some good replies in the ratio though
Radfems latching onto any feminist post, even ones made by people they hate, is not particularly unusual if you view radfems as just highly idealist feminists who look for cool enough aesthetics sometimes without looking too hard even if its transfeminist. This is proven by actual transfem radfems generally rejecting any of the sorts of trans feminism based upon reality once they meet it instead getting some kind of half detrans self hating nonsense like our lovely rodent @velvetvexations does.
Radfems latching onto and keeping ahold of transandrophobia truthing is the telling one however because as a anti feminist MRA movement they could only possibly latch on it if transandrophobia truthers did the poor little afab song and dance every 5 seconds, which they do.
It's kinda hard to not beef with your own community when people from that community are currently mad at you for existing and talking about your problems. Besides that people in the "anti-transmasculinity" crowd do talk about the issues that trans men & mascs face in society as a whole, not just from other trans people
This is the same logic as "takes two to tango". Refusing to mention intracommunity issues doesn't end those issues or unite the community, it just allows them to fester and for your experiences to be erased against. If you don't fight, yoy're sure to be beaten
If you understand as a trans man/transmasc etc. how upsetting it is to claim that trans men/transmascs etc. are especially and uniquely capable of transmisogyny you should then understand how upsetting it is to claim that trans women/transfems etc. are especially and uniquely capable of anti-transmasculinity.
Cis, perisex people are the main perpetrators of transphobia.
People are going to see "anti-transmasculinity" as transmisogynistic if you spend all your energy on your page complaining about the minority of trans women/ transfems who perpetuate it. And lets be honest, it's easier to call out trans women/ transfems because the internet loves to turn it's backs on trans women/ transfems rather than the cis people saying heinous transphobic shit. They are going to get the wrong idea of this term.
Stop engaging and feeding into the lateral violence and division of our communities. It is not helping anyone, and especially not our cause.
like a lot of time transmasculine "victimhood" is not about the transmasculine person themself. it's about the abstract ideal daughter that is grafted onto their body. when people talk about protecting their daughters from themselves, they mean they must kill the evil dyke to save the fantasy of a good daughter/future wife and mother. it's the same thing that happens with ageism towards children, where your "real" identity is the value you represent to society, and you- the consciousness driving the body- can and will be punished if you are seen as threatening that hypothetical person they need you to be. transmasculine people are not seen as innocent. their body represents the sexual labor society demands of them, and the social failure inside the body has to be beaten and forced into submission to protect the body.
Anything that insiuates that trans men are uniquly capable of misogyny
Anything that claims trans men/mascs transition to gain something, things like male privilege, or to "escape" misogyny
Claiming that trans men/mascs transition for a fetish, anything that says they're fetishizing gay men and are only transitioning to sleep with said men.
Claiming trans men are trying to get into "women's spaces" to rape lesnians(I've seen this a few times from cis lesbians)
Vilifying and fear mongering against testosterone
Anything that claims they are "protecting women" "protecting little girls"
"rapid onset gender dysphoria"
Anything that's claims trans men don't understand their own oppression
Calling trans men and mascs"emotional, hysterical,"
This is also exorsexism, but slurs like "theyfab" and "zippertits"
Claiming that trans men/mascs don't experience misogyny
Claiming that trans men don't actually want to be men, they just "don't want to be women" this was used in the book "irreversible damage" and I've seen it a few times outside of that
Anything from the book "irreversible damage"
Add more if you can think of it
And of course it would be ridiculous to ever believe that transphobia and misogyny could ever intersect in a way specific to their trans identity
"trans men only ever experience transphobia and misogyny" and as we all know those two things never intersect (sarcasm)
no migrant detention facilities are not auschwitz but i promise you something does not have to be auschwitz in order to be very bad. i am telling you that this comparison distracts from the point instead of galvanizing support by inviting discussion about the appropriateness of the comparison. i am telling you that there are ways to make people listen and ways to make them tune out, especially in a time like now.
helpful venn diagram of people who are against the term transandrophobia for those of you who arent aware of whats going on right now
jesus christ
Often posts would go:
*describes a bad thing that many people may go through* (Okay. Nice. Good discourse.)
*adds an addendum about how it disproportionately affects trans women* (Excellent. Important to say. Good addition.)
*adds an addendum to that addendum that specifies I'm a stinky TME and calls trans men a slur* (Why. Why did you have to say that. I get that you hate yourself. I get that you're in a competition to be the feministest. But it's so unnecessary. It also detracts attention from the group whose voices you were trying to boost.)
