The Devils Hole pupfish can only be found in the wild in one small but deep geothermal pool. When water levels dropped during the last ice age, this group was separated from other pupfish species and evolved independently in the limestone caves of Devils Hole.
They're currently critically endangered in the wild, and at one point the population even dropped to just 35. Since then many groups have been working together to monitor and save the Devils Hole pupfish. Part of that effort includes a massive off-site replica tank of the conditions, where about 100 Devils Hole pupfish live and are studied further. ©
Goroko can't catch a break with this b*tch (butch)
It really depends on what language you're learning, but I personally for learning Japanese use actual physical books to learn grammar and all that jazz, and I use an anki deck (the wanikani deck) for learning kanji/vocab. Anki is a flashcard program, it's very popular for learning languages, and most common languages have multiple decks available to download. It's kind of annoying to get set up bc the standard settings are wacky, but once you get that done you won't have to look at it ever again. If you need any help just shoot me a message!
Also physical books are awesome bc you can annotate on the page and that really helps me, but you can also find pdfs and online lesson plans for most books fairly easily.
Been wanting to learn a new language for a while now . I know Duolingo is trash since they fired most of their staff and replaced them with shitty AI and it seems like that's most language apps nowadays. Does anybody know of one that doesn't use AI, or if not an app then an online course?
I was gonna make a joke about how I say “I need to go the circus again” the way people used to say they need to go to the sea to balance their humors. But I realized the circus balances humors too
Honey, what's tommorow again?
A spoon's only objective in life is to make soup go upwards, and it knows this. That's why when you put one under a running tap it blasts the water way high. The spoon thinks there's suddenly TONS of soup to deal with and it freaks out.
awkward helicopter ride back home
When it comes to the Roseate Spoonbill, bald is beautiful! Though little teaspoons start out life with a hood of soft pale feathers over their face, they will slowly shed these feathers once they reach sexual maturity at around three years old.
Here’s a progression of spoonbills from hatchling to a mature adult so you can see what growing up looks like when you’re a roseate spoonbill
