“I’m not on tiktok anyway so this does not affect me” no???? it’s not just about tiktok or whether or not you like the app??? it’s about them being able to censor and control what they want and what they don’t want people to see. it’s about them being able to keep people uneducated for the sake of their personal gain and benefits.

(it’s also about small businesses who relied on tiktok to gain customers / income.)

that being said, if the only thing you care about is the platforms you’re on, sorry to break it to you, but if they can ban tiktok, they can go after any other platforms too.

they can go after tumblr, archive of our own, instagram, youtube, facebook, etc, you name it.

it actually does affect you.

Trump is saying and will continue to say he had a massive win and has a mandate and most Americans agree with him. Do not listen. His win was incredibly narrow.

He did not win the majority of the popular vote. The majority of Americans who voted for President did not vote for him.

His large electoral college victory was due to very narrow wins in swing states. The margins in six swing states were 3.2%, 3.1%, 2.2%, 1.7%, 1.4%, 0.9%.

A 1.6% swing in each of them would have given Harris a 308 to 230 win in the electoral college. A 0.9% swing in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan would have given Harris a 270 to 268 win. Less than a percent.

This election was not a landslide. His win was so so so narrow.

This doesn't mean he's not the president and it doesn't mean we don't have to deal with his shit for the next four years. But when people (both his proud allies and his despondent opponents) say he won overwhelmingly, don't let them get away with that. There is too much despair in it. "This is what an overwhelming majority of Americans wanted" is not true and saying it gives him more power.

I'd like everyone to know that when Trump says that two genders/sexes will be policy, he's not just talking about erasing transgender, nonbinary, demigender, agender, bigender, trigender, polygender, pangender, and all the others, he's also talking about erasing intersex people. He's erasing feminine cis men and masculine cis women. He's talking about erasing everyone who ISN'T cisgender and DOESN'T conform to traditional forms of gender expression.

And if you're part of the community and think, "This won't affect me because I am cisgender in a traditional way!", you're wrong. Once they finish with the gender parts of LGBTQ+, they're coming for you. They hate you just as much as they hate them.

And nary but *crickets* from the national media. The revolution is NOT being televised, it is being suppressed. 

Just remember, you are NOT alone. People ARE doing things. You will meet those people when YOU start doing things.

But we cannot rely on the courts alone. Trump is already defying numerous restraining orders, and the Executive branch controls the enforcement arm of federal law (U.S. Marshals Service).

When Trump inevitably refuses to comply with the courts and directs the DOJ/U.S. Marshals to stand down, effectively neutering the Judicial branch of the government, it will signal THE END OF U.S. DEMOCRACY.

Our only recourse will be to take to the streets. WE THE PEOPLE, need to demand rule of law by asserting our First Amendment right to assemble while we still have it.
