I get a fizzing feeling all over when I solve a puzzle :)
Or it may be a heart attack brought on by the fact that’s it’s flipping May already!
Many of you will have noticed this blog has been very dormant for a while. I have really stepped back with the constant studying in order to recover from severe burnout, depression and anxiety. If there’s any good year to do this, it’s my first year of uni: my marks don’t count towards my final degree classification. I have indeed been going to lectures and labs and diligently doing all set work, I’ve just cut back the time I spend studying outside of contact hours a bit. Taking a break has helped me feel better, and I’m ready to jump into second year and read around and really engage with the chemistry I’ll be doing. There is no shame in this, and I’d really like you all to remember that it’s okay to cut yourself some slack when you need to x
Oh my goodness I’m so excited that I get a second chance to show them I’m up for this. I was whinging this morning that I just wanted to find out and then opened my inbox to find the email I’ve been waiting for :)
So what you see above is the product of a newfound energy and zest for life. I’m writing up some biology notes in advance and also got to play with some logarithmic graph paper (OMG that stuff is so cool!) and did some (heavily tippexed) maths. They were just the examples haha I suck at copying things down
Happy Tuesday folks, I hope today has treated you as well as it has treated me!
So my mental health is struggling but I am self-aware enough to know that and I am actively getting some help because I don’t want a second bout of severe depression HOWEVER I know that my stress is transient and I will have the summer to recover. It isn’t worth destroying my brain and wellbeing for A Levels!
I decided to just write a plain old paper essay for German but then quickly remembered I can’t double tap the pen to erase my mistakes sooooo Tippex is my friend!
It also makes me feel like a badass teacher and I’m ngl that puts a sense of novelty into it
Whiteboards ftw!
If you are a university student, especially a STEM major, ESPECIALLY AN ORGANIC CHEMISTRY STUDENT, you need a whiteboard.
You can revise all the notes in your respective hemisphere but without active repetition it means nothing. Write your mechanism/structure/wedding vows. Erase part of it. Write it again. Erase more of it. Repeat.
Get a big one so that you can sit on the floor/bed/table without straining your back from looking down. I have no attention span but I can white-board for hours.

I moved into the University of Birmingham yesterday and met my lovely flatmates! I’m very excited to finally have a proper desk to work at - I have graduated from an almost-three-legged coffee table and an old pouffe :)
It’s a bit of an adjustment but it’s a lot of fun so far and I think things will turn out just fine. I love love love my campus; it’s so pretty!
We love tutorials! Photo is a bit bad but it’s late and I feel bad for neglecting this account haha
Stay hydrated folks! Also, who knew muscles were so exciting?
I’ve been meaning to finish these notes for ages haha
My eyes snapped open at 7:30am so I figured I’d have a wash, stretch out my aching muscles and do some maths. After this I’ll go and grab some breakfast :)
It’s finally half term so the pressure is momentarily off and I can catch up on all my outstanding tasks.
I feel like I’ve achieved a lot in the past couple of hours I’ve been up!
Have an amazing day!
I love overcomplicating things, apparently! Anyhow, I got the right answer so I’m good.
Happy Wednesday :)
