Your body is an ancestor. Your body is an altar to your ancestors. Every one of your cells holds an ancient and anarchic love story. Around 2.7 billion years ago free-living prokaryotes melted into one another to form the mitochondria and organelles of the cells that build our bodies today. All you need to do to honor your ancestors is to roll up like a pill bug, into the innate shape of safety: the fetal position. The curl of your body, then, is an altar not just to the womb that grew you, but to the retroviruses that, 200 million years ago taught mammals how to develop the protein syncytin that creates the synctrophoblast layer of the placenta. Breathe in, slowly, knowing that your breath loops you into the biome of your ecosystem. Every seven to ten years your cells will have turned over, rearticulated by your inhales and exhales, your appetites and proclivity for certain flavors. If you live in a valley, chances are the ancient glacial moraine, the fossils crushed underfoot, the spores from grandmotherly honey fungi, have all entered into and rebuilt the very molecular make up of your bones, your lungs, and even your eyes. Even your lungfuls of exhaust churn you into an ancestor altar for Mesozoic ferns pressurized into the fossil fuels. You are threaded through with fossils. Your microbiome is an ode to bacterial legacies you would not be able to trace with birth certificates and blood lineages. You are the ongoing-ness of the dead. The alembic where they are given breath again. Every decision, every idea, every poem you breathe and live is a resurrection of elements that date back to the birth of this universe itself. Today I realize that due to the miracle of metabolic recycling, it is even possible that my body, somehow, holds the cells of my great-great grandmother. Or your great-great grandmother. Or that I am built from carbon that once intimately orchestrated the flight of a hummingbird or a pterodactyl. Your body is an ecosystem of ancestors. An outcome born not of a single human thread, but a web of relations that ripples outwards into the intimate ocean of deep time.

Your Body is an Ancestor, Sophie Strand

society really lost the war when dressing nice / slutty = ā€œgayā€ ā€œmetrosexualā€ ā€œis he šŸ’…šŸ»ā€. we had decades of men wearing crop tops and short shorts without blinking an eye and now it’s ye ole pilgrim standards and talk of scandal if they show their knees

I have also seen too many leftists or progressives (?) who are letting themselves forget about how bad Trump was and how much damage was done by and for him. ā€œOh, we made it through four years of Trump once and we can do it again.ā€ And so many versions of this.

No no my friends, it was worse than you remember, and things can indeed get worse. Trump may not be able to make himself god-emperor of the USA, but I can absolutely see a future in which we are no longer even a two-party political system. Say good night to democracy because it’s going to be a long hard sleep if Trump gets elected.

In the future, children will think our ways are strange. "Why do old people always grow so much milkweed in their gardens?" they'll say. "Why do old people always write down when the first bees and butterflies show up? Why do old people hate lawn grass so much? Why do old people like to sit outside and watch bees?"

We will try to explain to them that when we were young, most people's yards were almost entirely short grass with barely any flowers at all, and it was so commonplace to spray poisons to kill insects and weeds that it was feared monarch butterflies and American bumblebees would soon go extinct. We will show them pictures of sidewalks, shops, and houses surrounded by empty grass without any flowers or vegetables and they will stare at them like we stared at pictures of grimy children working in coal mines

Please take a look at these videos, and talk with your friends and family who own cats about these automatic cat litter boxes. These types of litter boxes should not be allowed to be sold, sadly there’s no regulations. I feel so sad for the kitties that were victims to these, and I feel so bad for their owners. šŸ’”

PSA: BAD LITTERBOX

i don't usually make posts like this, but this is a truly upsetting topic to me as a lifelong cat owner, so i feel i have a duty to share my knowledge with others.

there is a type of automatic litterbox for cats being sold that is EXTREMELY dangerous and has killed numerous cats through blunt force trauma, suffocation, etc. this litterbox is being sold under different brand names and logos, so i will include the picture of the model and two links to informational videos with more evidence and eloquence than i am able to provide.

please consider not having this type of litterbox in your home for your furry friends. me and my 16 year old tortie, puddy, want the best for all your kitty friends

here are my two video links that provide proof and testimonials of this harmful product:

I want to tell you something. This morning
is bright after all the steady rain, and every iris,
peony, rose, opens its mouth, rejoicing. I want to say,
wake up, open your eyes, there’s a snow-covered road
ahead, a field of blankness, a sheet of paper, an empty screen.
Even the smallest insects are singing, vibrating their entire bodies,
tiny violins of longing and desire. We were made for song.
I can’t tell you what prayer is, but I can take the breath
of the meadow into my mouth, and I can release it for the leaves’
green need. I want to tell you your life is a blue coal, a slice
of orange in the mouth, cut hay in the nostrils. The cardinals’
red song dances in your blood. Look, every month the moon
blossoms into a peony, then shrinks to a sliver of garlic.
And then it blooms again.

Aesthetically, I kinda love the antique gold of Syrax.

I’m rooting for Vhagar - I just LOVEšŸ’š big granny Godzilla dragon sooo much. She can burninate anyone she wants. Xoxoxoxo.

Pleeeeese can we get some legit Dreamfyre in the next season, please?

"jace’s character development" umm... his what? Pretty sure they could have swapped in a Zoolander Blue Steel cutout and left it in the background of the Dragonstone scenes and gotten 90% of his 'character' covered. And the one time they do give him some depth, it's to 100% completely contradict the books. They're doing EVERYONE on Team Black dirty in S2 except I guess Erryk.

i cant do ā€œare the writers biased towards team green or team blackā€ for 2 more full additional years we need a new thing to fight about

Oops, found something beautiful, better think about this all day.

Who makes the porn bots. Where do they come from. What do they hope to achieve.
