"we need more unconventional relationships in media!"
you guys can't even handle andreil not saying "i love you" š«©
Im finally watching Invincible's third season, and let me tell yall, Mark would have such an easier time if the people he wants to protect stopped getting into the fights as he is trying to protect them
LIKE, DUDE, IF MARK CANT FIGHT SOMEONE FROM VILTRUM, YOU ALSO CANT
And then Mark is made to have to protect himself(not particularly succeeding at that) and, now, another dumb fucker who had the bright idea to help and just became on the brink of death weight
Big examples of this are Atom Eve trying to help in the fight against the alternate dimensions invicibles and Oliver trying to tackle that dude from Viltrum right after
Like, guys, YOU ARE NOT HELPING
(Also, Im obviously not refering to Atom Eve in that last fight, she absolutely rocked that, girl rebuilt her body and even before, she actually helped a lot)
Neilās eyes, the color of the sky. Jeanās, the moon that dwells there. A forever partner, forever misplaced. These two make me sick
Jean is the proof that strong doesnt equal hard. He has a deeply kind heart, and it is exactly the fact his heart didnt get hard like stone with all the horrors he was put through that makes him so strong. He didnt just endure, his heart came out it all still soft and beating. I feel like this is also one of the reasons Riko was always specially cruel to Jean. He looked at him and saw all he could never be, all that his money, power and talent would never get him: a kind heart, and he wanted desperately to break this in him, to make Jean bitter and cruel, and it didnt matter how many parts of Jean he would break(physically, emotionally and mentally) he still couldnt break his softness and kindness. Not only that, but he was reminded of this at every turn: when Jean would still take care of Kevin, when he taught Kevin french, when he wasnt able to handle seeing Neil get waterboarded (even though he was tortured like that many times, he couldnt stand there and bare the suffering of another person). Riko hated and despised Jean bc no matter how many times he made Jean see and live through the worst of humanity, Jean still insisted of being a reminder of the best that human beings can be. He reminded Riko that he wasnt bad bc the world was bad, he was bad simply bc he was trash.
That's why I absolutely love Jean Moreau
I swear, this boy desearves the world, he desearves to heal. He desearves to be in a place like the Trojans, full of good ppl, who will show him that he desearves love
jean moreau who learns how to cook and falls in love with it because it distracts him from everything inside his head. jean moreau who learns how to ride a motorcycle and falls in love with the open road now that he can go wherever he wants whenever he wants to. jean moreau who likes peaches and cradles them in his hands like something precious. jean moreau who is sentimental with the gifts he receives from his friends. jean moreau who helped rhemann to pull up the vegetables in his garden and realised he would like to grow something of his own one day. jean moreau who'd plait his sister's hair for her, and sew up the rips in her dress. jean moreau who watches how people show affection to him and to each other and then emulates it back to them when they need it for comfort. jean moreau who was so disturbed by the image of his friend being hurt he searched her for imaginary bumps and bruises he knew weren't there. jean moreau who has been abandoned or betrayed time and again yet still looks out for his friends bc he is loyal by nature. jean moreau who still yearns so deeply for love even though he has convinced himself he cannot have it. jean moreau whose favourite colour is associated with all the things that bring him peace - the soil in rhemann's garden, the sand after the tide washed ashore, the dirt roads he'd been down with cat, jeremy's eyes. jean moreau, a soft boy forced into a hard life.
the thing about neil and jean is that i very much feel like their relationship is mirrored in andrew & aaron's relationship. the 'misplaced forever partner' vs. 'the brother who was given away.'
the way neil was abused but he was KEPT, he had a mother who gave her life to fight for him vs. jean who was sold and forgotten and abandoned, stripped of his own name and his language, who had to survive riko and the master and the complicated dynamics of being perfect court but also property, who had to navigate the nest and all its horrors and hierarchy completely alone.
aaron who was abused, who was beaten and strung along and neglected, but who his mother came back for vs. andrew who was left behind, who never had a last name, who said 'please' so much at seven he can't stand the sound of the word at 21, who was willing to carve pieces from himself for the promise of a scrap of family.
andrew and aaron made a deal and hated each other for it. jean and neil were each others partners - your failure is my failure, your success is my success. andrew, who killed aaron's mother when he found out she was beating him, to hold up his end of the deal. jean, who held neil down to be carved, but who patched him up again after.
aaron, who killed his brother's rapist. and neil who did the same
MY GOD! YOU JUST TRANSLATED INTO WORDS WHAT I FEEL EVERYTIME SOMEONE ASKS ME WHAT I WANT!!
Like, I dont want to make another person not eat something the REALLY want bc of something I mildly want
I hate when people ask me about my preference but I donāt understand their preference level. Like yes I kinda want Chinese food 10% more than I want a sandwich but if you want a sandwich like 40% more than Chinese food then I would say itās totally reasonable we get sandwiches.
The way Neil Josten switched into Nathaniel in order to process and handle the abuse and trauma of being found by his father's people and the reality of his looming death will never not fuck me up, he literally said I can't handle this but maybe the Butcher's son could. And then. And then!! The way those two versions of himself coalesce into Neil Abram Josten (legally recognised) after Nathan is dead and the truth is out? The Neil Josten we see in The Sunshine Court has all of the attachments of Neil Josten, the slow unraveling of family and care but all of the hard edges of Nathaniel, unflinching from the reality of the world he lives in and the decisions he has to make to keep his life. Nathaniel would never have stuck around long enough to care about Jean Moreau and call a hit out on his abuser. Neil would never have trusted those resources available to him (or potentially the trail it could leave) in order to deal with the problem in one brutal but efficient move. But Neil Abram Josten reforged could, would and did.

This part got me SO MAD
And he made Jeremy answer it, like, c'mmon how terrible of a parent can you be
Yes, the kid fucked up. Yes, using drugs was a shit decision. From that to literal murder there is a huge gap.
Also, it is Jeremy, boy couldn't harm a flower. He is literally so sweet all the time. How can you not know your kid that much????
Jeremy's family make me wanna throw up
