Magrat: "He will make friends easily" she whispered. It wasn't much, she knew, but it was something she'd never been able to get the hang of.
Nanny Ogg: "A bloody good memory is what he ought to have," she said. "He'll always remember the words."
Granny Weatherwax: "Let him be whoever he thinks he is," she said. "That's all anybody could hope for in this world."

In case anyone finds it helpful because mobility aids are horrifically expensive and inaccessible…
And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.

"Love and sex make us human"
Wrong. Most animals fuck. Some reproduce without a partner. Then there are some that can choose not to fuck (like those that remain in their pride or family and forfeit the right to mate in exchange for safety).
Definitely a lot of them love. In their own way or even our way. Like... so many birds mate for life. Humans only wish for that marriage success rate...
Love and sex don't make us human. The absence of them doesn't make us human.
You know what makes us human?
COOKING.
Humans are the only creatures in existence to cook their food. To have a culinary culture. To purposefully change the molecular structure of their sustenance for fun, art, and pleasure.
So, in a way, at the root of it, is pizza over sex and romance.
Pizza makes us human.
some of you guys don’t understand that friendship and platonic kindredship is the real essence of romance. you wanna love someone? fine, but you have to like them first.
“i see them more as platonic friends!” i do too, that’s what the relationship is based off of in my head. what’s not clicking…? like that is the point.
one time a professor asked me if i’d ever wanted to write anything “more important” than romance. and i said no. i was put on this earth to write about sad people kissing. and if another writer ever came up to me and said they wanted to write 400 pages containing nothing but a character baking a single loaf of bread each day, then i would tell them to do that. people don't write something because it's important. they write about something and that is what makes it important
I'm glad theirs kid /family shows like Skelton crew that give you a disabled character that's treated like everyone else until they finally break down and have to admit "no I CANT do everything everyone else does." Like it's nice to be treated equally in theory but in practice when your disabled and esp a disabled kid it's hard to admit and even harder to get your friends to understand why you can't do all the things they do
