Anyone who’s read my fics please make specific assumptions about me based off my writing
I love seeing people’s picrew art styles because you can just look at them and be like
“You read homestuck and it was a big part of your life for a few years, you’re not into steven universe but you did watch it, and you had an intense black butler phase in middle school and doodled their eyes over and over again in your spiral notebooks”
We are James C*rden haters and I don’t onow the reason but im a sheep
Ficlet based on this post by @unremarkablehouse speculating about conversation between never again and memento mori. In this they didn’t talk at all between.
Mulder was about to leave for work when his phone rang. “Mulder.”
“Hey, Mulder, it’s me.” Scully said on the other side of the phone. He was still a little mad at her for putting herself in danger and bailing on the case. He knew she was still very mad at him for sticking his nose where it (arguably) didn’t belong.
She was probably already at the office, calling him to tell him that he needed to hurry up. “What?” He asked harshly. Maybe too harshly. Her heard Scully draw a shallow breath on the other end but she remained silent. “Scully, what is it?” He prompted a little more gently. Maybe she was going to apologize, which would give him a perfect chance to do so in turn.
He hated fighting with her. Not initially, not when the adrenaline was coursing through his body and his head was light with anger. Afterwards though, he felt hollow. Felt a pang when he stopped himself for reaching for the phone to tell her about a world war two documentary she should watch, or a tip he just received, or just to say hello. “Can you-“ she started, then he heard a rustling as Scully pulled the phone away from her ear. He heard someone else talking in her side.
“Dr. Scully, we have more scans, if you’d like to speak with Dr. Andrews abouts treatment plan she’s available now, your belongings are in the other room. He heard more rustling.
“Hey. Sorry.”
“Sorry? Scully what treatment plan? Whats going on?” He was frozen next to the door of his apartment, hand on the door knob, as he became vaguely away of the sound of beeping and buzzing florescent in the background.
“Mulder, can you meet me at the hospital?” She said suddenly after remaining silent for another handful of heart beats. His keys nearly slipped from his hand.
“Is this about a case?”
“No,” she responded tersely.
“I’ll be right there, Scully,” he said, opening his door and not bothering to lock it behind him as any feelings of animosity for her melted and drained through his feet back into the ground where they belonged. “I’ll be right there.” And then she hung up on him. Flowers, he needed flowers.
(Jury’s still out on that but shes the loml)
IM A HOMOSEXUAL!
IM A HOMOSEXUAL !!
Chapter 14 of A Muse, a Myth, a Mortal is UP
In the morning he left before she did. In the office he didn’t make a move to put his hand on what had become its usual place on her back and he failed to make it home for dinner.
On the third day of this, when Mulder gave her a wide berth in the kitchen as she went to move past him, Scully snapped. “Mulder, what is wrong with you?” Mulder nearly spit out his coffee.
“Pardon?” he choked out. Scully put a hand on her hip and gave him a severe look that was in no way negated by the Flinstone’s pajama pants she was wearing with her UMaryland sweatshirt.
The season one dynamic is so important to me because you watch the first episode and you’re like “they’re gonna bone” even though they don’t really trust each other and its just this first time field agent who knows exactly what shes doing in theory but has never actually experienced any if this and this vetted agent who was renown for his profiles with violent crimes who every just thinks is crazy but the take each other so seriously from the get go and why the fuck are they standing that close to each other and then at the end of the season (which i estimate to be about a years worth of time) scully, who holds her job and success over everything else, is ready to lose her job to protect Mulder and he is mostly ready to give up the xfiles (in name atleast, you cant really have mulder without the xfiles) for the same reason.
They’re not friends, they’re not coworkers, they’re not romantically or sexual invoved they are a secret fifth thing
Let me tell you a secret, have you ever heard that greek myth where humans were made with two faces and four arms and legs until they got split in half and thats where soulmates came from? That was actually written to describe the relationship of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully
Personally I’m angst lover and I love the moments where angst forces emotion from characters. They couldn’t have killed Scully and we all knew that, but there was something about watching Mulder not know that is so txf. It’s so “he wants to believe” that she will get better while while still not knowing how exactly that is possible and her being completely convinced (after Momento Mori) that she will be dying and, “no Mulder don’t fight me in this, it’s a fact” that is just so in line with the entirety of the show. And while I’ve also not seen a lot of fics where Scully doesn’t get cancer I also think that a lot of caner arc fics dont get a lot of love. I understand people sometimes just want to read something feel-good and cute but don’t knock the emotional catharsis of watching two people who are madly in comfort each other through the fact that they are about to be ripped apart until you try it.
Y’all should go read “I Never Got Over Those Blue Eyes (I See Them Everywhere)” by HeavyOnTheTragedy on AO3 because shameless self promotion
no no you guys don't get it. the x files cancer arc was, excuse the pun, a fucking white whale of a tv plotline that would not have worked nearly as well on literally any other show. it was a complete hail mary. the writers' room nearly didn't make it happen because they were worried it would fall too deeply into soap opera territory. and on any other show, it would! but the x files is about four key things: mistrust in the government, faith in both science and the otherworldly, building a life around trauma, and the fine line between love and codependency. it is the only show where the entirety of this situation- a government experiment on an unwilling young catholic leads to a terminal illness that is counteracted by a literal scientific miracle in the eleventh hour due to her partner's refusal to accept her impending death- could both happen at all and happen well. none of the themes in the cancer arc were new to txf at all. they'd all been lurking, to some extent, in the background since the pilot. the cancer arc wasn't merely milking a left-field catastrophe for the drama, it shoved the overarching themes of the show to the front and said look. look what these people are to each other. look how impossible it is to face the darkness alone. regardless of when the plotline was conceived, it was always going to happen. it was the only way the story could have ever gone. they were always doomed from the beginning
How bitches be acting after “not gazing at Scully”
So my parents used to watch the show way back when it was airing and they were married and all that and a few weeks ago my mom asked if i wanted to watch and episode with her. I said sure and put on home; And while i’m sitting there like “aw i love the scene where scully tells mulder he’d lapse into catatonic shock with out his cell phone” my mom is literally hiding under her blanket
I know a lot of people have X-Files episodes that scared them or freaked them out, and I probably would feel the same way if I saw those scenes in a movie.
My brain refuses to get scared watching this show. My tolerance for scary/gory/creepy is pretty much infinite. It’s all just background for whatever the world’s most adorable FBI Agents are doing.
If Mulder and Scully are on screen, I’m just focusing on how cute they are. If they’re not on screen, I’m thinking about how cute they were in the previous scene.
I’m watching, I follow the plot, but I am filtering everything through my love of the characters.
When do you guys think the mulder and scully realized that, romantic or otherwise, they were going to spend the rest of their lives together? I think that Scully definitely resigned herself to it first, and Mulder realized it after an exchange like:
Scully (taking Benadryl): you know, it’s genius, you cant care about weather or not you are breathing if your asleep for 12 hours
Mulder: yeah im starting to feel a cold coming on can i have some
Scully: no, never take this shit it gives you dimentia
Mulder: but your taking it
Scully: yeah but if YOU get dementia I don’t wanna have to deal with it
Editing is not my forte, the quality is a little crappy but whatever
If youd like to listen to me ramble about it I do that now and also i write fanfiction (a HeavyOnTheTragedy on AO3)
