I want to say something

Harry Potter was my shelter. I used to read and re-read the series over and over again as a means to escape reality, to escape my thoughts. When I was about 12, I started having problems with my mental health. My anxiety, social anxiety in particular, was crippling. So I was reading Harry Potter on an endless loop, obsessing to the point where I couldn't let myself go to sleep without reading at least a page from whatever book I was re-reading at the moment (yeah, I know it's bad). So the series was my escape, and it will forever have a special place in my heart.

BUT

I'm grown up now, and J. K. Rowling spouting that shit causes so much pain. Seriously, can this woman own up to her shit and just... I don't know... Shut it? Like, permanently?

Also, the series is full of harmful things which are subtle enough you don't notice them as a kid and they settle down deep inside of you and influence your view of the world (a race BORN to be slaves, antisemitic stereotypes, lack of diversity, etc) and if anyone wants to trash-talk the books with me I'm always ready.

I have an insane personal attachment to the SandRay pairing so I'm very biased. However I do recognize the possibility of them not ending up together because of all of the characters' unresolved issues. It's just that it might end on a high note or a low note, depending on where the journey takes them

Many people in the fandom are convinced that SandRay won't get a happy ending because it's 'not a bl' and it's 'realistic'. First of all, even I, the resident hopeless romantic, understand that realism is not the same as pessimism. Second of all, it's P'Jojo we're talking about. He loves giving people happy endings after a couple of tragic twists and time jumps. Just think about Bad Buddy or Never Let Me Go and their endings. I am a SandRay-is-endgame truther, because of the reasons listed above and because I will bawl my eyes out in the case they don't end up together.

i actually deeply despise the notion that only friends isn’t authentically queer simply because 2/3 of the couples ended up together. like aside from the fact that gay people end up happy together all the time, only friends is genuinely one of the shows that captures the queer experience on a level i’ve never seen before. like we joke about sand and the freddie mercury guy trying to make out once they find out they’re both bi but that’s real queer shit!!! nick and sand kissing and then laughing after they realize it did nothing for them is real queer shit!!! keira knightley was an extremely common awakening for bi girls, so having sand and ray talk about her and how pretty she is is real queer shit!!! mew and top moving in together after only a few months is real queer shit!!! boston’s cruising lifestyle is real queer shit!!! boston being as out and proud as he can without letting the general public know is real queer shit!!!! their friend group being entirely queer and so many of them having kissed or dated is real queer shit!!!! this show was crafted with so much deep love and care for the queer community and it pisses me off that so many people seem to forget that because it didn’t meet their expectations.
