Above all else the thing that you have to realize in this scene is that Miguel has his own roll of tape in his hands and he still asks Robby for help.
I cannot get over this detail, obviously Miguel knows how to do it himself and he has the means to but he wants Robby to do it for him and Robby doesn’t even hesitate. He doesn’t think it’s weird that Miguel would ask and he wants to help him too.
I just feel like this is such important symbolism for their relationship this season and how far they’ve come because immediately they’re showing that Miguel and Robby didn’t just stop fighting they’re actually protecting each other now and that very accurately sets the tone of their relationship in the new season.
Not to mention the intimacy and trust in allowing someone else to help you wrap your knuckles and the way it’s so casual that neither of them spare it a thought despite how silly and impractical it might seem to have Robby stop doing his own to do Miguel’s when Miguel could have done it by himself.
I could honestly keep going about this scene but it’s just so important to me and it’s the kind of Kiaz content I’ve wanted for so many seasons now and we’re finally getting it. I honestly can’t handle how perfect for each other they are.
maybe an unpopular opinion, but i really hope this is the last season of outerbanks... it's still cool, and if there would be a fifth season, i'd watch it, but it's also getting soooo repetitive
Cobra kai is going on a double date with your ex and your girl is also the ex of the other guy and the other guy is also now your step brother. Also you ex tried to kill your girl
Stop it, stop it! You can't keep hurting each other forever. Enough! Do you realize how stupid this is?
Cobra Kai + Headlines (3/?)
I honestly wouldn’t have had such a huge problem with this season if it wasn’t for the last like. Five minutes. So Robby got screwed over and Miguel’s win was unsatisfying and we had no real resolution for Tory with anything. I actually really liked what they did with Sam. I liked her choosing to do what felt right for her. I liked her going off to Okinawa to forge her own path while honoring Mr. Miyagi and learning about his history. And evil karate husbands murder suicide yacht explosion via Kreese’s cigar is the exact kind of gay ass campy insanity I tune into this show for.
And without what happened at the very end, I could also write off all the bullshit at the tournament. Robby saying “no mercy” could be interpreted as tongue in cheek inside joke, as him just telling Tory that he’s behind her no matter what and to give it her all. Daniel channeling Kreese (and using derogatory sexist language to boot 😒) would be much harder to swallow, but I could choose to view it in a similar vein—Daniel is reminding Johnny that he’s tough, he’s strong, he doesn’t give up, and he now has everyone standing behind him and supporting him. And Miguel…well lol I still think it’s crazy they flashed back to him fighting dirty, and the whole fight just wasn’t compelling to me, but whatever honestly. He got a happy ending and did fight with honor so ultimately it’s not a very big deal.
As for the rest of it…the entire conceit of Johnny needing this trophy when he literally already has everything and should finally be able to see that, Kreese telling him he “always does the right thing” (lol), the baby plot line, etc. It was all pretty much what I expected, anyway. And Johnny taking back Cobra Kai is not something I actually have a problem with at all. It’s been obvious since season 1 that this was always going to be the satisfying ending for him, and I would have been happy they at least saw this through. Except then they Did That. They made him try and justify the entire Cobra Kai philosophy—the same philosophy that Kreese himself realized was dangerous and spent all season trying to apologize for. The same philosophy that got a child killed five episode prior. The same philosophy that has been destroying the lives of all of these characters for the entire duration of the show. And then as the final nail in the coffin, they show Johnny is still ruthlessly bullying children and mocking them for their physical appearance. That he hasn’t changed or grown at all. And then the show just ends. That’s it. That’s the conclusion of six seasons. That’s the culmination of a 40 year character arc. Once a bully, always a bully. But now we’re supposed to find it funny and charming. Well, I don’t. Fucking sue me.

If the SOUR album by Olivia Rodrigo was a TV Show it would be Heartbreak High. A modern version of the original 90s show, Heartbreak High tells the tale of the students of Hartley High after the so-called 'Incest Map' gets revealed, and the drama that entails as a result of their newly formed sexual health class ('SLTs' - subsequently named 'Sluts' by the students). The cast is extremely diverse, with representation of different racial groups, genders, sexualities, and disabilities. The most wonderful form of representation is undoubtedly the authentic autistic representation through the outstanding Chloe Hayden as Quinni Gallagher-Jones. Autistic representation is extremely rare in the media and Heartbreak High manages it perfectly, with one of the most accurate depictions of overstimulation ever seen on screen. This is a TV show made for Gen-Z that actually portrays the generation extremely well, in all its wacky wonder. A tale of love, sex, and drama, Heartbreak High perfectly encapsulates teenage rage in a montage of hysterically funny and thrilling moments.
Saw someone saying Miguel was villainizing Robby in his Stanford essay by writing about what happened and I wanted to talk about it because I honestly don’t think that makes any sense.
Most people will agree that Robby didn’t mean to kick Miguel over the balcony, it was obviously an accident and that is important context that matters in the story.
However Miguel still got kicked over a balcony because of Robby and was paralyzed and had to relearn to walk and experienced a lot of trauma as a result of Robby’s actions.
Miguel’s trauma doesn’t go away because it was an accident and it’s a totally reasonable thing to write a college essay about. It’s also totally fair for Robby to feel guilty and upset at the reminder of what happened. But Robby’s trauma doesn’t mean Miguel isn’t allowed to talk about what he went through, Miguel can forgive Robby and still acknowledge that it was a real thing he went through that impacted him. Just like Robby would be totally justified in still struggling with some of the things Miguel did to him in the earlier seasons.
And either way in the scene Miguel does feel bad for bringing up something that hurts Robby and immediately offers to change his name which probably isn’t what Robby’s upset about but Miguel tries to make him more comfortable anyway.
In fact I think their dynamic at this point is shockingly healthy for Cobra Kai, they’ve talked about it and are actually building a respectful relationship that doesn’t just ignore what they’ve done to each other. Sure Johnny’s attempts at helping were horrible and I would’ve loved to see more in depth conversations between them but overall for the kind of show it is I think this season has really demonstrated a sweet relationship between them.
Reading everything really. 19 I feel like this needs to be more stylised.
