Every day we're learning more about autism, and every day more and more autistic people are being public about their autistic experiences. This is helping people recognize autism in themselves at much higher numbers than before.
More people getting diagnosed is a good thing, not a bad thing.
Big shout out to the coalition of Catholic nuns who just told the US bishops to stop being transphobic.
“As members of the body of Christ, we cannot be whole without the full inclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals,” the letter reads. It goes on to argue that “we will remain oppressors until we — as vowed Catholic religious — acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people in our own congregations. We seek to cultivate a faith community where all, especially our transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive siblings, experience a deep belonging.”
The letter also states transgender people are “experiencing harm and erasure” in various ways, listing daily discrimination, a groundswell of state-level legislation aimed at LGBTQ rights and “harmful rhetoric from some Christian institutions and their leaders, including the Catholic Church.”

hey gaymers, are you looking for a new podcast to listen to that’s currently under 10 episodes?
well, if you like mysterious radio hosts, tired detectives, teens looking for revolution, mail couriers who are just trying to deliver a package, and political candidates who would rather be fishing, Station Arcadia or Arcpod, may be the right podcast for you!
Station Arcadia is a queer audio drama podcast about stories from a dystopian world where dieselpunk, steampunk, cyberpunk and solarpunk societies exist side by side, told through a radio station on a shifting island by the Station’s Host, Kass.
you can find out more about it through its website (which i will post a link to in the notes), on tumblr or twitter with @stationarcadia, or with #Arcpod.
lemme know if you start listening!
i am dying for any arcpod related content.

You know how canaries were historically brought into coal mines, because if the mine was full of carbon monoxide the canary would die first and the miners would be able to escape before they died too?
I just found the greatest thing.
This is a canary resuscitator.
When the miners notice the canary getting sick with carbon monoxide poisoning, they can close that circular hatch so no more gas gets into the canary cage, and open the valve on that oxygen tank to keep the canary breathing. In other words, they made a spacesuit for birds.
By immediately giving the canary access to clean air, the miners can save it from the poison. The bird lives. To be clear, this is not for economic purposes, this was specifically created because the miners felt bad and wanted to save the bird.
Isn’t that just the perfect demonstration of what humans are like? We started sacrificing small creatures to save ourselves, and then felt bad and spent our valuable resources on saving the critters too. Because yeah the canary was the only way to test for CO, but it’s a living creature too, dammit!
Like my hubby and I 🤣🥰
