Monster/Cryptid TF2 context

Ok so. As you most certainly know I am currently doing a serie of drawings coming from a random prompt which is, you guessed it:

Monster/Cryptid TF2

As I thought about each mercs and details about them I started thinking about the world they live in, the context of it all. It's not much but here's what I got:

They were not always like that. This "au", if we can call it that, starts with the normal mercs doing normal mercs things. Slowly they began acting strangely and developing weird capacities. What caused it ? I don't f-ing know. It was only a one time prompt remember. I didn't think I would get this far with this.

All of them live in the same place. I would imagine they ended up in a nearby city, with a small forest next to it. Maybe TeuFort, maybe not, again, I don't really know.

Something happend. As I said, they became monsters, and it would be logical to think they were not the only one. I think the people of the town, at least partially, became monster too, a lesser type of monster, but still. And slowly the town emptied out of it's people, either they left, turned or died. Does other cities got affected ? I don't know. If it's the only one does the government sealed off the city ? I don't know.

There are territories. Think of it like a video game : In each zone you find different types of monsters. Well here it's kind of the same. As I mentioned before, common citizen turned into monsters too, though those monsters were quickly killed by the far more dangerous monsters the mercs had become. What the mercs can't kill however is each other. So, naturally some started defending their zone, their territory. The mercs rarely go in the territory of another but some who don't have any (like sniper) just try to sneak pass the others. Of course, there would be some distinct characteristics of each zone like, I imagine Spy's would be very foggy, or, in the futur, demo's would be littered with explosion damage.

They don't really remember anything prior and they did not turned at the same time. This one is pretty self explanatory. I would think at first they didn't notice, then more and more of them started acting strange like, I would think Sniper was more distant and agressiv than before and one day he just... left, and never came back.

I don't wanna bore you with too much details. I just hope you still like it as I add more depth to all of this. And stay tuned for the next monster/cryptid that I will post right after posting this (can you guess who it will be ;) )
