“Siiiigghhh…”
Today had been slow in the skate shop, and nothing bores the blonde boy more than a slow day in the shop. Kaminari huffed, glancing his golden eyes to the clock, watching it tick by slowly. The faint electric guitar riffing the melody he had grown to know every high and lows already had repeated for the fifth time that day, and all he had to say was a groan as he threw his head to the counter as he peeked at the time again, wishing his shift was magically over.
Ring! The door opened, a small bell rang from the top of it, as you walked in, your eyes darted around the shop as your hands clutched a skateboard by the trucks of it. Then, you spotted him, walking over slowly.
“Hey, um…” You spoke, fidgeting with the wheels of the board.
“I’m here to get some wheel change…”
Kaminari stood there for a moment, his eyes wide and his lips parted just slightly as he seemed to eye you up and down. Then he spoke up, clearing his throat.
“Oh! Uh… yeah, w-we can help with that.” He smiled sheepishly, nervously rubbing his hands to the side of his jeans.
You handed your board, carefully placing it on his hands as he reached out. The board clacked softly against the counter as he placed it down, wheels facing up. He hissed in the air from his teeth.
“Nice board.” He grinned at you, which slowly turned into pursing his lips from his realization of his awkwardness.
You nodded your head, “Thanks,”
Silence fell between you two, broken only by the faint melody of Avril Lavigne singing from the speakers; something about skater boys, and the sound of him rummaging through the counter’s cabinets, taking out a wrench, and a new set of wheels, as well as a piece of cloth already dirtied by oil.
“So uh,” “Just the same set? Streets?” He made sure, pausing his hands just before he opened the packed wheels.
You nodded, “Yeah, streets.”
Damn it, this is so… awkward… He thought, biting the insides of his cheek, pursing his lips with slightly furrowing brows as he nodded to your request. He cleared his throat, maybe louder than he had to. His hands opened the wrapped wheels, white, solid, and smooth, with small designs at the sides. He glanced at you from beneath his hair, meeting your eyes maybe a little bit too precisely. He darted his eyes back down, clearing his throat again. The familiar feeling of heat creeped up his neck.
“S-so uh…” He croaked, “How long’ve you had this board for?”
You stammered for a second, caught off guard by his sudden question. “Around… two years?”
He hummed in response, nodding his head. “Nice,” “You took nice care” He smiled, tilting his head up from his work to look at you.
Much to his surprise, he was met with you smiling back so sweetly as you nodded. “I don’t really skate that often.” You admitted, chuckling as you softly swayed your body back and forth to get rid of the nerves. He laughed along, screwing tight the bolts before he lifted the board up, turning it around to check it from below.
“That should do it,” He grins, handing the board back to you.
“Thanks, how much do I owe you?” Receiving the board on your right hand, you reached into your bag to take out your wallet.
He stayed quiet for a moment, seemingly to be considering something in his head as he eyed you up and down from your face to your board. Then, he grinned, turning to the cashier, tapping on a tablet before looking back at you. Seeing your confused face, he giggled. “For someone as cute as you? Free.” He said, his grin turning to a small smirk.
“Are you sure?” You chuckle lightly, tilting your head to the side to study his face, I guess he’s kind of cute. His eyes stayed fixed, nodding as he gestured to you to be off on your way.
“More than sure.”
“...Okay thenn…” You smiled, shrugging off.
As you left, he waited for a moment, listening until your steps had receded, before he hit his head, slapping himself on the cheek because what the hell was that, Kami?! He mocked himself, reenacting the way he said his flirt to you, and cringed. Groaning loudly as he dropped his head on the counter.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
“Come o-on! It’s been months since we last hung outt!” Mina’s voice whined from the phone. You hummed as you contemplated, your hand lazily flicked down on your board’s wheels, the same free wheels from a month ago, now already scratched and dirty from use.
Sigh… “Okay, fine, meet me at the park.” You smiled, complying as you stood up and flicked your board to your hand. Mina’s cheer was heard, followed along by a repeating chant of ‘Let’s go!’.
Winds of afternoon greeted you as you walked out the gates of your apartment complex, you zipped up your jacket, one hand clutching the board by the deck, letting it rest beside your waist.
Upon arriving, Mina was sitting on the edge of a curb, her legs curled up against her chest while her head rested on her knees, lazily gazing down on her pink phone while her board lay idly beside her.
“Oi” You called out, snickering at her lonely form.
Her head snapped to your direction, grinning as she jumped up, greeting you. “Y/N!!” She chimed, skipping her steps to you. “I need to go to the skate shop down the street first, c’mon.’ She cheekily smiled, tugging by your hand to turn your body to the opposite direction.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
Ring! The shop’s door rang, jolting Kaminari awake from the nap on his hands, making him stand back up immediately. “Hey, welcome—”
Wait. He recognized… that smile, your face, your eyes, he remembered that. Of course he did, despite it being a whole month ago. He told Eijiro of your purchase that day, sheepishly admitting he gave away a 2000 yen worth of purchase to someone he thought looked so cute. Sure, he got some scolding, but it was worth it… he guesses.
The world sure is small. You’re friends with Mina, a friend he had known even before he worked here.
“Mina!” He greeted, grinning as he made his exit from behind the counter. Mina smiled, hugging him as she rambled about how she missed going into the shop, and how her injuries’ gotten better so now she can start skating again.
Kaminari smiled, glancing towards you, he mustered up the courage to greet you. “Hey, I remember you.” He said, grinning sweetly as if that was a normal thing to say to someone who you had met only the second time.
“I remember you, too,” You replied a little too quickly. I mean—how could you not? The cute blonde who gave away a wheel set worth 2000 yen to you? And for a second, just one second, you swore to yourself you saw his smile tightened just slightly as you said that.
He quickly diverted his gaze away from yours, clearing his throat to push away that small blush creeping up his neck. “So uh…” He rubs his neck, glancing at you two from the corners of his eyes. “W-what brought you guys here?”
“Just wanted to get some spray paints.” Mina chimed, already making her way to the shop’s aisles, before shortly the sound of cans clanking in her hands were heard, muttering to herself as she debated on the colors she wanted to get, something about pink or yellows, while Kaminari stood awkwardly by your side, waiting for her to make her purchase by the counter as he swayed back and forth on his feet. “So uh… you wanna get anythin’...?” He spoke finally, a hint of crack was heard in his voice as he grinned sheepishly, puckering his lips to the side almost immediately.
“No…” You chuckled fiddly. “Just uh… waiting for her…” Your thumb pointed to Mina, who was still muttering to herself by the aisle.
It seemed like crickets sang between the two of you, and if this was a reality show, the narrator had probably commented ‘Awkward…’ towards your interaction. He opened his mouth slightly, a small sound came out from him like he was trying to say something… but then, Mina made her way back, rattling the cans in her hands as she grinned happily. “Got ‘em!! Let’s go!”
And so you two walked out. You turned to look at him as you reached for the door, with an intention of waving to him. His smile greeted you. A dumb, silly, adorable smile, before he quickly snapped back to reality, waving back to you frantically.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
The first thing that greeted you as you opened a packet of bandages at home were Mina’s texts, chiming your phone.
You snicker at your phone, placing it beside you as you gently placed a bandaid on your scraped knee, patting it softly to secure it in place.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
It’s February! What better way is there to celebrate the month filled with hearts then to make an event? Thundergrind, the small skate shop down the street near a skate park, had been busy from the night before, decorating their ceilings with little paper hearts and unpacked their valentines’ special uniforms. Kaminari and Eijirou half-heartedly did one last check of their shop, before nodding in agreement, iiitt’s ready!
The blonde stood by the counter, waiting for any customers to enter, his foot tapping the floor to the song playing by the speakers. His job today was easy; help people decorate their boards, and spray paint their shirts.
He groaned, “Vaaalleenntiinness’...” dropping his head to the counter.
He is convinced to the core that today is going to be the most boring day of his time at the skate shop, if not the whole week. He’s still got at least a week handling the same job, and probably witnessing some disgusting interactions between the couples in the shop. Eijiro snickered, “C’mon, lighten up a bit.” He smiled, nudging Kaminari’s shoulder.
“Don’t wanna,” Kaminari huffed, resting his chin on his palm.
The day went on almost as he expected, straining smiles to the couples requesting cheesy designs, laughing a bit too loud at any awkward jokes, at least the shop’s lively he thought.
Ring! The shop’s door rang for the umpteenth time that day, and suddenly his job that day felt like lead weights on his shoulder. Watching you walk in with a blank white tee slung over your shoulder, making a bee line to his counter.
“Oh! Hey uh–... It’s you, hehe…” He smiled, then grinned, then just pursed his lips, running a hand through his hair.
You smiled nodding to him as a greeting while you slowly took the shirt from your shoulder, while your other hand fidgeted with your phone.
“I heard you guys… do shirt designs, for valentines'...?” You asked, raising your shoulders as you lifted the shirt in your hands.
He nodded fervently, smiling. “Mhm!” As his gloved hands already readied the spray paints on the counter, “I’ll do whatever you want—”
Pause.
“...I- I meant the designs.”
You snickered, handing him the shirt.
And for a moment, the small warmth from his gloved hand brushed against your fingers, a smile crept up your lips.
“I wanted a lightning bolt,” You said, shyly tilting your head to the side as you averted his nervous gaze. “Like your hair,”
A moment of silence was there, and you looked up to see him silently stammering while his hand tried to translate what he was trying to say, the other sheepishly brushing his hair back.
“Cool, cool, I can definitely do that.” He finally manages while clearing his throat, a hint of shakiness in his voice while his hands scurried to find the spray paints again. “Y-yellow? Oorr…”
You nodded, reaching your finger to the shirt to trace the design you had in mind. “Mhm, yellow, going from here to here,”
He smiled, nodding as he bent down to the shirt, putting on his mask while propping himself on his shoulders to get started on the shirt.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
Kaminari sighed, pulling down his mask while he brushed his hand under his nose. He smiled, satisfied with the work he’d done on your shirt, now decorated with a lightning bolt across it. He looked up to you, grinning.
“So, how’d you like it?” A proud tone on his voice.
You smiled, silently chuckling at his obvious pride. “I love it, Kami, Thanks.
“...You did a great job,” You added, even if it wasn’t even necessary.
The blonde’s grin faltered to a shy smile, as he brushed his hand under his nose again, a smudge of paint perched on it, and without a single thought,
you reached your hand, gently wiping his nose while snickering, “You got something… there.”
WHAT THE FUUUUUCKKK I’m gonna die RIGHT NOW. LIKE. RIGHT. NOW.
“Oh! Uh– Thanks…y/n,”
Kaminari’s mouth opened and closed before he so very shakily said, “Y-you’re… so sweet.”
His hands scurried to take off his gloves, as he turned his back on you, muttering stuff you didn’t quite catch, something along the lines of 'Why did you say that?!' or something. When he turned back around, he grinned again, it seemed strained, almost awkward as he reached for your shirt.
“H-here, uh–...”
CLANG! TANG! Were the sounds the cans made as he knocked them over, hurrying to salvage them before they made too much noise.
“S-sorry, here..”
You giggled, gently grabbing the shirt he handed. As you reached for your wallet, he reached out, almost grabbing your wrist to stop you. “It’s… o-on the house.” He smiled, immediately pulling back his hand to his side, clenching his fist.
“Really now, again?” You smiled.
“...If it makes you think of me, theenn… why not?” He grins sheepishly, shrugging his shoulders as an attempt to get rid of his nerves. You couldn’t help but scoff out a chuckle, failing miserably to hold back a smile, then a grin. “I already do.” You mumbled, before your ears picked up on a thud, while he ducks down to grab some more paint, along with some more cans clattering. He stood up immediately, rubbing the top of his head with the stupidest grin he’s thrown at you.
You still reached for your wallet anyway, grabbing the pen lying by the counter to scribble something on the cash you had, placing it on the counter before you turned away, throwing him one last smile.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
Closing time had never felt so nice. Kaminari’s smile hadn’t faltered since you left. In his pocket (that he kept on checking in to) lies the cash you had given him, despite his words. He rummaged his pocket again as he locked the shop’s doors, unfolding the small ruffled up paper, as his fingers smoothed out the small numbers you had written messily on it, your phone number.
He couldn’t help but let out a small squeak as he walked, his eyes looking at the Yen like it’s a treasure he had found in the middle of trash, which it is, in his opinion.
“Spill,” Eijiro chuckled, nudging him. “You’ve sulked all day, but now you’re all jolly?”
Kaminari’s hand immediately pocketed the small cash, clearing his throat. “Nothin’” Yet his smile betrayed his ecstasy. “Just…happy that the day’s over, is all.” He said, shrugging his shoulders.
Eijiro’s skepticism was obvious as he huffed, rolling his eyes. “Mhm, suuuuure.”
…
“I got their number!!” Kaminari blurted out, clapping his hands over his mouth to hide his huge smile.
The red head’s eyes widen, along with his toothy smile. A cheer escaped his lips as he pushed Kaminari’s shoulder, laughing. “Text them, hello??”
“I will, I will!!!”
“...At home.” Kaminari stuck out his tongue, pacing up his steps to race past Eijiro.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
Kaminari immediately closed, locked his apartment door. Leaning against it while clutching his phone on his chest, he looked like those rom-com movie characters right now. His grin still graced his red-nosed face, as he slowly glanced down to his phone, his thumbs hovering over the keyboard before typing out his first message to you.
Kaminari’s smile tensed. His thumbs froze, and the typing… bubble kept on replaying the animation as he stared at your message. He speeds to his bed, screaming into his pillow while he giggles, but stops abruptly to slap himself.
“Be a man, Kaminari, be a man.”
He huffed, slapping both his hands to his cheeks.
Never had a laugh and a scream escaped from his lips that fast, and that loud. Kaminari’s hand slammed his phone to the bed, as he covered his mouth with his pillow again, giggling while jumping all around his apartment.
Handsome. HANDSOME. HANDSOME.
⋆✴︎˚。⋆
The evening winds caressed his face gently as he rocked back and forth on his heels, one hand clutching his phone, one hand rubbing up and down on his bag’s strap nervously. In his pocket, lay a small letter he wrote himself after around ten times redoing, along with a small simple black bracelet he had bought just three days before, dragging Eijiro and Mina to find the perfect one.
“Kami,” Your voice softly called, making him turn around to look at you. And if the shop’s LED’s weren’t enough to make your eyes look like the prettiest things he’s seen in the world, then boy did the setting sun and the skies do.
Oh, oh.
The first impression he had on you when you two first met was that you were so cute. But goodness the orange hue of the sun bouncing off your hair, your cheeks, oh my GOD he was ready to just kiss your cheeks.
“H-Hey! Uh…”
“You look… n-nice…” He grins, sheepishly swaying his body right and left as you approach.
You smiled, running your hand back through your hair while you fidgeted something in your pocket.
“Thanks, Kami.”
He smiled, grinning from ear to ear. His hands twitched—he wanted to pinch your cheeks. But he held back, obviously.
You two walked along the skate park, accompanied by the scrapes and the clacks of other skaters in the park, chatting and rambling about various things. He would beam up when you mentioned you also liked Avril Lavigne, or My Chemical Romance, and even Paramore. Awkwardly, he would tell you that he can do a trick, then landing on his bum after doing a small ollie.
Then, you would giggle and snicker, and he finds himself purposely messing up his tricks just to hear those cuts of laughter from you. And every time he did succeed to earn your laughter, he’d give the stupidest, dorkiest smile ever, before standing up, brushing himself off.
“You’re faking this,” You teased, between laughter.
“Naaaww, I’m just bad.” He grins, shrugging his shoulders, his eyes flickering between you and the ground as he smiles. “Okay, maybe I’m doing it on purpose.” He admitted, throwing his hands up in surrender while he walked backwards.
“...But only ‘cause I get to hear you laugh,” His smile immediately faltered when he realized what he had just said. “L-Like in the way that uh—...”
“You like my laugh…?” You chuckled, tilting your head.
“Yeah?” cough cough “Uhm… in a your-laugh-is-nice kinda way, y’know?” He chuckled nervously, shrugging off his nerves and his ever growing blush.
“...And I guess your face is nice too,”
“A-and your hair… your voice…” He muttered, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
You blinked, smiling as you let out a huff. “You like me… back?”
He groaned, throwing his hands up to his hair, covering his face with his palms, “Fine, I guess I like you… a lot…”
Pause.
“W-wait— ‘back’?” He looked up to you from between his fingers, his voice muffled. You only smiled back, pretending to be clueless as his grin grew and he jumped towards you with laughter echoing in the air, hugging you tightly, before quickly remembering something, pulling back as he cleared his throat.
He reached into his pocket, taking out a small letter and a bracelet, handing it over to you as he looked to the ground. “For you,”
You smiled, “Aw,”
“Thank you, Kami” You said, admiring the small loop.
You happily accepted his small gift as you reached into your own pocket, taking out a small miniature skateboard keychain. “My turn, for you, too.” Your hand handed over the keychain, and he nervously accepted it to his palm, smiling softly as he admired it.
“It’s cute, thanks, y/n.”
“...Cute, l-like you.”

Situationship!Skater! Sero x Reader
⋆˚꩜。 Late night adventures skateboarding with Sero Hanta
A/n: For my baby @bloomstream! sorry its not so good :( just wanted to get something out, but if the people want a part two I wouldn't be against it
"Pssst. Get up.”
Harsh knocking on your window woke you up. Grumbling, you groggily got up, throwing your windows open. You already know who it was.
Sero Hanta.
You sighed eyeing him.
"The fuck are you doing here at 2 in the morning?"
"We don't even have school tomorrow??"
"SO? I can still sleep on a Friday night dude, god forbid."
Chuckling lightly he pulled himself up onto your windows ledge, before inviting himself into your room, making sure to leave his shoes on the ledge. 'Manners' and all that. Manners your ass. Manners would be using the door at a normal hour instead of whatever the hell this is.
You let him in anyways.
Sitting on your bed like it was his, he leaned back, looking at you with that infuriating ugly lazy smirk that always-
"Took you a while to answer sweets. Tried dolling up for me?"
"I was butt ass naked. Don't get ahead of yourself" You replied dryly, eventually chuckling at his furrowed brows.
"Think your so cute hm?"
"The cutest."
You held his gaze, unfaltering even when he stared at you like that. Not the way a friend should stare at you. Neither of you had ever called it out, and you didn't plan on doing so anytime soon. His eyes dropped to your legs.
"Get changed. We're going out." He was staring you in the eye again.
"No. You're getting out and I'm going back to sleep" You huffed, narrowing your eyes at him as a challenge.
Sighing, he got up and made his way to your window, pointing down to where he climbed up from. You followed, your hipbone digging into the sill as you leaned over to see what he was pointing at.
His skateboard.
You side eyed him.
"Really?"
Your face softened. You don't know why but his dejected expression pulled at your heartstrings as he murmured a quiet:
"Look I couldn't sleep. Your normally up at this time so I thought-".
Huffing you cut him off, grumbling but already walking to your closet.
Sappy feelings were never your thing, either of your 'things'. Your whole friendship was built off of bullying each other out of bad feelings.
Turned away from him, pulling your shirt over your head you started to get changed. You knew he didn't care, but that he would turn around anyways since he was so 'mannerly'. You had both gotten over the weird 'opposite sex!' awkwardness a long time ago.
You had both bought matching outfits last time you went vintage shopping. Denim jeans with a red star on the back pocket and graf tagged across the crotch, a large black jersey and a large black zip up. Considering he was wearing it right now, you might as well.
Humming to let him know you were done, you looked around for your fanny, putting your head through the loop to have it slung diagonally over your torso. It already had the basics inside; some wax, a silver skate tool for tweaks, A couple extra bearings incase any broke, a couple tissues, some snacks, a pack of gum and a silver paint pen if you found anything cool to do a throw up on.
Going over to stand next to him by the sill, you wrapped an arm around his neck, tucking yourself into his side as the other held your board. You felt his breath hitch, but chose to ignore it as he used his tape to lower you both out of the second story dorm room. When both feet touched the ground, you finally let go, albeit a bit disappointed but you started walking none the less.
Finally out of UA grounds, you dropped the board, letting it crunch over the gravel. You knew it was bad for the wheels but you were due for a change anyways. The two of you got on as you reached the main road, pushing them till the end of the road; just before the downhill. This was always the route you guys took to the skatepark, the steep decline exhilarating and nostalgic rather than the flat road round the other side that looped a million times to get to the same place.
You and Hanta lined up against the crack in the asphalt like you had done hundreds of times.
"Three"
"Two" You followed on.
"One"
Pushing off strongly at the count, you both barrelled down the hill, the wind blowing in your face making it hard to see as your hair whipped behind you and the chill of the cold night settled itself deep thin your bones. Looking to your right, Hanta was laughing, a manic crazed adrenaline filled laugh. You joined in, whooping and cheering as you only accelerated faster, just two kids who had the whole world to themselves with nothing to bother their undeterred joy. The moon shone brightly overhead, like an approving warm hug as you both prepped to stop as you approached the bottom.
Swinging your arms around to get the power for a powerslide, you clutched by kicking out with your backfoot and leaning back. Coming to a stop just centimetres from the tree, Hanta also stopped right next to you, following the same movements, but just as he skidded to a stop, he lost his footing, collapsing straight onto you.
"ge-roff me" You huffed as you pushed him off your torso. Your voice dripped of annoyance but maybe it was to ignore the way your breath had hitched when he first landed on you, the way you held his gaze for a split second and every cell in your body set alight and was hyperaware of every point of contact with him. Maybe it was an excuse as you brushed yourself off and tried to desperately push any lingering thoughts about his touch to the back of your mind as you offered him a hand and pulled him up. Maybe it was to avoid whatever the two of you are as you smirked lazily at him, taunting him.
"Didn't think you were such a rookie?"
"Maybe I did it on purpose hm?" He replied with identical inflection, a teasing lilt to his question.
Now it was your turn for your breath to hitch. Not sure how to deal with all the feelings swirling in your chest, you decided to just punch him in the arm before continuing to walk in the direction of the bowl, not turning around to check if he was following you.
You already knew he was.
