sometimes i remember that suguru has literally been dead since the beginning of jjk and it makes me feel physically ill. like. we never got him back. not once. that was never him. it was always kenjaku in his skin, wearing his face, using his voice. and everyone just went along with it. and gojo went along with it. because what was he supposed to do?? watch his best friend's body walk around and pretend he doesn't feel like he's 17 again, failing all over again??

it’s not even a “they fell apart” kind of tragedy. it’s so much worse. suguru died, and then got turned into a puppet, and then gojo had to keep living in a world where his best friend’s corpse was smiling at him. talking to him. looking at him like nothing ever happened. you know how violating that is??? how soul-crushing it must’ve been to hear that voice and know it wasn’t him?? that his suguru was long gone and all that was left was a cruel joke played by the universe???

kenjaku didn’t just take his body, he took everything. his identity, his name, his legacy. made a mockery of it. reduced him to a vessel. and gojo could never do anything about it. he couldn’t kill him, not really. not without killing suguru all over again. and the worst part is that he hesitated. he always hesitated. because he kept hoping—kept hoping—that maybe there was something left. that maybe, just maybe, suguru was still in there. listening. waiting.

and that is the most heartbreaking thing. gojo never moved on. he couldn’t. he never even got the chance to grieve properly because the body never went cold. the body kept moving. kept smiling. kept killing.

suguru never got to rest.

and gojo never got to let go.

and in the end… they were both just trapped. one in a body that wasn’t his, the other in a memory he couldn’t escape.

no peace. no closure. just echoes and rot.

I think if given the opportunity Mitsuki would snap up the wonder duo for the fashion world

after a tearful hug from your maid of honor, she returns to her seat so bakugou can approach the mic set up next to you and izuku’s table for his own speech, his hands in his pockets.

he clears his throat, then surprises literally nobody by starting with, “m not real big on public speaking.”

a laugh ripples through the crowd of your family and friends.

“so i’m just gonna let deku do all the talkin.”

you turn to izuku with a curious look, half expecting him to stand up, but he only shrugs in response, a divot between his brows as he shakes his head a little. there’s some rustling as bakugou withdraws his cellphone and takes a moment to scroll through it, as if hundreds of people aren’t watching him with dubious expressions.

but then, izuku’s voice crackles through the speaker. “hey, kacchan! you’re probably still on patrol, but i just...”

izuku’s voice is muffled by traffic, the wind, and his own heavy breaths as he walks through it, but even as a few words get lost to the noise, it becomes unmistakably clear that he is describing your first date.

where you ate, how you wore your hair, the way you tilted your head to show you were still listening when he started to babble — and how that only made the babbling worse.

“and i know i’m doing it again now, so i’m gonna hang up, but i just wanted to tell someone — tell you, i mean — that i think... i might’ve found the one.” his laugh is somewhere between bewildered and embarrassed. “that sounds crazy, doesn’t it?”

you turn back to your husband with a slack jaw and stinging eyes. his face is vermillion, but his smile is unrestrained.

Katsuki loves getting you flowers, at first he really didn't get it, they died all the time but they made you happy so he got them when he thought of it.

But then he saw a video about what made receiving real flowers so special. It's the fact that they die.

So he would let yours wilt, snip one of the flower heads to add to a small vase as a momento mori before he brought in a fresh bouquet. Bright green stems wrapped in paper, the blooms a different flower each time depending on his mood. You swat at his hands that try to put them in the vase for you. He doesn't know why he likes that so much, that you're so eager to tenderly care for the gift he's given you. How he watches you make flowers last so long because of how you care for them, cut their stems, change their water, take out dying blooms.

In those moments he catches you smiling, humming as you change the water to flowers right on the cusp, of gently fingering a wilted bloom, he knows you'll love him when hes wilted too.
