Here are some of my favorite Stangst stories that I’ve read, re-read, and collected over the past few years.  Some are old ‘classics’ while some are new or still updating. They’re listed in alphabetical order by title for easier searching.

Post-DOFP - Peter seeks out the Brotherhood to face Magneto. Magneto turned slowly, his piercing gaze assessing Peter with a critical intensity. Recognition flickered across his face, a faint furrow appearing between his brows. “...Peter?” Peter swallowed hard, his hands twisting nervously. He managed a hesitant nod, uncertain of what to say next in the presence of the man who had both terrified and fascinated him for so long. Magneto raised a single eyebrow, observing Peter with a mixture of curiosity and something akin to paternal concern. Not that Peter was delusional enough to actually think that's what it was. Nope. "You can relax," he said gently, his voice cutting through the tension in the room. "I do owe you a debt."

Post-X-Men Legends 2 - Pietro recovers from his ordeal. He felt Erik tense behind him, could feel his heartbeat speed up. “You…” Pietro couldn’t stop the tears welling up in his eyes. All these years of being so unsure of where he stood when it came to Magneto. Yet, here he was, holding his son close to his heart, fingers in Pietro’s hair, his chin resting on his head. Erik had changed, he realised, after facing yet another genocide in his life, and then almost losing his child. “You really love us, don’t you?” He managed to choke out.

I suddenly wanted to draw horseman! Peter - something for a story where Apocalypse manipulates a depressed Peter, forcing Erik to desperately fight in order to get his son back. I'd like to see Peter being too afraid of becoming alone again, already responsible for mass destruction and further spiraling down into a darker path prompted by en sabah nur. Esp inspired by this fic by @fouralignments, was really fun to draw.

<Storyline behind the image>:

The storyline I had in mind when I drew this was this: Peter lived an isolated life until the events of Apocalypse, all alone and depressed. He did find Erik but felt betrayed that he started a new family, sad and jealous of Nina, watching the happy family from far away. At some point Peter loathes that he's born a mutant because he can't seem to fit in society or his human family, and blames Erik further. Anyways Apocalypse finds Peter and sees something different and unique in him, decides to recruit him. He gives special treatment and acts possesive and loving to Peter. Peter loves the attention and is finally happy and feels like he's worth something after years of grief. Even if Peter didn't start out as a horseman I thought he would volunteer to do the hard work because some people who grew up unloved can't handle unconditional love- they believe they have to prove that they deserve it.

So Peter feels debted and works for Apocalypse, causes destruction which makes Erik confront Peter to protect his new family. Peter gets furious that Erik came because of his new family and not for Peter, spills the beans and beats up a startled Erik. (Maybe the golden tear marks can emerge at this point)

His mother and sister terrified of him and having nothing left to lay back to, Peter spirals further down into an apathetic darker path and grows closer and closer to Apocalypse. But at some point he finally notices how much blood he covered his hands with and collapses, suddenly hollow and aimless, losing who he is and overwhelmed by what he's done (Which is why in the drawing Peter's arms are covered in blood). He's ashamed, sad, panicking and doesn't know what to do- he hides in a cloak and wanders around.

Meanwhile Erik and Apocalypse is desperate to find Peter first, fighting each other to lead Peter towards the 'right' path they respectively believe.

That's all I thought but to add one more- despite painful and hard, Peter taking agency and making his own path regardless of what his influencers want would be nice to see. Also want to see Peter healing his wounds and taking responsibility of what he's committed.

Chapter seven is up!

Just so you know I'm not in fact a 16 year old girl I am a phantom and I was just 14 when my parents built a very strange machine it was designed to view a world unseen when it didn't quite work his folk they just quit but the I took a look inside of it it was a great big flash of things changing my molecular got all rearranged when I first wock up I realized I had snow white hair and glowing green eyes I could walk through walls disappear and fly I was much more unique than the other guys and it was then I knew what I had to do i hade to stop all the ghost from coming through im here to fight for me and you

BESTIE!!!! Tell me all about Rest Now, My Child (The Day is Over)! What inspired this idea? Were there any other details you thought about including but didn’t? LOVE YOU!!’

AHHHH BESTIEEEEE!!! I would absolutely LOVE to talk about Rest Now My Child because I think it’s some of the best angst/comfort I’ve ever written in a while!!

To be honest, it was shamelessly inspired by an Irondad and Spiderson fic of the same concept where Peter P. arrived at Stark Tower covered in blood and Tony helped him clean it up. I can’t remember if it ever explained how it happened in that fic, but I’m pretty sure I saw it on Tumblr, so if anyone knows which one it is please let me know and I’ll credit the author and fic!

I absolutely loved writing it though, because it’s protective Erik but in a very gentle way. It’s not covering Peter in a magnetic shield in the middle of battle but taking on the task that Peter is too broken to do on his own. It’s protecting him from having to keep living in the trauma and the shame and reassuring him through one of the hardest trials of his life. There's nothing worse than not being able to help those you love, and we really see that struggle with Erik as he wrestles with how he can help his son, not realising he's already doing everything he can 😭

And ooo that's an interesting question. Before I had Erik stepping out to clean up Peter's room, I was originally going to have Erik sort of guide Peter to sit on the bed and talk about what happened, before embracing Peter until he fell asleep after crying it out for a while. In the end I decided it was more haunting to have Peter be the one to openly tell Erik the truth, ready to finally say it to the one person he trusts the most.
