It's so hilarious to me how in queer media that actually accurately represents queer people (adults) there's always some kind of murder or other unforgivable mistakes involved??? Like, yeah that's my favourite genre, but why is queer cinema always some kind of psychological thriller/horror, especially the old stuff. Give us a minute to BREATHE please. Someone always DIES. I can name so many examples on this I'm actually going to write a paper on it asap, because I just think it's both so funny and interesting but also disturbing.
i love not having periods anymore i don't miss that shit at all
missing my handsome butch princess
Why do all these characters have nicknames and why can i never clock them. I’ve spent the whole time in the yellowjackets fandom slowly figuring out everyone’s given names from their nicknames and it’s psyching me out. It took me so long to figure out that lottie’s given name was charlotte and every time i remember that van’s given name is vanessa i have a miniature heart attack. Mari’s full name is probably maria. Fuck. Gen’s full name is probably genevieve. Shit. Jackie might be short for jacqueline. Crying rn. The fifth season is gonna come out or smth and tell me misty’s real name is mysterious quigley and i’ll have no choice but to keel over and die
[Image ID: a black and white typography edit. there are two identical white rectangles on a black background. in the left rectangle is text that reads "if you are unwilling to tolerate trans existence i will make your life intolerable." in the right rectangle are two knives and a pair of scissors. they are ornately decorated on the handle & look vintage. the entire image is textured to look aged and photocopied. /End ID]

Taught to diminish ourselves as little girls, taught to diminish ourselves as trans people, when will trans men be allowed to speak for ourselves. To tell our own stories.
About to kill a man and she’s serving Renaissance painting
When I’m not constantly being fed more of my hyperfixation so now I have to scramble for anything I can get my hands on like a rat before ultimately falling into a deep depression.
i understand the whole "she's supposed to be spiraling, let women be evil" argument in defense of shauna, i understand that yellowjackets has been a dark and gory show from the get go, and i understand that mari's death/sacrifice was necessary. but when you are releasing media into the world, you are sending out a message. every choice made in a piece of media is intentional.
mari was stripped of her clothes and dignity, dragged naked through the snow, hung upside down, carved, scalped, cooked, and served as food to the team, with shauna demanding to wear mari's hair as a trophy.
mari was also one of the best written characters on the show, taking her from an annoying jv side character to an important part of the story (her last name reveal i cheered so loud). she never once took shauna's bs and made it clear from the start that she was just the decoy. she was loved by all her friends and teammates, and it's evident when you realize that the hunt was a ploy to keep shauna distracted from nat's venture to get help, and that none of the yellowjackets actually wanted to hunt mari. mari's sacrifice for the sake of the team (despite her pulling the queen card being an accident) was one last act of defiance in the face of shauna's tyranny and the dictatorship that came with her reign.
idgaf about the fact that all the victims have to be naked to be cooked and butchered, and i don't care that shauna was seen using hannah's old hair as a fidget toy in ep 09 to defend the scalping, every choice made with mari's slaughter was an intentional one, and it leaves such a bad taste when you view it in the context of how every other woc in the show was treated.
i don't know what the writers were plotting in the writer's room, but there were better ways to handle mari's death/slaughter.
I think that it's really important for people to realize that being disabled is traumatic. genuinely. your body and brain feel like they are breaking down and wrong. you are in constant heavy stress from stuff like chronic pain. most disabled people i know have a somewhat regular emotional break down from the trauma of it all. and we are expected to just smile through it by society, to not be in the way, to not be an issue.
Well, I need more people to go read Compound Fracture by Andrew Joseph White.
