It's okay if your ship was canon and has since broken up!

It's okay if the members of your ship have literally never spoken to each other!

It's okay if the members of your ship hate each other's guts!

It's all okay! Ship what you want! Let other people ship what they want! Ship and let ship, and all that good stuff!

Enjoy canon for what it is, and have fun in the sandbox that is fandom when canon doesn't provide what you're looking for.

Half your ship died? Not in fanfic they didn't.

A character left the show? In my mind, they're on vacation.

People keep tearing each other to pieces over whether or not their ship exists in the source material. Like... when did that become relevant? Of the twenty ships I currently have saved as faves on Ao3, only 3 were ever canon. No one used to care. And now suddenly everyone does.

Let's go back to not caring. Fandom was more fun back then, I promise.

Like, sure. It's fun when your ships set sail, but it's not some moral failing on your part if they don't or never will.
