One of my Delta COs talked about having a moral anchor for me. Maybe you should think about who this person is for you.

GTKM: [3/10] FEMALE CHARACTERS | KIARA 'KIE' CARRERA in OUTER BANKS (2020-2026)
So here's the thing: if Hina and Kainalu were to become an actual couple, the writers would be wasting so many opportunities. First of all, and I know this is subjective, there's no romantic chemistry/sexual tension there. I also think that the growth we saw from Kainalu once he accepted Hina was not interested in him has been the most compelling part of his character, and standing up to his father stems from this too. Them getting together might nullify all his progress (or it might not), but there's no denying that the development he might have had when coming to terms with the fact that you can't throw money to fix your life to your liking can't happen if they turn into a couple.
And I don't particularly care for Kainalu, so this isn't even what I really want to talk about.
I know I'm most likely being delusional, but I feel like Hina and Kainalu hooking up is just a plot device for both characters' development. Or that's what it should be.
you got a friend for me to double date with you and Peter? oh, Peter and I aren’t… oh my bad. he’s just looking out for me…he’s a good guy.
