arthur morgan is an art student at a community college when he gets flashes of something, of the past and camps and outlaws and everything in between. he thought it was just a trick or his brain, but when he gets coffee one night he finds himself meeting someone he swears he’s met before

past lifes. memories from your past life and soulmates and all that mushy stuff. his professor did tell him to quote ‘get in touch with your feelings’. the idea of two souls reincarnating over and over again through lifetimes and generations, touching and reaching, only for something bigger than the both of them to split them apart. it sounds like torture, and it sounds like something cheesy and disgusting. the thought of it grosses him out.

  because love is finicky and strange and painful. he’s seen it fall apart when his ma died that made his pa turn sour and corrupt. attaching yourself to someone and putting all of your heart knowing that if they leave, you will be ruined and into shambles. that trust feels terrifying, and arthur doesn’t do that. he’s already done it with mary, it all capsized and turned into nothing.
