You know even though I personally dislike having long hair, I can't help but have admiration for the people who not only maintain their rope of hair, but sometimes take the time to style it in complex/difficult ways.

I mean look at all these!

They (probably with the help of someone) took all this effort to make their hair a work of art! Even though it's not nearly as permanent as hair dye or tattoos, they still do it! Even just braiding my hair in the most basic hair style was difficult for me, but those people have such a lovely talent for braiding (and possibly weaving, in some cases)!

My autistic brother created a new family Christmas tradition

Okay, so last year, my mom bought this Christmas moose that she lovingly named Barry

This is him

Cute, right?

Well, for whatever reason only known to my brother, he decided that he wanted to put Barry in different rooms of our house and it usually scares the shit out of whomever happens upon Barry; usually the person who finds him is the person that my brother wanted to scare.

So far, Barry has been found

On our dining room table

On my dad's side of my parents' bed

In my parents' closet

Outside their bedroom door (at 5 in the morning and scared my mother shitless)

Near the kitchen door

Near my fucking bed

At the bottom of my sister's stairwell

In our bathroom

And down the hallway

This has gone on for 9 days and it doesn't seem to show signs of stopping. Most of the time we know who gets Barry because it's always followed with a very loud "FUCKING BARRY!!!!!"

My brother is the funniest fucking person I know.

Hey, an online censorship bill that was introduced into the US senate is going to be under consideration on 07/27/2023

Same shit different day. These corrupt bastards in the senate want to pass KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act) which, as we have seen with similar bills in the past, is nothing more than a ruse using the “safety of children” as a guise to induce sweeping online censorship and surveillance.

If you want a more detailed understanding as to why KOSA in particular would be terrible for us, check out what the Electronic Frontier Foundation has to say about it here, here, and here (this last one is more of an aid for talking about why KOSA is bad). There are plenty of people and organizations talking about why this bill would be detrimental to us, and I encourage you to seek them out (if you’re playing around on Tiktok, maybe look up what people are saying about this shit). 

Essentially, KOSA would grant state governments the power to sue social media platforms for allowing unfettered access to what they deem as inappropriate content. The range of what constitutes as inappropriate content would depend on the state’s definition of said content (e.g., if you’re in a conservative state, LGBTQ+ information is often thought to be inappropriate for children). In order to prevent being sued, social media sites would have to institute massive surveillance over the content the user base posts/interacts with, ensure that users are legally of age to view “explicit” content (e.g., requiring you to upload a government issued ID), and preemptively censor content that could be considered “inappropriate for children.”

We know that this is a direct attack on our first amendment rights.

We know that this is just a way for them to control us.

We know this is going to actually hurt everyone looking for information online, especially LGBTQ+ kids who would (in many states) no longer have access to LGBTQ+ resources online.

Please call your senators (find out who they are here), especially if they are on the committee for commerce, science, and transportation. Tell them to vote NO on KOSA, tell them that it is a direct violation of our rights to privacy, and our first amendment rights. Tell them that, SHOULD KOSA BE PASSED, you will do everything in your power to support a candidate in opposition to them that is against KOSA during their next election cycle. If you are currently not of voting age, call them and let them know that you will not support them should they pass a bill that doesn’t actually act in your best interest.

I know phone calls are scary, but what’s scarier is an internet under the total control and discretion of the bigots that are ruining our lives.

WALT DISNEY PRODUCTION WORKERS NEED YOUR HELP!

Hey fam! The Mouse is refusing to recognize the unionization efforts of its production workers. If you're not familiar with what PAs or PMs do, I'll outline it briefly. The tl;dr is that NO ANIMATION WOULD GET DONE WITHOUT PRODUCTION WORKERS. They are the glue holding together every single production of your very favorite cartoons!

They take notes in all the meetings with the artists.

They make sure the artists are meeting their deadlines (and showing up to the meetings in the first place).

They help us navigate studio servers to find the files we're looking for.

They send us our time cards, and make sure we get paid!

Production workers do all this and more, often for minimum wage. The hardships that they suffer as a result--the long hours, the unpaid overtime, the abuses of power--are horrific.

You'd really think that they'd be compensated fairly for these jobs! Can you imagine trying to live in Los Angeles or New York on minimum wage with a job that definitely won't allow you time to pick up a second or third one??

This has to stop, and you can help.

All that Walt Disney Animation Studio's production workers ask is that you add your name to this petition! That's it.
