What's new(ish) in the settler-colonial state of the US is that a series of bills have been passed in the House (the Baby Senate as I like to say) and are on their way to the Senate that make it harder to voice support for Palestinians while also making sure your direct taxes aid the genocide in Gaza.

These bills affirm the US's stance on the settler-colonial Zionist Entity and the implicit ties that the government has with Israel and really — just goes to show you how Israel is just one big base for American Imperialism.

Anyways, there's still time to call your senate and tell them that you don't want these bills that only further spiral the US into fascism so even if you think it might not do much — it's important that we document our dissent in official sources. And while you're at it — call your congressperson and tell them that if they voted for this you're not voting for them next election. If they voted against the bills, still call your congresspeople and tell them you support their decision to vote against these bills.

Here are the bills:

šŸ“Resolution: HR 6126

Resolution Name: Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act Description: Gives $14.3 Billion To Israel From The IRS (Taxes You Pay). Like straight up. Just takes it from an IRS project, which used our tax dollars to begin with, to give to Israel "defense." Link to check summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr6126

šŸ“Resolution: HR 798

Resolution Name: "Condemning the support of Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorist organizations at institutions of higher education, which may lead to the creation of a hostile environment for Jewish students, faculty, and staff." Description: Will Penalize Students On American College Campuses For Supporting Palestine. This includes "Free Palestine" Protests as according to Rep Owens who introduced the bill (Click). Link to check who voted: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/118-2023/h578

šŸ“Resolution: HR 3266

Resolution Name: "Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act" Description: They will be examining Palestinian education materials to see if it promotes "hate" or "violence" (aka are they teaching their children to become murderers??). Will inevitably require Revision Of Text Books In Palestinian Schools To Portray The Occupation In A Positive Light. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr3266

šŸ“Resolution: HR 340

Resolution Name: "The Hamas International Financing Prevent Action" Description: Claims to stop financial support for "terrorist" organizations but considering that Gaza's government is run by Hamas, then this would mean Gaza will receive absolutely no aid and donating to people in Gaza could get you in legal trouble. Link to summary: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr340

There's a button for most of these bills that allows you to contact your representative directly. Please do take the time to contact them — while many of this isn't especially new to Palestinians, the difference is now that we have a larger power in numbers than we did in the past. Please make sure to advocate for you Palestinian comrades in the US whenever possible! Help us Free Palestine one step at a time!

hold on a fucking second. delaware is a state?? i thought it was a river? or is the river more important than the state? why don't i know this? (i should mention i don't like in america, i'm just confused)

there is delaware (state) and delaware (river)Ā

both are equally strange

the state is a tiny little cryptid thing

the rive is a monster that spans new york, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. also washington crossed it once and that was like kinda a big deal i guess. like crossing the rubicon in rome.

the state tries to me more important with itsĀ ā€œim the first state!!!ā€ bs (seriously its even on the fucking license plates) but we all know. its the river.

twenty five twenty one: my favourite lines from ep.13

while we leave baekdo to make out in the snow, i’m coming to you with an attempt to analyze all the lines that made me fangirl in this episode. is my brain as melted as the snowflakes between hee do and yi jin’s lips? absolutely; so this post should be extremely fun.

ā€œis this kind of love unacceptable?ā€: right from the start, hee do delivers this gut-puncher with her signature honestly and emotional intelligence. i love how this line continues the earlier discussion of what baekdo’s relationship means to both of them, and encapsulates hee do’s current feeling of having done something to overstep, of being too much or not enough.

min chae’s physical presence in the past narrative is breathtaking enough to deserve a place in this post about words. the level of theatrical staging, dramatic irony of the future towards the past, brain-tingling uncanniness, and simple comedy raised the bar for art in any form.

ā€œkissā€: this tiny word-playing scene does a brilliant job of showing hee do’s state of mind, and parallels yi jin’s visually shown reliving of the kiss. while the translations of their feelings are seemingly opposite (words vs image; external expression vs internal disguise), they are of one mind throughout the episode.

ā€œthis is my loveā€: weaving this line as a narrative thread throughout the episode, the show lets hee do process all her complex feelings and still choose to fight for the relationship. while yi jin buries his feelings with the notion that they would lead to disaster, hee do’s open expression of her suffering is her signal that disaster is already happening, and yi jin is the only one who can stop it.

ā€œdamn you, alcohol!ā€: it’s only right that yi jin’s drunken confession reaches jiwoong first, allowing the narrative to bring him to the same level of suffering that he’s causing hee do. his level of dramatics during the drunken confession, down to his phrasing (ā€œand yet, i waverā€ okay sir may i direct you to a jane austen adaptation casting), is a perfect expression of his character. as we’ve seen from episode four, alcohol makes yi jin honest, and that’s something he knows well enough to try to avoid hee do even more urgently in the second scene where she waits in front of his house.

ā€œliking someone means i can learn about myselfā€: i want this line framed and exhibited in the louvre because it’s so accurate and still somehow felt like it’s never been acknowledged before. hee do continues to blow me away with how well she understands and represents real aspects of being in love, and the line can be interpreted in both a psychological and physical way, which makes it all the stronger.

ā€œis it because you understand me that you love me?ā€ vs ā€œi don’t understand you. i simply accept you.ā€: hee do is again hitting the nail on the head with her questions, and you can tell how much courage it takes for her to state the fact of him loving her. there is uncertainty there, informed by yi jin’s current behaviour towards her, but there is also the power to return yi jin’s hidden emotion to the surface by calling it by its name. yi jin’s response is both beautiful, with its meaning that he doesn’t have to get or relate to every facet of hee do’s self to appreciate it, and a reflection of the present situation, where he doesn’t understand why she keeps turning up at his door but accepts her presence as the strange wonder it is.

ā€œi’ll either get it all or lose it allā€: once again a brilliant summary of how it feels to take the next step towards the other without knowing if they’re there to catch you. all through this episode, hee do is in free fall, but she keeps her eyes open the entire time, and trusts that she knows who she is falling towards. it’s yi jin who thinks he’s strong enough to stop gravity, and it’s her who proves him wrong.

ā€œyou wrote this, didn’t you?ā€: the fact that hee do knows him well enough to immediately recognize his hand at work speaks volumes, just like his expression when he was looking at her respond to a bully, freak out over stickers, and replay the fencing match to spot her mistakes. there’s something so intimate about this scene, because he sees her as she is when there is no one to be for but herself, and loves her in her wisdom, her joy, and her tenacity.

ā€œwe were capable of anythingā€: including making me cry because it’s such an apt summary of how much their relationship has endured and how far it has come

ā€œi can’t lose itā€: what a beautiful way to weave the recurring question of what kind of love they both feel together with hee do’s gambling metaphor before wrapping up both. hee do spends the entire episode losing, but each loss comes after the gamble of a kiss, a confession, a question, a confrontation, an action; and each loss becomes a step towards the tower of self-doubt where yi jin tried to imprison his feelings. like a hero from a fairy tale, hee do had to try to win her true love’s heart three times, each time turning up at the foot of the tower where he lives, and being stopped by a blue wall of thorns. using her words as a weapon of honesty and persuasion, on the third time, she wins.

I Am So Ready To Witness The Downward Spiral That Is Aemond's Regency (affectionate).

I am so ready to witness the downward spiral that is Aemond's regency (affectionate).

The man had made his desire for Aegon's position his entire personality growing up. Why does Aegon get to be the firstborn son? Why does Aegon take for granted all the tools granted to him to ensure his ascension as King? Why does mommy waste all her attention and effort on fixing Aegon?

Aemond is BETTER. Aemond is competent. Aemond can surrender to the demands of duty if that is what it takes to be King (a.k.a to be taken seriously and be respected despite of his disability, despite of Viserys ignoring him, despite of Rhaenyra being named heir).

Rook's Rest happens and FINALLY Aemond's shot at the Throne is here. He's almost mad with power, having been bestowed upon all the privileges he's only ever dreamed of as a boy. He gets to make all the moves Aegon, Criston, Alicent and Otto are unwilling to entertain. He gets to speak his mind and have people enact HIS orders.

He knows what's best, he seriously believes. It's always been him that's known. It was always him that would be better at this. Surely, he would give the Greens a quick victory! Mayhaps as penitence for his own sins against them, for inadvertently starting a war in Storm's End none of them had prepared for that spiralled into a series of tragedies.

When Aemond makes up his mind to take Harrenhal he is sure victory is secured. He sees forgiveness in the horizon for himself and from his family. He's got this.

But when he arrives to find Daemon nowhere in sight, that his efforts were wasted and King's Landing under siege ... Aemond shrivels. All hope is gone. His chance at redemption dead. His reputation and capabilities as Prince Regent destroyed! He is nothing now, just like he'd felt for much of his boyhood under Viserys' neglect and after Lucerys permanently disabled him without consequence.

Duty, honor...what are they in the face of defeat, death and despair? Aemond quickly cloaks himself with darkness like the void he has become. A new identity, colder and darker than the one from his violated past rises from the ashes.

Blood he craves. Hatred he breathes. Darkness he will embrace. Madness becomes him afterwards and I cannot wait to see him let go.

something is so incredibly endearing, emotional, and beautiful in percy/walker’s final narration of saying ā€œif you feel like you don’t belong in this world, then you might be [a demigod] tooā€ which highlights so perfectly the thesis of the books in the first place! which is love and home for people who feel different!

it’s especially important to consider the origins of the book being rick’s son’s adhd and dyslexia, and rick wanting to create a world which gave meaning to these facets of his son that society has deemed hindrances. so when other kids out there who feel different— whether because they’re queer or have learning disabilities or they look different— are drawn to that world, to have the material explicitly include you and welcome you into the world instead of spinning that concept on its head and bragging about how widespread its fame is and how it’s for ā€œeveryoneā€ is so important and life changing. like, things don’t have to be for everyone! this media so specially dedicated to outcasts and outsiders and that’s what I love <3
