i wonder what the process was when Charles left the school in dark phoenix
i don’t think anyone was sad that he left ☹️
they immediately got rid of his name and replaced it with Jean’s
like imagine leaving the one place you’ve built your entire life on and then just being replaced like it was nothing
i wonder how long it took for Erik to come find him afterwards
did they not keep any kind of memorial or tribute to Charles??? HE STARTED THE DAMN THING BE GRATEFUL
like they could at least have a picture of him that says “founder of the jean grey school, formerly Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters” OR SOMETHING 😭😭
like i get he’s an old white man and that we have plenty of those guys doing stuff but cmon show like a bit of respect for him at least 😿
writers of dark phoenix i will find you for butchering nearly everyone in this movie
I didn’t planned to cry but here we are 🥲
I've been thinking about the Paris Proposal lately.
I love it so much. In a time when Charles is so vulnerable and alone- Raven is dead, Jean is gone(?), he lost his place as headmaster of the school and leader of the x-men, and surely he assumes he's lost Erik long ago- Erik shows up and is so soft and gentle.
The best part? This line:
Throughout the series but particularly in Dark Phoenix, everyone that Charles loves interprets his intentions in the worst possible light. This movie is like, one long Charles whump; Raven accuses him of hiding in the mansion and taking the credit for the x-men's success, Hank cruelly blames him for Raven's death and turns on him after thirty years of friendship, and even Erik gets his licks in ("You're always sorry...but nobody cares anymore"!? ERIK!!!)
But then Erik shows up in Paris, and says "You saved my life, and you offered me a home."
I'm certain that in First Class, Erik didn't see it that way. Instead, he saw Charles making ultimatums and rejecting Erik entirely the moment Erik did something Charles didn't agree with (and we can all agree Charles didn't handle things well on that beach, but the truth is that he always, always forgives Erik and he always wants him back, even when he's upset with him)
Sometime over the last thirty years, Erik has reevaluated that time and come to the conclusion that- yes, Charles was offering him a home-not just a place to sleep and train and plot.
A home.
Somewhere you return to at the end of every day, regardless of what that day brought and whether you were the best or worst version of yourself, somewhere safe and accepting and loving.
After Charles has lost everything he cares about and is told he's selfish and dangerous and always has been, Erik shows up to convince him otherwise.
"You saved my life, and you offered me a home. I'd like to do the same for you."
Which, given all that context, sounds a lot like:
Two people with decades of grief and pain and anger between them seeing the love and good in each other at the end of it all.
Absolutely beautiful.
I love, love, LOVE to think about Cherik being together after the Dark Phoenix ending.
They live in France for a while, probably in a cute little apartment on one of the picturesque streets, then move to Genosha to live with other mutants and be left in peace. Every place they live is always accessible for Charles in his wheelchair, even though Erik insists on helping him most of the time.
They might go on missions every once and a while to help mutants in need, but for the most part both of them are retired and stay at home.
Now that they are together again, their minds are usually connected, because it makes them feel comfortable and whole, and they can constantly feel the vast love they have for each other.
After a while of being back together, they tell some of the X-Men about it. Hank is relieved, but wondering how long they will last this time. Peter thinks it's hilarious that is dad is with the professor and teases them about it endlessly. Everyone else is really happy for them, and enjoys their visits to the X-Mansion.
Most importantly, they are together, and have promised never to leave each other ever again :)
Okay, hear me out !
I found this fic on Ao3 and I loved it so I’m not gatekeeping :
Human!Charles is Nina’s father and he meets Erik while he (Erik) is on the run after the event of DoFP (Magda is actually the mutant) and he asks him to help a little around the house and in exchange he lets Erik stay and don’t denounce him to the authorities.
I feel like I summarized it so badly, but I swear it’s good !
May I add this one :
I think I’m gonna start a series about all the weird ass tags that I find
Okay it’s me with another Cherik fic recommendation !
Imagine meeting a man in a small café and he has fun trashing your favorite author in front of you. Now imagine falling in love with this man, without knowing that he is actually your favorite author?
Well, that’s what happens to Charles in this amazing modern AU (without power) signed by Clock, on Ao3.
We dive into a sweet and fun story of love and friendship to read, marked by its spicy passages.
Anyway, here’s the link !
Hi guys ! So since apparently people want to read a fic about the silly little idea I had, I need to give the people what they want !
I’ll take a few days to write it and come back here to show you the results 🫡
But, while I do that , if you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like to have in Cherik fanfic, just let me know ! I don’t always have inspiration but I would love to write for you ! (Please I really need other ideas and rn there’s nothing up there)
But thanks to that obsession coming back, I met amazing people !
What's even funnier it's been half a year since I watched the movie
Listening to this masterpiece while doing my revision for my mid-term exam is the best thing on earth.
Can we just take a sec to appreciate Charles and Erik’s dynamic in the dark Sentinel future, especially the Rogue Cut … of course it’s at the end of the world when their relationship is at its absolute healthiest. They’ve really made it work, and they’re an old power couple. They’re always seen together, each goes where the other goes, joined at the hip. They’re totally in sync, working together perfectly, getting everything done. The helmet is nowhere to be found, and Erik lets Charles into his head during the rescue mission with complete and utter trust. Erik has stepped back from his need to lead and control and lets Charles call all the shots, supporting all of Charles’ ideas. He doesn’t even kill the men experimenting on Rogue, even though he has every reason to, because he knows Charles won’t like it. They’re both in their 90s and yet they both kick legit Sentinel ass together. Erik works in total harmony with the other X-Men, finally being a true team member. And they’re finally actually communicating, with Erik spending the timeline’s last moments giving Charles the emotional vulnerability and honesty that he used to fear so much and telling Charles pretty much everything Charles needed to hear - conveying his undying love, his genuine regret for their breakup, and his yearning for them to get a second chance at a life together.
