Energy Work 101: Basic Shielding

"Shielding" is an energy work technique that puts a protective sphere of energy around you. This technique is basic at its core, but can be continually evolved and upgraded to become very advanced and powerful indeed.

Concepts & Theory

Most all shields are spherical or egg-shaped.

Shields are often sized to be an outstretched arm's length away from your body, plus a foot (30cm) or so extra all around. You can make them any size you like. Because they are made of energy, the bigger they are, the more energy they take.

Shields fade away. Depending on how stable they are when you make them, they may fade within hours or days.

Shields can and will affect your mood and how people perceive you.

It is a good idea to practice dismantling/undoing shields as often as you practice creating them.

While the most basic shield is a bubble of white light, they can be endlessly modified.

You can have more than one shield at once. They can be stacked concentrically. Think about which shields you want to be closer to you and which you want on the outside next to others.

One of the most useful ways to modify a shield is to specifically choose what kinds of energies you want to bet let in, and what kinds you want to keep out.

The basic technique used for energy shielding can also be used for other techniques such as glamours, energy cleansing, object charging, and some forms self-care. Because of this, shielding is a good place to start practicing practical energy work.

Shielding is a cousin of aura-imprinting. The technique I am talking about here puts a bubble of energy on the outside of your aura. Aura-imprinting/strengthening techniques refer to changing your aura itself.

Methods of Shield-Raising

There are as many methods to accomplish shielding as there are people. Here are a couple:

1. Make one hand into a fist and place it over your heart. Place your other palm on top of it. Gently push down on your chest to create pressure - not so much that it hurts. Imagine, feel, believe, or know that within your chest is a wellspring of energy. This energy pools around your fist as you create pressure there. When you are ready, move your fist away from your body (experiment with both fast and slow motions). Imagine, feel, believe, or know that an energy sphere grows from that place in your chest and expands until it surrounds you. It stops expanding about a foot away from your outstretched arms.

2. Breathe in. As you breathe in, consider that you are pulling pure energy out of the air and into your body. Hold your breath for a beat and decide that when you exhale, that pure energy is going to start forming a sphere around your body. As you exhale, imagine, feel, believe, intend, or know that this energy flows around you to start forming an energy shell. Continue breathing in and out with intent until you can easily imagine, feel, or believe that the shell has become solid and complete.

3. Consider a pop-culture method that a character uses to shield themselves. Steven Universe can do that rose quartz thing, for example. Or, imagine Captain Picard of Star Trek saying, "shields up!" and the Enterprise being surrounded by powerful protective energy. Copying a pop-culture technique can be extremely effective for shielding. Put your intent towards causing real power to flow, and let culture be your guide.

4. Consider that your body is permanently connected to your environment and there is always free energy exchange passing between you and the world around you. This process is automatic, but like your breath, you have the ability to take control of this process if you so choose. Feel the parts of you making contact with the world below (your feet, or bottoms of your legs if you are sitting). Decide, intend, choose, or will that the energy passing into your body at those points will instead rise up and surround you in a shield. You may need to actively stay with this process and continually will it to occur; with practice you may need to only check in every now and then.

A Method of Shield-Dissolving

1. Consider that you have placed energy around yourself which exists there whether or not you can feel it. Decide, intend, choose, or will that this energy breaks up and dissolves. You get to choose what to do with the energy. Options include:

Drawing it back into yourself

Pushing it down into the earth

Releasing it into the air around you

Would you like to do a fun experiment? Release the energy into the air around you in a closed room with no open doors or windows :)

Consider drawing energy back into yourself until you feel your storage containers are full, then pushing the rest of it downwards and into the earth.

Basic Shield Programming

For practice in raising and putting down energy, the form or shape your shield takes doesn't really matter. If you need to know what form it will take in order to complete the exercise, the most basic shield is considered to be a smooth bubble of white light; you can choose to practice with any form you like.

Programming a shield basically means to choose its effects. Common effects include limiting emotional intake from others, and blocking out environmental energy.

Form should follow function. If you want an energy shield to totally completely block out 100 of environmental energies, its form may take an opaque, solid black orb. If you want the shield to limit some energies but not others, it may take the form of a chain-link fence, be semi-opaque, or be like vines with gaps-inbetween them.

Experimenting with what forms work best for you is worthwhile. You do not necessarily need to choose a specific form: simply putting willpower behind your intent will also suffice.

Two Methods of Programming

I recommend trying the first technique for initially creating the shield, and the second technique for making adjustments once it exists.

1. Choose the intent of your shield before you even begin making it. As you begin gathering power, hold your intent in the forefront of your mind. Understand, believe, or know that the shield will not be created in general, but that it will be created within the specifications of your intent, like pancake batter poured into a cookie cutter mold. Hold your intent at the forefront of your mind while energy is gathered and released into the shield. (This is what you're doing automatically if you choose a pop culture technique with specific shield purpose and form)

2. Create a general/basic shield in any way you prefer. Observe, believe, feel, understand, or know that this basic shield is under your control and will respond to your intent. Select an intent. Pour your intent into the existing shield. This may be done through the vehicle of the breath, hand symbols, eye gazes, chanting, or any desired method. Observe, believe, feel, understand, or know that the shield responds to your will like a pond rippling when a rock is thrown in. Maintain your focus until you sense the work is complete, or until you're tired or bored.

i feel like, after i have claimed something in my imagination and let myself just feel it already being fulfilled, i don't need anything in the physical world anymore- what i mean is, sometimes i even feel like i don't need it to happen in the 3d anymore (even though its inevitably going to happen) because i already experienced it in my 4d (imagination), and felt it so deeply.

it's like, whatever i want to feel or achieve, i can feel it right there in my imagination and knowing that imagination creates reality, it just makes me feel so fulfilled and at peace that i don't even have the need to look for it in the 3d anymore.

i used to rob myself from feeling these, i wouldn't let myself feel my wishes being fulfilled before they appeared in the 3d because i was scared i was kidding myself and that it wouldn't happen, i was afraid of disappointment, even though i knew i couldn't fail. i just couldn't help it!

but after some time, i realized that it happens in imagination first, and then 3d follows. that our imagination is the real reality. ever since then im not scared of imagining, i let myself just feel soaked with the fulfillment of my desires. and then the 3d just follows.

What I've manifested by changing self concept and state of being through affirming, persisting, and knowing manifestation is instant:

My dream home

Ideal appearance and massive confidence

Being the pinnacle of health

I always had an amazing self concept when it comes to academics but I've now manifested never dropping below my 4.0 GPA

My ideal jobS, a part time one that I'm doing now before I graduate university and another already lined up for me when I graduate next year

Never having to worry about money ever again

Pretty much being the best at everything I do (skills in cooking, dancing, writing, and pretty much everything lol)

Mental health recovery, being happy all the time ( got rid of emptiness stemming from BPD and depression)

All of this was done by simply changing my thoughts, knowing the moment I changed my thoughts I didn't have to do anything to "get my desires" because manifestation is instant and the 3D just presented me with what I knew to be true.

Honestly, it’s a bit clichΓ© even, it even reminds me of RuPaul’s drag race, because it’s someone who doesn’t hold their truth back and doesn’t accept any unsolicited opinions from their peers. I sense a tongue-in-cheek behavior, someone who always has a clapback ready for any occasion. Your inner diva is protective of the people around you, especially yourself and the old versions of you. Someone who’s very in touch with their more masculine traits & has extremely high standards for their relationships, especially friendships. This inner diva is someone your child self would look up to because there is a very unapologetic side to it. It’s a very self-controlled version of you, someone whose anger is channeled into a healthy manner and isn’t used to hurt yourself or manipulate others, although the temptation is there. At this moment, you may be intimidated to embrace this inner diva side of yours - I sensed some fear as I typed, because this inner diva is not afraid of their shadow side at all. It can be an off-putting presence and come off as arrogant, but that is only the surface. This inner diva is very balanced in terms of being both feminine and masculine traits - unafraid to embrace all sides of themselves. Putting it in more concrete terms, it’s someone who does no harm and takes no bullshit either.Β

There might be many childhood traumas holding you back (especially bullying, for this pile) and a lot of issues with rejection. Your family or past friends could’ve been judgemental and pushed you into a box that wasn’t quite what you wanted. I also see many questions and fears regarding your sexuality or gender identity - many of you might belong to the LGBTQIA+ community and have not come out to yourselves entirely. I think there are deeply rooted insecurities when it comes to relationships & how you’ll be perceived, so the first suggestion is to turn inwards. There’s a much admired quiet confidence from your inner diva, a mysterious aura which leaves people hanging a little bit. A sense of power, something mystical and even ethereal about your inner diva. It’s someone who doesn’t necessarily intend to take the spotlight because they know they don’t need to. Your inner diva has a strong sense of self and is very emotionally independent, which is not to say it’s a lonely thing. Your inner diva simply knows when to walk away and work from a rational place in order to make decisions, but it’s a part of you that never shuns your emotions. If anything, your inner diva is someone who honors their intuition and emotions so much that it is able to work with these messy feelings in a practical way. You have ignored your intuition for so long that the only way out seems to be logic and common sense, but common sense is for common people. I can picture a little kid in my mind’s eye who’s looking at their grades in disappointment and has never felt good enough for their family’s expectations. Kind of like β€œgifted kid syndrome” which has led you to burnout and indecision. Even loneliness, for some. There’s a huge wall between you and other people because you could fear being seen for your vulnerabilities, your fears and your missteps as well. Even as many people may look up to you, your impostor’s syndrome is debilitating and you may be overcommitting or overworking yourself in order to avoid feeling like a failure. But you’ll never be a failure. Even on your worst days, your anxiety or any other mental health condition do not define you. Your inner diva is almost goddess-like, a very alluring person who attracts wealth, good fortune and incredible people. I think your inner diva is also someone who cheers people up, gives them advice and has a very wise β€œbig sister” energy. You could literally be an older sibling or some kind of figure that younger people look up to - whether you know it or not. Your inner diva is angelic, there is so much purity and strength in it that you bask in the glory and you are blessed with opportunities. Someone who’s detached and nonchalant - not in a non-caring sense, but as someone who protects their energy very heavily. It’s hard to access this energy. Your inner diva is someone who has this precious, Queen kind of energy, someone who treats & spoils themselves not just necessarily in a material way, but in a very loving way. There is so much self-love here, someone who’s so comfortable with the spotlight that they have paid no mind to any haters or destructive comments. I get a bit of an β€œIce Queen” energy - the kind of person who does not give access to just anyone who wants to enter their lives. Despite being in the spotlight, your inner diva treats themselves as a β€œhigh value person.” I keep hearing β€œhigh value woman” as someone who adorns their body with only good things, someone who’s mindful of the quality of their work, their social circle and their words. Selective, which makes people desire this access to you even more, but your inner diva is someone who’s still completely shielded from any sort of evil eye or toxicity from others. It’s someone who calmly has no issues with saying no and honors their ambitions, but keeps their own business quiet so that other people never know what you’d be up to. It reminds me a little bit of Audrey Hepburn mixed with Jennie Kim - both of whom are considered fashionable and it girls. It’s the kind of β€œit girl” energy that sets trends instead of following them. It gives me a feeling of someone who naturally becomes or embodies the qualities of a leader without ever imposing their thoughts or opinions on others. Someone who leads by example and never allows anyone to take advantage of their resources or their good heart, no matter how misunderstood they may be to others, your inner diva marchs to the beat of their own drum and few people are truly gifted to be in the presence of this exclusive, enchanting energy.

β™‘ β™‘ β™‘ how can you embrace it better?Β By honoring your values, your time and resources, by prioritizing yourself and the people who value you. Not everyone has our best interests at heart and their betrayal will be their own karma. You have nothing to prove to anyone - that’s how you can embrace your inner diva. Know that not everything or everyone deserves a reaction or access to you, remember how precious your existence is. Many of you already embody many of these traits, but you may have a fear of missing out or even the desire to impress others, which never ever mattered at all. You don’t have to try, period. It’s also important to never beg for love or for attention from others - that it should come freely and lovingly or not at all. There may be relationships that are quite unbalanced in your life that need to be reevaluated, especially one or two friendships in your life at this moment. You may also want to reconsider the people you talk to, especially what you talk about. If you find that people take the credit for your ideas or your essence, it’s time to withdraw. You may approach people with pure intentions and ignore certain red flags because you want badly to believe that they’re not that bad, but your gut feeling is worth honoring! I think you must be mindful of the people who’re around you - it seems the most important message for you here. Reconsider whether people are draining or lifting you up, whether you want to keep them in your life. Sometimes, our self-respect has to be greater than the love we have for someone. today's the last day of school, so i'm grateful for, (and very proud of) all of the work i put in the past semester (and the past year). i'm very grateful for finishing the difficult year alive and well. i'm also grateful for time. i have more time these past few days, now that the semester's over, i've had more time to sleep, exercise, and do things i love.

Β» give it your all, and trust me, it doesn’t take much. don’t be locked in one day then half ass it for the next 4. this is the new you. this is your new state. to physically stay in it, you must mentally remain in it (snap for me, thank you). remember what the end will look like and let that be your drive everyday.

mirror work: i feel like mirror work just unlocks a new power within you. saying your affirmations to your own reflection. looking yourself in the eyes as you rampage about how fucking bad you are is so tuff. you will really be feeling like a god! do that at least 2x.

15 minute meditation: for 15 minutes, play a meditation audio, or not (here’s my fav) and just live solely in the 4d. rampage in your head about being such a hot ass mf. do not waver, contradict yourself, any of that. it’s fucking true.

subliminals?: i kind of wanna be a subliminal gyal again idk. but i made a subliminal playlist for this challenge. knowing me i will not listen every single night but definitely some.

hottie playlist: my favoriteeee! make a playlist full of songs that makes you feel like a bad ass bitch! no sad, depressing verses at all. straight bad bitch energy. play your playlist however many times you want in a day. music really be controlling your feelings so i feel like this will really help with aligning your thoughts.

it is never too late to start, you have been putting it off for a long time, you have a lot of information but you don't know how to apply it to your life.

ask yourself how would the best version of yourself act? what would the best version of yourself look like? what are the habits that your best version would have? what are the goals of your best version? what would you like to change to get closer to your best version?

2. take action

after knowing what you can do to improve, put it into practice now. some ideas.

start with new habits

be more organized and disciplined

be aware of your value

have a more positive mindset open to change

change your perspective on things

let go of what doesn't serve or benefit you

more self-love

surround yourself only with things that are good for you (also people)

change your internal dialogue to a more positive one.

start acting the way you would like to be, without fear.

3. feel, act and live like your best self

changing old patterns is not easy, but start doing it by replacing those old habits with ones that add to your life.don't live in the past anymore, start living your present, start acting and being the person you have always dreamed of being that doesn't mean you have to completely change your personality, it means you are improving your lifestyle and the way you perceive yourself and the world, you are changing your perspective to a much more positive one, you don't deserve to keep on living feeling bad about yourself and wishing you were someone else. you have the power to change.

reconnect with the things that you love, inspire and make you feel you. create your personal signature, with your favorite scent (perfume and cream), makeup, clothing and accessories, likes and hobbies, your favorite places, everything that inspires you to be your best version.

"can I Have Your Name, Sir?" You Point At The Cup In Your Hand With The Black Marker, Tilting Your Head

"can i have your name, sir?" you point at the cup in your hand with the black marker, tilting your head to the side with a slight smile.

the blond man stares at you for some time(it takes everything for you not to hide from his gaze) before finally muttering his name and following your instructions about waiting for his name to be called out.

he's kind of tired, you note as you take a glance at his retrieving figure from behind the counter; eyes foggy with dark circles under them, legs looking heavy as they drag him across the hall, reactions a bit slowed.

his order is a bit boring, you might even think, just coffee with no milk, sugar or anything, and you guess that he's had a long day and it's not ending as soon as he wants to. poor man, you eye him as he opens his case to pull out some papers and visibly sighs.

"nanamiー" you muse his name in a whisper as you tap the pen against your chin in thought. you think of something silly to wright on the white surface instead of his pretty name, pondering if he'd be entertained or more annoyed at you.

a couple of minutes pass and you call out his name.

"nanami-san, your order's ready!"

he mutters out a quiet 'thank you' and turns away to leave while you not so subtly admire his back, with your chest bubbling out of newlyfound giddiness.

you look at him from behind the dessert aisle on the counter, eyeing his figure through the various cakes and pastries, and your breathing gets a little heavier. it's easy to ignore the weird glances your coworker gives you as you wave her off with shushing sounds, gaze still locked on nanami.

he stops midway for a minute and your heartbeat stops along with him. he turns his head back to look at you over his shoulder; with brows raised as if he's impressed or taken aback by your gesture, and you want the whole building to collapse on you just to not feel as embarrassed as you do, but everything stops when nanami's lips stretch in the softest of smiles and he turns away.

letting out the air you didn't even know you were holding, you rub your face with your hands roughly, trying to calm down your nerves yet as soon as you open your eyes you are met with his narrow gaze from across the room.

your instincts tell you to hide, and that's what you do for the rest of the evening; doing your best to not get distracted by him, busying yourself with dishes and new customers, scrolling through tiktok when on break.

but it's so hard to not think about nanami, even harder than to not look at him.

you don't notice when he leaves, only waking up from your daydreaming when your coworker calls out for you, and there's no one from across the room to stare at.

you walk to his spot with a pout on your lips, taking the tray with his now empty cup and used napkins and heading back behind the counter. the cup in your hand feels warm; maybe it's the warmth of his palm or your sick imagination playing games with your heart, but the same warmth strikes you everytime you picture his smile again.

handsome man with long legs :)

you doubt that you'll ever see him again but at least you made him smile with the silly note you wrote instead of the name he gave you.

and then you notice black ink on one of the napkins.
