They're so innocent

My favorite thing about all this Maysles footage is how innocent they are. They're thrilled at hearing their own voices, asking how it works and why there's a delay. Baby George is still cuter than anything to me. The grouchy George of later years seems so different than the George who hadn't been hurt yet. And Paul saying “congratulations.” 🥰

I'm so glad it was these two brothers following these boys in their first US trip because they were lovely people who immediately took to the lads and made them feel comfortable and safe, and had fun with them. The first thing I thought of was the difference in them and Michael Lindsey Hogg, who had an almost antagonistic and definitely selfish tone with them, and when you realize that these brothers got the call to do this just hours before the plane was about to land at JFK it's easy to see how lucky they got and how lucky we got.
