at Casino Artspace)
