(this was going to be another casefic sort of comic but my motivation vanished into thin air, so instead of a runaway comic it's three panels with no words or context whatsoever, oops)

DRIVE LINK HERE to the official mob psycho 100 fanbook!
as far as i can find, there's not been any comprehensive scans of the fanbook put up online, at least on the english-speaking internet. soooo since there's all sorts of fun stuff in it (character birthdays! character & creator q&a's! who would be most likely to survive on a desert island! guest art by other manga authors (the one in the upper left there is by the creator of FMA)!) i wanted to make sure everybody who wants to could see it!
more info under the cut. enjoy!
5x7", scanned at 300dpi in jpg format. exact pixel dimensions differ slightly due to how my scanner's auto-crop works.
the images uploaded are exactly as they were scanned, no image editing save for cropping. they could use some editing to be more presentable (levels adjustment to bring the darks down, more saturation on the color pages, & a teensy bit of rotation/adjustment) but i wanted to upload the untouched files. i might create a new drive with cleaned-up versions at some point.
i claim no ownership over these images, please feel free to do whatever you like with them, share em, edit em, and so on, no attribution necessary.
i bought my copy from hiro_shop_japan on ebay, if anybody wants to get their own.
these are obviously untranslated- some awesome folks have scanned & translated parts of the book (particularly the qnas). you can find those here! there's also a twitter thread of translated bits from 4chan, but i can't seem to find that one at the moment.
Drew some fanart of @kellen-kat ‘s fanfic, “Sweet Little Lies” on AO3! This is specifically from Chaptee 13, Mystify. I’ve never had a scene from a fanfiction hit me as hard as that one did. I tried to draw the scene as softly as possible especially since it was really emotionally charged.
Anyway I was absolutely in love with the fic, and can’t wait to see how it ends!
Regarding Serizawa and whether or not Spirits & Such will be a part of his future, the answer is implicit in the way he speaks here. In talking about how each person has their own role to fulfil in REIGEN, the scanlation translates this one part of his speech as given. But this removes the poetry in what he’s saying: he uses 流れ着く, “washed ashore/drifting toward”, rather than just “ended up”.
I’d translate this part as, “I understand this personally because I went through a lot before life drifted me toward this job”. The image is that Seri was lost ‘at sea’ before he finally found the shore - his purpose - at S&S. (Twitter)
As a fan of character relationship dynamics, I'm seeing a lot of odd "Serizawa and Reigen's relationship has no weight or substance" discussion on my tl recently, and it's important to me that this fandom actually understands the connection between these two characters.
The most prominent and probably most important narrative parallel being how Toichiro "freed" Serizawa by having him depend on him and CLAW, whereas Reigen freed Serizawa by encouraging him to be his own person while still including him in S&S and promoting real healthy connections with other people.
Toichiro towering over Serizawa while Reigen kneels to be at his level... Reigen sees Serizawa as an equal. Despite technically being "his boss," he includes him and encourages genuine discussions in both a personal and workplace environment.
This, and the way the two of them seem equally amazed and supportive/reliant of the other. Serizawa in Reigen's logical knowledge and street smarts and Reigen in Serizawa's psychic powers and spiritual experience.
On a more wholesome and personal note, there's also the fact that, after the climax of the finale, Serizawa was definitely calling Reigen in a panic to find out if he was alright.
Long story short, there's a lot of character interactions and development of these characters and their relationship if you really pay attention! Sure, they both have their own lives (Serizawa going to night school and Reigen... doing what Reigen does), but it's not like they're "just coworkers." They're very close, and they have a lot of canon material to work with!
What’s wrong with you Ritsu?
come get your free ammunition, hanahaki writers
(i tried to get most of these flower meanings from hanakotoba but also added in some interpretations from other cultures if they all seemed to share a common theme)

I wanted to touch briefly on a comparison I’ve seen making the rounds sometimes, between Saitama and Reigen talking to their respective pupils.
The debate here is often regarding who’s in the right. Is it ok to run away, or should you always try to face the danger?
Well, the problem is that to water the argument down to this is to miss the point of these two moments entirely. Saitama isn’t saying it’s not ok to run away. He’s saying it is a hero’s duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Reigen is saying that Mob *isn’t* the hero, and he doesn’t have to be. It’s not his duty to shoulder the burden and sacrifice himself for the sake of others when it would only cause him harm.
These are two ideas that can and should coexist. In one way or another we’re all the “heroes” Saitama mentions; there’s always going to be problems we have to solve, situations we have to manage because no one else will, because it is for the betterment and safety of ourselves and others. If we run away from those responsibilities, there is no one else who can clean up for us.
But on the other hand, there are issues that aren’t ours to fix. You may find yourself in a situation where you don’t want to be, where trying to fix the problem can make it worse, where unnecessary pressure is being put on you to shield everyone else at your own expense. And in those instances, it’s better to walk away.
Not everything that’s expected of you is your job to handle, and not every problem you come across can be walked away from. As human beings we need to be flexible, come into every situation with the knowledge that there is a choice to be made on whether this is something that needs our attention, or if it’s something that isn’t our burden to bear.
***(Editing this with the addendum because I think its really important for people to see)*** Edit:
I just wanted to add something to this because a lot of people have been mentioning it in the reblogs.
Mob is indeed a child. None of this responsibility is his.
But Genos is not a completely different story. He’s only 19 years old. Certainly old enough to do things for himself and to be taking on some responsibility, but not old enough to take the whole world on his shoulders like he’s trying to. There are older, more experienced heroes who should be there for these grand battles. All too often we cheer when Genos steps in to fight the big bad, whether it be the Deep Sea King, Garou, Centichoro, whoever. But consider the fact that he isn’t the only S-Class in existence. He’s not the only person whose job it is to protect the general populous from these monstrous beings, he’s just the only one who bothers to step up and do it.
In a weird way, Reigen’s message applies to him too. Not in the sense that he should run away, but in the sense that it’s not solely his responsibility. It’s pretty obvious that Genos suffers a lot from this idea that he has to be there no matter what, or he’s not growing as a person, not being a good disciple. There’s potential for this to change into a healthier mentality, but for the moment, Genos is constantly throwing himself into dangerous situations and barely making it out alive. What Saitama is telling him isn’t meant *only* for him. It’s a testament to the times they live in, a nod to the fact that high level heroes pick and choose what emergencies they want to respond to instead of always being there to save the day, the way you would expect. The thing is that neither of these approaches is really the right one. Genos throwing himself into harms way all the time isn’t necessarily heroic as much as it it self destructive, but it’s his only option when everyone else has decided not to show up at all. In the reality that they face, where threats to humanity are so constant, it’s not possible for a single person to be a true embodiment of a hero, because it’s not a world that can be saved alone. Genos needs help. He needs other heroes to realize what it means to actually be heroes, and to step up as well to face the danger.
I want to reiterate that both Saitama and Reigen’s messages are universal and coexist. Some things are problems that you have to step up and handle, somethings aren’t solely your problem, or even your problem at all. Some situations aren’t Mob’s problem, some things only he can handle. Some things are up to Genos to fix, others he won’t be able to do alone, because it’s the responsibility of other heroes to stand by him for the sake of humanity. It’s not about age, because no matter how old you are, it’s important to keep this in mind.
A leisurely afternoon at Spirits and Such 🌇 🌤️
And we learn that:
If his father is an elected official, image would be really important to him. It recontextualizes the seperation arc, because if Reigen was all over the news. He must have brought a lot of scandle to his family.
His mom scripted an apology for him because he’s the son of a public figure.
It makes sense now that he held a press conference to address the allegations, instead of say, releasing a statement online.
Reigen would have grown up watching his father maintain one face for his voters and another for his family.
It makes sense now that he’s great at debate and managing situations with words, because he would have grown up in a family where choosing your words carefully was an essential skill, having watched his father, campaign, debate other candidates, give press releases….etc
Everything makes sense now, why he is the way he is. Why he feels compelled to make a name for himself. Why taking on facades comes so naturally to him. All his inadequacies……
The western fandom seems to be really focused on the four kids, but personally I really enjoy the Spirits and Such Crew. My favorite type of story is these four misfits that are lonely in their own different ways, just hanging out together.
i want to see more of seri and dimple together!!!!!
“Don’t worry. You’ll be fine if you’re with me. I’ll show you how to use your powers.”
“[…] but what’s more important is to think for yourself. You’re no longer anybody’s slave or a shut-in.”
finally had time to draw and i draw fucking this god. anyway, full on side blog
this is canon and its amazing
Happy Valentines

I just love how Setsuo Itō (Mob's VA) is so emotional about the whole project you can tell how important it is to him!
That one Series of Unfortunate Events quote
[ID: A Mob Psycho 100 comic. Muraki gestures to Sakurai, who's glaring and surrounded by an ominous red-black aura while holding up a sword, and says, "You must understand-- he had a terrible childhood." Mob stares at him, dead-eyed, and replies, "Yes, I understand. I'm having a terrible childhood right now." Reigen is lying twisted behind him in the Family Guy Death pose. End ID]
Another thing I've heard some people mention is the differences between Mob and Ritsu's bedrooms. Ritsu has a bed, vast bookshelves and things on his walls, while Mob has a futon, a singular bookshelf and nothing on his walls. And this isn't a design flaw, it's a silent character story. As Mob grew up with psychic powers that he struggled to control, it was likely that both he and his parents thought it would be safer for him to have the bare minimum of things in his room so that nothing gets broken and/or wouldn't put Mob or those around him in danger. Ritsu didn't have powers growing up, which meant he could decorate his room.
This is only a small theory/headcanon that I've seen floating around, but I think it's pretty interesting and says a lot about Mob and Ritsu's childhoods.
I wanted to draw something warm
I’ve always felt like something about the end of the Reigen Manga felt familiar and well I came to the realization
Reigen wondering into the woods to die alone after losing losing everything he had left because what he did that he thought was right was wrong while carrying the burden of dozens of spirits he meant to carry to save someone he cared about was really...
Oh
I remember this a few times in a day and just laugh.
Okay guys I am currently living for ekurei and I can't resist talking about it. Even tho I'm not a fan of seeing dimple depicted as that one security guard, it does provide an interesting window into how he would act if he had the opportunity to have more physical closeness with others. Especially regarding reigen. Cuz I mean. Just LOOK at this, it melts my heart in some indescribable way
Dimple's face nearly nuzzled in reigen's hair as reigen comfortably leans back into him in the first pic, dimple annoyingly putting his arm around reigen in the second, reigen with both hands on dimple's shoulders like a motorcycle girlfriend in the last one,,, I love their weird little "I don't like him but we're locked in beyond comprehension" relationship
i love how in this first bit reigen talks to mob like “oh this is a classic experience every boy goes through this etc etc” which makes it seem like he’s genuinely Concerned at serizawa’s comment, BUT THEN A FEW SECONDS LATER HE’S LITERALLY GOOGLING DATING ADVICE
so he was literally just speaking out of his ass earlier and the implication that his shocked reaction to serizawa was more of a “WAIT YOU TOO??? DO NONE OF US HAVE ANY IDEA HOW THIS WORKS?????” is hysterical.
also kinda gay yknow
