You guys are probably gonna hate me but I need to talk about this thing I’ve been seeing on my timeline with people being like “you’re sexualizing Ellie” and hating on porn with no plot.

Women are sexual creatures and it shouldn’t be jaw droppingly surprising to anybody that there’s a video game character that people find very sexually attractive. I understand some people really like softer fics with plot or some people really only like fluff. And that is perfectly fine. However, it shouldn’t be an issue that there are others who wanna eat her off the bone. Most people who consume sexual tlou content also consume content that pertains to the characters themselves, their development, and their lives. Were in in this fandom for a reason. There’s no lack of posts commenting on the show and how genius it is. And there’s no lack of fanfics that are fluffy and rich in plot.

Watching the elections hurts so bad. Because it’s no longer they voted for someone I dislike. It is they

- voted against my right for disability accommodation

- they voted against my sister right to love who she wants

- they voted against my friends feeling comfortable in there skin

- they voted against my mother being worth more than a wife

They voted against me and the people I love. They voted against our fundamental rights. And seeing HOW MANY fucking hurts. Do 62 million people really hate my existence that bad? Do 62 million people really think my sister doesn’t deserve happiness? Do 62 million people really see my mother as nothing more than a uterus?

Can 62 million people really be this hateful?

Can you do one where we are his wife and he could tell something was off with us so he goes out with us for our match and in the middle of it we pass out and he gets in the ring all worried and he carries us back stage and the whole heart foundation is worried and he stays with us till we wake up

There's not a fine line between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation. The difference is more obvious than you think it is.

Researching another person's cultural and really learning it is not appropriation in the slightest. I love learning others cultures. Genuinely learning and understanding another people's way of life and their traditions is appreciation. Asking questions about their culture and learning is a show of appreciation. And if you are lucky to be invited to join those people because they want you to be there and experience whatever it is they're doing, that is appreciation.

If you get gifted something of importance from another culture, that's appreciation. Because they willingly shared it with you. You standing by them in protests or in celebrations amplifying their voices is appreciation. You fighting with them against those who dismiss their culture or their way of life even when not they are not present is appreciation.

Appropriation is taking without asking (read: stealing) a part of a culture reframing or rewording it to seem a little different and claiming it as yours. Appropriation is wearing someone's artifacts for funsies. Talking over others experiences especially when you yourself are not prone to experiencing what they are more likely to deal with. A closed culture is closed for a fucking reason. You can do your research sure, but participation is not for you.

Appreciating is observation, understanding, a hands off unless invited or if it considered open for anyone to come and participate if they like. Appreciating is respecting the boundaries that have been made. Appropriation does none of those things.

And one more thing: The act of learning another's language unless specified that this should not be spoken by anyone outside that culture is not appropriation at all. In fact it breaks a huge barrier, and brings people closer together. Even if you're struggling to speak it, write it, understand etc. People will see that effort and encourage/help you.

Obviously the idea that Chinese people are some “others” and only realizing after downloading Xiaohongshu they’re Just Human Beings is bad, but I think the fact that people are learning is more important. Embarrassing, sure, but did you want them to live in a bubble forever? Is directly interacting with Chinese people on an unlocalized app not such a beautiful and fun way to learn about the world, free of American propaganda?

And it all came about because the US Government is banning TikTok due to fear of """Chinese spies"""… and now, faster than ever, Americans are forming friendships with Chinese folks. Amazing stuff, truly.

idk something about being a girl and having 2016 be the first election I remember and this being the first election I am actually politically aware of just sucks and I know she hasn’t lost yet and there still is hope but like really is a woman that much worse than that man. And I know it’s not just about gender, it’s also about politics, but this reminds me too much of my math classes throughout middle and high school. I love this country, every speck of my souls belongs to it, but sometimes.

Everywhere in the United States, you can vote on who to send to the House of Representatives.

In two thirds of the states, you can vote for a Senator.

In some states, various state and local officials are on the ballot. (In other states these contests are held in non-presidential years.)

Some states are holding referendums. You can vote for or against an amendment to your state's constitution, or for or against a law that the legislature has sent to an election.

In some localities you can vote on a bond issue that would authorize a local government to levy taxes for a special project.

If it's too much to remember, you can bring notes with you into the voting booth about who and what you want to vote for.

Some of you are not planning to vote because you hate both Harris and Trump. But you might find the other races to be meaningful to you. Get out and vote even if you leave the top of the ballot blank.
