An indian almond tree (or talisay as we’d like to call it) near our classroom just had its annual shedding from red to the color of the year and it’s so refreshing to see this after the last weeks of school. ✨
Can’t wait for vacation.
Getting offline-life together for the first quarter of the year hoping *really crossing my fingers* to have more than two months of cleaning my current messy state all-wise, really. Hello again, it has been a while my smol cave 🏠
(But I had the slightest time to pull off this little painting of a cactus from the porch while waiting at the laundry shop ☕)
I deserve a good long summer vacation!!
(4/8/19: Samal Island, Davao del Norte, PH)
☕ Quarter I was all about finishing tasks, senior thesis, and graduation. Those three months finally passed and I’m grateful to say I did a pretty good job keeping my shit together. This is my self-report of my second quarter of 2019 with the intention of moving on after six years of my environment molding me into an anxious stem student but who also has the intention of doing art in the future. It was hard juggling two different things, and I bet it will also get harder soon. I flunked my exam to get to my dream uni/arts course. The only doors open for me were science courses but soredemo I’m still grateful for these chances. Maybe the universe is still saying “not yet” to myself for now.
Days after I checked my exam results and the morning after graduation day, I immediately flew south to attend a youth conference with my relatives. To me, it felt like an escape from my problems back home by sheltering myself through the event. There were lots of self-reflection and I can definitely say it helped me made some decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I actually did had a fun time!! No regrets.
(4/9/19: Pithecophaga jifferyi sketches - The Philippine Eagle Center, Malagos, Davao City, PH)
☕ Witnessed Kamikazee and December Avenue music huhu 💕 Feels surreal to hear your songs from spotigy/youtube on replay to live concerts with tons of people.
(4/2919: Kamikazee - HNU Oval)
(5/1/19: December Avenue - CPG Sports Complex)
☕ Did a beach/underwater-themed wedding guestbook commission!! I had fun experimenting different textures for the cover, illustrating a photo of them together, and painting different sea creatures on the pages!!
☕ Had a 20-days summer job at the provincial capitol. They newly built the place and was assigned to a very pretty office. Also met new found friends!! 💕
☕ We did our part for World Oceans Day with a beach cleanup held by Plastic Free Bohol (a local NGO I hope to volunteer more often!!) After picking up trashes, we went ahead to find a good spot to chill/sun bask with my friends.
(6/8/19: World Oceans Day - Doljo Beach, Panglao Island & Bool, Tagbilaran City, Bohol)
Other friends also did a mini mangrove planting project in Bool’s coastal areas!! So proud of my batch mates 💕
As someone who’s taking a college course that mainly covers ocean conservation and marine life (maybe in another post hehe), figured at least participate local cleanups (as if it’s our last haha) even if commuting to the venue’s a challenge, all efforts definitely doesn’t go to waste :)
Quarter II was an experience of taking my longest break and I definitely believe that I deserved that haha! Quarter III starts this month and all college prep should start now. School starts in August so I think I still have time lounging on this cave lol
I think I made good decisions so far and had good realizations during my break. Whatever happens, happens. I did my work and arrived setbacks, but I’ll try and try again no matter how long it takes. I’m also interested in my upcoming field in uni so I’ll take it as a stepping stone to my intentions, old and new. :)
Lalaban po ako ulit.

Bounded by a timeless feeling, I found myself lying on my pillows in awe after watching the newest Shinkai masterpiece on a cold and rainy night. It has really been a while since I’ve felt like this after something that is so worthy to watch.
My hands are always up for Makoto Shinkai’s art and story. He has his way of portraying the little details of life that suddenly reflects a bigger impact of a scene later on. (I’m talking about the rate of which the cherry blossoms fall, the morning downpours of a busy city, kumihimo, and tankas)
Also, RADWIMPS’s lyrics was so beautiful. His music resonates and completes the whole story and I find that very fulfilling. Kimi No Na Wa *kinda* reminded me a little of myself.
I’ll wait for the HD of the HD of the movie and watch it again for the greater good. I know that it will be a thousand times better and an emotional wreck haha.

Reese 1st Album Launch Green Sun, 12.06.15
Hands down, Reese’s album launch has been the best album launch I’ve been to (ever!). So much was going on, I wasn’t sure if it’s an album launch or a carnival fair/ birthday party. There were various art & snack booths going on around from 4-6pm, with music by CRWN and Gentle Universe. Their was a booth for temporary tattoo, a live brush lettering and calligraphy, live portrait illustration, their was free ~intergalactic~ ice cream and cookies and cupcakes, and their was an instax photobooth. Oh, and also, Jensen & the Flips and Tom’s Story performed. Psh, no big deal (j e n s e n a n d t h e f l i p s ! ! !).
But more than those shenanigans, I think the reason why this has been the best I’ve been to was the atmosphere of anticipation that filled the venue. Excited fans and friends have waited for the album for so long, and there was a shared feeling of excitement that finally, we will hear all of Reese’s songs live and have an actual physical album. It was a huge deal for me because I’ve been a fan of Reese since her Trophy Boy and Dressed Up Days. From leaving random comments on her blog posts to actually meeting her through a blog convention, my likeness for this “convenient sushi” never faltered.
Congratulations, Reese! You deserve this success as much as the universe deserves to hear your music.
Hello Internet.
I feel really bad for not storytelling my summer since it’s a ritual thing here. It’s when I am most vacant. I felt like it missed the heat haze rants like before. Summer this year wasn’t really that hot compared to last year. I mean there were times where it was 35 degrees but the wind was sailing and lots of clouds shaded from time to time. The grass wasn’t dying and the avocados were at the right time. I came across flaming fire trees, bougainvillaes, those white tropical flowers (dunno what they’re called but) and yellow weeping flowers on trees (dunno what they were called but they were sooo pretty esp being near the shores of beaches). Flowers were blooming EVERYWHERE and I loved it. This was for the month of May though. April was kind of the shattered-hopes-but-trying-to hold-on-what’s-still-there feeling. I enrolled afternoon art sessions near my house to cope and make myself busy with one of the things I love, and that’s painting.
I’ve been also jogging almost every after dusk to feel less crappy and take care of myself. I also took care of my built-up acne prone skin from school stress and student research. But that all has now passed and I took the greatest relief EVER. And right now, I think that the universe just wants me to accept my fate for the time being and just go where the wind takes me. As long as I keep my doors and windows open with new ideas & chances and stand on my roots, maybe I’ll fly myself to where I’ve been wanting to go and be. ☺

Here’s to the weird and wonderful :)
Here comes more weeiiirrrd. (and the wonderful :)) )
I am proud to introduce these books of magic written by great senpais whom I really look up to. These books are the fruit of senpais’ sipag, tiyaga, dugo’t pawis and all other words that can say through their pusong mamon na pagsisikap. (lol im talking tagalog here im not even good with this) It’s nice to see that more passionate people near me have also the same love for this kind of art, and kawaii ;_; So note to self Justinne Hannah, you are not alone.
The Kawaii PH book was launched last June 17, 2015 and Abbey Sy’s book was launched last June 20, 2015 (my birthday huhu ;_;). Too bad I reaaallly couldn’t come to both events (why is this country an archipelago anyway). If were to come I’d definitely be in full support with you guys ;_;
“The Kawaii PH Book was created by the members and friends of the Kawaii Philippines team by compiling and sharing their stories, experiences, inspirations, blogs, and actions in order to help spread the meaning of kawaii and what makes every individual unique. The aim of the book is to enlighten people and educate the curious on what kawaii actually is, and what Kawaii PH does. “ - Kawaii PH
Proceeds of the book will go to www.kawaiifund.org
The Kawaii Fund is a fundraising campaign by Kawaii Philippines. One of Kawaii PH’s ways of making this happen is the book. They are also selling shirts and holding kawaii workshops like the upcoming dance workshop with cover group Seishun Kakumei. All of these will someday result to a kawaii dream for the community, Kawaii in Manila 3 / Kawaii in Asia. <3
So gambatte!! <3
THE ABCs OF HAND LETTERING by ABBEY SY
I was sooo happy they launched the book at the same time as my birthday (fangirling haha * *)
I just got this last week and after three months of searching and searching, it was finally available in my nearest NBS branch huhu. Turns out the book got sold out and I got the second printing (to be available in an isolated NBS branch) but still yaaay I got it the day before I proposed my thesis title (reality check lol)
Proposed my title and I can take a little relaxation and draw & paint again huhu it’s been a while ;_; More ahrt for meeee
Oh and also looking forward to to Reese’s first album soooon! MUST get a copy of her music * *
That’s probably it for now, ‘til next time!

Galileo Galilei, my heroes. I'm gonna miss you guys ❤
Even in the tiniest details could make a difference. 😌💚
the tiny specks of colour in their eyes
the bass and background sounds in a song
starlight on a cloudy night
how someone looks when they think nobody can see them
the mannerisms of a stranger
real meanings behind spoken words
subtle facial expressions which last a second
the underlying flavours in food
emotions that a friend is trying to hide
little lights in a sleeping city
flowers growing through cracks in the pavement
the mixed colour palette in a piece of art
the melody of someone’s voice
