GALADRIEL & EREINION GIL-GALAD THE RINGS OF POWER β 2.08: Shadow and Flame (2024)
When Lucifer is hanging out at his palace and can't get a moment's peace...
Bro calm down it's your shadowπ
I love how Hazbin Hotel consistently portrays Alastorβs biggest strength as not his raw power, but his mind. In Ork terms: Hez not Brutal anβ Cunninβ, but Cunninβ anβ Brutal.
In stayed gone, Alastor doesnβt cause the power outage. Instead, he makes Vox so frustrated he does it himself.
In Huskβs flashback, itβs shown that Alastor didnβt beat him into submission- but forced him into a contract via a deal and a game.
In Scrambled Eggs, he doesnβt discount Frank (the egg boi) and uses him to covertly spy on them instead of using his possibly identifiable shadow magic.
And later he leverages the knowledge gained from Frank to get a deal with Charlie and possibly snap those strings of his.
Sure, heβs absurdly powerful as an overlord- but weβve met characters far stronger than him. Thatβs not what makes him a threat. Heβs a threat because heβs a cunning manipulator whoβs startlingly good at reading people and using their wants and insecurities to his advantage.
they literally were so perfect. the elf grief-steeped and in hunt of a violent reckoning. the god forced to kneel before malice for an age now free and worshipful before the one being in middle-earth he deems worthy of his devotion.
oh. my. god.
1.02 - "they say that morgoth found the silmarils so beautiful that after he had stolen them for weeks he could do nothing but stare into their depths."
1.08 - "i alone can see your light" and "you bind me to the light"
2.01 - sauron staring in awe at galadriel as if he had a revelation when he first saw her at the sea.
2.05 - "when the light caught your hair, for a moment you seemed her perfect likeness."
2.06 - sauron deceiving celebrimbor "the silmarils, they will merit little more than a whisper, but the rings of power will be deemed the most precious creations in all middle-earth. best feanor." BUT then when he is alone in his illusion, we hear a man tell a woman who looks like galadriel "i've written a poem but i fear your beauty still overshadows anything i could possibly write."
like morgoth coveted silmarils created by feanor inspired by the way the light reflected galadriel's hair, sauron will covet galadriel's light till the end of his days, attempting to recreate it but failing as nothing will ever come close to her, to that feeling he felt and wanted to bind to his very being. so sauron gropes ever to see galadriel for as long as he exists!
chills, literal chills.
"i alone can see your greatness. i alone can see your light."
