Phalacrocorax auritus - Double-crested Cormorant
A beautiful, male, Long-tailed Duck in his breeding plumage.
Spotted in Virginia. A vulnerable species, close to being endangered. They are named for their long tail, but that’s not very surprising. They breed in the Tundra, and are deep sea divers that feed on small fish and crustaceans, they truly are amazing an unique birds!
Columba livia - Rock Pigeon
I think these pictures speak for themselves.
Dryocopus pileatus - Pileated Woodpecker
The picture is a tad bit blurry, but he’s still beautiful.
I think this is an Eastern Ringtail. It was found on August 5th, at the Shenandoah River State Park in Virginia. What a neat bug!
This is the jumping spider that lives on my desk. It just caught a fruit fly.
Larus delawarensis - Ring-billed Gull
Sometimes these three would all turn their heads in the same direction at the same time. It was adorable.
