Guys help what do I get
Its artfight and I wanna get better at digital art. So i wanna get one of the programs to use for the rest of the month but I’m unsure which to choose.
I did a year long graphic tech course during the school year using adobe so I’m use to it and it’s great.
But I’m really liking the freedom that ibis paint gives you with tools and I’ve been using it for two weeks now and enjoy it. But If going to end up exploding if I see the one hour timer is up again.
What’s art fight??
I was hoping I’d get an ask like this so I had an excuse to go all out like this! Artfight is an annual art event that surrounds giving and getting art for a whole month!
once you make an account you can upload all your ocs and their information on your own page! This should include stuff like references and small bits of character info (enough for someone to draw them accurately). You need to have at least one OC uploaded to participate so people can draw art for you during Artfight (although i would say upload about 3 so people have choice.)
All people who sign up for Artfight that year get separated into two teams once the event begins (I’m using red and blue as an example but they are usually stuff like sun vs moon, technology vs nature, coffee vs tea etc)
Once that happens people can make art of your OCs in exchange for points for their team! Yep! You get free art of your OCs!
But that means your team is now down a good few points so its not without consequence.
By drawing an OC that belongs to the opposite team for more points than the piece you were given your team is able to stay on top of the game and you also put some good out in the world in the process.
if you draw something for the person of the opposite team and they attack back you can get extra points for your team by starting a “revenge chain” its one of the best ways to get a point multiplier going and to start a friendship with someone who has cool characters!
So what happens when your team wins?
Your team all get a nifty little digital trophy, all the art development that comes with drawing competitively, the knowledge that you’ve put a lot of good and happiness into the world by drawing peoples ocs, and complete ownership of bragging rights! (I personally developed my art style a whole lot during artfight last year! it was super fun!)
So what about when your team looses?
Well the reason why the other team won is because they gave your team the most art of your teams characters! So statistically you just got a whole bunch more free art than they did! Even if you don’t get all the celebration and bragging rights you now have so much more amazing art of your characters!
So basically…
I totally implore everyone who loves to do visual art to participate in artfight! It’s an amazing event that challenges you in a great way and you get to be introduced to a lot of really amazing artists and make alliances with people on your team!

Here’s the link to my account on art fight if you want to check me out!
Keep in mind you don’t have to participate in artfight once you make an account, you need to opt in for that year at any point during the month so you can absolutely just make an account to watch and look at the good art!
I guess the bots were like…hibernating through the winter because I had a really blissful period of no mysterious new followers, and now they’re back in droves.
Once more for those in the back.
If you ever are self-publishing or illustrating a paperback, an absolutely essential tool is this page, which gives you the exact pixel count of a book spine based on its page count, and/or a template you can use for the correct width/height ratio.
I hate bill cipher
(Glues paper to sketchbook)
he’s so darn annoying
(Smooths out creases from recipes and glues)
he won’t leave my darn brain
(Cuts out doodles from various papers)
it’s like he’s possessing me or something
(Places sticker number 42)
forcing me to be an art slave
(scribbles in markers)
I should get a metal plate installed
(finishes yet another bill cipher themed scrap book page)

I just started watching Transformers Earthspark and I’m currently on episode 2.
And not gonna lie it’s pretty great. I was really worried it wasn’t going to be all that great because most of the new tf series have been real sucky lately.
The artstyle of the show is a lot better once your watching a whole episode and not just trailers. The way the explosions are animated is fantastic. The story line seems to be going well and It’s really interesting that Megatron is not only good now but has a human friend which is really cool. It was a bit shocking to hear such different voices for some characters but you get used to it quick. The way Optimus’ voice actor portrayed him unique like TFA, it’s not a forced impression like the trilogy series.
Overall I’m really liking earthspark and plan to make fanart soon.
if mangoes didnt have the pit inside of them they would have to invent a new 8th deadly sin to describe the way i act around them because greed gluttony and lust wouldn't even Begin to cover the heinous depraved things i would do if there wasn't a piece of wood lurking inside to humble me
We've put together a little infographic for those of you who may still be wondering what a Big Bang is, and how it works ✨
Full text under the cut!
Big Bangs and You
As presented by the mods of the Transformers Big Bang
What is a Big Bang, Anyway?
The First Big Bang
Big Bangs are an ooooold fandom tradition, dating back to the bygone times of 2005, when the very first Big Bang was banged.
The original Bang, the “Big Bang, Baby Challenge”, was invitation only, and the minimum word count was 50,000 words! The goal was to create a huge influx of novel-length, illustrated fics for the fandom.
Other people thought this was a really neat idea, so they started hosting their own Bangs.
Banging in the Modern Age
Big Bangs today are a little different. They’re usually open-invitation, and the minimum word counts are often much shorter (ours last year was only 10K, and this year it’s 15K!)
But the goal is the same: to create a massive influx of new, illustrated longfics in the fandom, which drops all at once with a BANG.
There are also Reverse Big Bangs, where artists create their pieces first, and writers make fics for them!
How to Bang
Everyone who’s interested signs up .
Fic writers and fanartists are paired together to collaborate!
The ficcer writes a fic that meets the word count and kicks ass.
The artist creates the required number of illustrations for it, which ALSO kick ass.
Everyone posts their fic and art all at the same time, creating an EXPLOSION of new kickass content
Everyone profits- even the people who didn’t participate!
Is it Like a Zine?
NO. THIS IS NOT LIKE A ZINE. THERE ARE NO APPLICATIONS, NO PUBLICATION, AND IT’S ALL FREE.
You Mentioned Something About a TF Big Bang?
Heck yeah I did. This infographic is brought to you by the mod team of last year’s Transformers Big Bang- now in its second year!
Last Year
The TF Big Bang produced 63 fics, 91 illustrations, and over 1.3 million new words for Transformers fandom.
This year we hope to be even Bigger and Bangier.
